Sunshine Acres Children’s Home, Mesa AZ

I just had the most moving experience taking a tour at Sunshine Acres-the “miracle in the desert”. This place is amazing, inspiring and fills me with hope. If you can take a tour, I highly recommend it. They have a thrift store and a boutique. Sales from them help fund things here. Roni gave us the best tour. If you need a good place to donate items, I would consider donating here. Not only are their basic needs met, they are given structure and guidance. They have chores. And they are shown love.

A lot of these reviews are aimed at the thrift store part of Sunshine Acres. While i can’t say that people did or didn’t experience what they claim, I will say that the prices are reasonable for what they are getting. Not only that, all proceeds are spent towards the cause. The children are very well taking care of there and LOVED. This is not your average “Orphanage”. They gain a family here and are given the opportunity to have many if not all the things that other children on the outside have. Sure, not all children like it because many don’t like having boundaries or rules because they didn’t have them prior to arriving. Most love it there and don’t want to leave. You don’t have to take my word for it, take the time to volunteer and see for yourself. Meet the children of Sunshine Acres!

Picked up a nice taller bike for my son today. Also found some unique items for myself. A lot to always see.

The prices at Sunshine Acres have more than doubled! Most items were marked at full retail price and some items marked more than retail price! Customer service was awful. I've never had an issue with the other location on Higley, but I will definitely not be returning to this location.

Came today for the first time ever and oh my goodness had no idea this place existed. Super happy with all the prices and discounts. Definitely recommend coming every day.

This is a great place to find great deals on furniture if one is looking. Alot of other things to look at as well. Always like to go and see.

Some items super over priced.then others are very reasonable.
Nice lay-out and air-conditioned.
Also restrooms on the premises.

I had to edit my review because somehow I wrote the original review but it was for a different place. I feel bad because the review was bad but totally not meant for sunshine acres. Sunshine acres is a very special place and can't really be described in this setting. They do a work that is beyond special as they provide a loving environment for children who are not wanted by their families or who cannot care for them. Very special people give their time and they are unsung hereos. If you are looking for a place to give service or donate money or items for their thrift store, you couldn't find a better organization to donate to.

Only went into their shopping area and ohhh how nice they have it set up. Very neat and clean and makes you want to shop and support the kids.however, the only thing that was annoying is that everything I liked and wanted, had a tag NFS which means not for sale.then why put it out? The whole point is to see what you like, buy it and support the kids but NOPE.so so many things said NFS and its discouraging. The prices were high on a lot of items that were just donated stuff, but the place was nice

Both the thrift shop and boutique are well organized and items are nicely arranged and displayed. It is worth the drive and the shops are located on the campus they support from the sales and donations.

I hate to write this because we love what Sunshine Acres does for the kids. My wife and I went there on 4-26-2022 to drop off some donation items. We arrived with our large suv loaded with kids clothes and toys, pictures, walkers etc. Alot of the clothes still had the tags on them because they were never worn before they were grown out of. We were told they wouldn't except the kids clothes and toys because they already had to much and didn't need anymore but they would search thru what we had and pick out what they needed or want. They told use we could go to another donation center located down the road to get rid of what was left. We told them they weren't going to pick and choose and asked if they had a dumpster available to throw the items out in. They said no and to use the other site instead of throwing away. We ended up taking our items to the Goodwill store and were greeted by grateful staff and were a pleasure to give our items to.
I am sorry to say but we will never be going to Sunshine Acres in the future to donate items. Very disappointing to be told by the staff they wouldn't except items to support the kids.

Wonderful thrift store, especially the VINTAGE store. It's theme has been changed to beautiful selection of Native American decor.much authentic!
Job well done.

Sunshine acres has assisted over 2,000 orphan since 1954 educating training and equipping children to stand strong for the Lord in society. I love their boutiques and clothing area fun place to shop
