Medical care is great but strict access to patient visitation to two people per room. If you have more than two, they are not allowed to wait anywhere in the hospital until the original two visitors leave the room. We have out of state relatives here and they are forced to wait outside of the hospital. It's very cold, windy, and raining outside. I've been told the on duty administrator is "busy, " and can not take my phone call / request. I'm not anti corporation, but the corporation the oversees St. Joe's is shockingly out of touch with the needs of patients and their loved ones who meet security guards at the door, to be fair, all the security guards except one, a tall man with glasses (Talked down to people and was extremely rude), were helpful. This policy places undue stress on families - I'd much rather have my loved - ones cared for at the much nicer hospital on Craycroft and Grant!

My mother was here and received the WORST bed side manner and help I’ve ever seen. Was left alone for over half an hour with call light on and decided to do what she needed to do by herself bc she couldn’t believe the care they gave. Didn’t give her any meds she needed at discharge and left her to take care of herself. OSHA should be contacted on the facts that the hospital is FILTHY, housekeeper came and just pushed a hamper into the bathroom and left. The floors and walls were splattered with a nasty substance. The outlets were exposed and dangerous. This place should be shut down. Can’t believe they call themselves a Christian hospital God would be ashamed.

They are terrible. Did a bunch of tests while not telling me why, shoved me in a room and forgot me. Did not ask about any of my symptoms and didn’t tell me what or why I was waiting. I tried to ask nurses what my progress was and they claimed they could not help because they all apparently didn’t work on that floor.

Update-
I just found out that they mixed me up with another patient.half of the records they gave me were mine and the other half belonged to another patient. This included giving me their prescription and telling me it was my own. Now I am not sure if they even looked at my records or if the diagnosis they gave me was correct or if the PA looked at the results from my tests. They are so negligent.

My 81 year old husband fell, injuring his head and shoulder. St. Joseph's trauma team took him in immediately upon arriving and started testing and treating him. Every one was professional and caring.

THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! When I arrived at the ER in an ambulance I sat in the hallway for almost 6 hours before the nurse decided that she was going to check my blood pressure. Meanwhile I could hear allot of the female nurses flirting with the male nurses and docs talking about how they are going on vacation soon. One even asked a man (assuming he was nursing staff) if he was wearing underwear that day.
When I finally got to a recliner because there were “no rooms available” I watched a elderly man spit onto his chair then heard the CNA say he tested positive for covid. Then NO ONE cleaned the chair he was sitting in.
To say this place is a nightmare is an understatement. From now on if I am conscious I will be telling anyone DO NOT GO TO THIS ASYLUM HORROR HOUSE.

I had to seek emergent care in the OBGYN department. I have zero complaints about the nursing staff and doctor I saw that night. They were very kind and helpful. There were no other patients in triage while I was there and was seen right away and luckily all concerns I was experiencing were not life threatening to myself or my baby.
I will make a complaint to the registration/finance department. I filled out my intake forms and then received a call on my phone to clarify some information like address and insurance. About ten minutes later I received another call from the same person I had spoken with prior who informed me of my payment cost after being ran through insurance. I was currently being fitted to monitoring equipment when I was asked if I was able to pay this charge. I let the person know that I did have the funds and asked if I was able to make this payment after I had settled and was able to determine that my baby was okay and well. I was very quickly stopped mid sentence and told "no, you can pay this right now"
I was taken aback that while I'm in a triage and am by myself (my partner and father of my child is currently deployed and I do not have family in the state) trying to get situated with the nurse that I have to drop everything that moment to pay. My request to have her call me back in 30 minutes to an hour or wait until I was given the peace of mind that there were no immediate concerns with my baby was denied and I had to ask the nurse to stop what she was doing to assist me to get my purse so I could make the payment immediately.
In hind site I probably would've reacted more aggressively if I was not shooken up by the events that had occured but that sincerely made me feel that my health was not a priority, but the money was.
Again the medical staff that assisted me that night were very attentive and I have no complaints to the care I was given by them. But I am now concerned of how I will be treated by finance when I come back to deliver my child. I sincerely hope that I don't receive a phone call from another department while I'm in the middle of active labor harassing me about payment and making demands on immediate payment when my main concern is my health and my child's health.

