Standing Stones Community reviews
3I went to Standing Stones Community Church yesterday and I was warmly greeted right from the start. The worship music was great and the pastor had a good, sound, biblical message. If you want to go to a Bible based church that does not shy away from eschatology and is NOT new age, this is it.
I attended this church for 3 years. My husband was on staff, and we were both heavily involved.
Early on, things were great. We built a close relationship with the pastor and his sweet family as well as others in the church. We truly felt like we had a church family.
As time passed, the overall vision of the church began to subtly change. It seemed that the church was becoming financially-driven rather than love-driven. We ultimately realized that any outside opinions were not welcomed or tolerated. When people began asking questions or addressing concerns about this shift, they were given the cold shoulder and bullied for having a different view than the pastor.
While there were various situations and reasons that played into our leaving, the main issue was the pastor’s inability to listen to opposing views. We watched him crumble a 25 year relationship with a member in our church and dear friend over an issue that could have easily been resolved. While the issue didn’t directly concern us, we were deeply troubled that our pastor wasn’t interested in true reconciliation. While I still love the people at this church, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend it in its current state.
They were warm and welcoming. They have a growing men's group consisting of a broad set of interest and ages. I will return. I really enjoyed it.