Phone hold times long. Terrible etiquette. When someone is looking for a family member in an ER- you meet them with kindness not rudeness. Hospital staff are there to help the public not cause chaos. Thanks for nothing. I was transferred from St Mary’s where I was told my family member was in the ER. The ER receptionist said to “call my uncles wife”. Wow. I hope they find the recording of that call. No HIPPA information was being requested. Go through some training.

The nurse at the neurology department 5th floor was rude. The room of my brother was rude.

The staff that took care of my daughter during her delivery and stay were AMAZING! However, the hospital protocol was horrible! Only 2 people in room at a time and anyone else there had to wait outside! All waiting rooms were closed! That is insane! During the hospital tour my daughter and son in law were told the family could wait in the spacious waiting room but that did not happen, VERY disappointed in how that was handled, security guards at front desk signing you in and out, only allowing 2 to go to enter the hospital. Even the nurses told us we would be able to be in the waiting rooms. Such a disappointment because my daughter was told one thing when choosing this hospital and something completely different and the hospital not doing what it said it would do!

I had my baby here on 11/04/22 and everyone was absolutely amazing! My team of nurses were ontop of everything and were prepared for anything during my c-section. You guys are truly amazing and I definitely recommend this hospital!

My brother had to have surgery after being in the ED after an accident. My family and I been kept in the dark about everything and don’t even know how long the surgery is going to take. Abysmal communication.

Sorry I can't give ZERO starts.

My mom was take to the St Joseph ER from her primary physician for observation. She was placed in a room and basically forgotten after a few tests. I was able to get in to see her later in the evening. She had no idea what her status was due to lack of communication and was never given any food and/or drink. She still did seem ok as she was in a single room, so I left her for the evening. She texted later in the evening, that they were admitting her into the hospital. So in the morning we went to visit. She was still in the ER, but now in a shared room with another patient. This patient had MRSA infection and Streptococcus pneumonia. When my mom asked the nurses if she was ok to be in the same room, they just responded, "just don't touch her". However, they were touching everything in the room with their same gloves still on. It was not till about 10: 30 AM, 17 hours since she was admitted that they finally fed her for the first time. Since she was still in the ER, only one visitor is allowed, and my wife went in. I sat in the parking lot waiting for her to be admitted to the hospital, she never was. So I went to the front desk to ask for some assistance for my mom. I was told that I could send an email, really? So I let them know what the situation was, and I was given a phone number to call. Supposedly it was the EC Director's number, but have never received a response, ever. Later my mom did receive her breakfast, minutes prior to her receiving her lunch. Thankfully she was released later that day and she never contracted MRSA infection and/or Streptococcus pneumonia.

We have told our story to MANY people and medical professionals since. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO ST JOSEPH HOSPITAL. And many agree that we should not. Though I did meet some good, nice and helpful individuals. In my opinion the overall organization, internal communication structure, and its policies and procedures are not worth your time and/or your health.

My mom recently had to undergo an emergency procedure at St Joseph’s hospital. We thought my mom would be in and out of the hospital the following day. My sister and I were concerned about my mom, as she has dementia. We were concerned about not being with my mom 24/7 because my mom’s dementia causes extreme confusion and behaviors later in the day, or “sundowning”. My mom gets extremely confused in new environments and is not fully able to advocate her concerns for herself too. I am so thankful for the St. Joseph’s nurses and care staff for all of the techniques they used to keep my mom calm, connected and safe. The first night my mom was there, I advised staff about my mom’s sundowning behaviors and the possibility that my mom might try to leave. The care staff were so amazing and were able to install a camera system to assist in monitoring her safety. I was so impressed. I am also grateful that, while it would have been easier for my sister and I to have my mom discharged the following day as was originally planned, the doctors advised us that they wanted to keep her and monitor her for several different issues that arose after her operation. I am beyond grateful to the doctors, nurses and care team for making sure my mom’s health was their priority. I think the Care m mom received was a big factor in the success of my mom’s recovery. Thank you!
