Testal Mexican Kitchen reviews
18Cozy places for family and friends! They have Friday Karaoke which I love. The atmosphere is a great blend between traditional coffee shop and bar giving off uniqueness
On a business trip, I was in Phoenix for 3 days and always looking for a great place to eat. Testal is by far, a restaurant to enjoy. I seriously cannot g8ve them enough kudos! Thank you for the experience and education on your food and drink from Chihuahua! You are all phenomenal!
Food was really good
I eat Chile Colorado burrito and Jamaica drink, it was really tasty
By the way, it's not expensive at all
Came at 9: 20am to get a breakfast burrito. Breakfast burrito was lukewarm (cheese was not even melted). I think the beans inside were leftover and partially reheated. Hope I don't get sick.
Another reviewer mentioned that the restaurant appears to not have prep complete prior to opening. I also got this vibe while waiting for my burrito. Interestingly, the online ordering system is setup to allow the first order at 10: 05 am. Not sure why they are opening at 9 if they are not ready to go.
Had the chicharrón burrito and chile relleno burrito. Both burritos were so good! I enjoyed the relleno burrito more, but I would still get chicharrón next time.
I crave Testal probably every week. I love taking visitors to this local gem. I highly recommend the birria!
Coldest chorizo burrito I've ever had this morning. 10 minutes after opening. Is this a health issue?
I had the best carne asada burrito I've ever eaten here. Their Pinole Agua Fresca was also incredibly refreshing and delicious.
The food here was pretty good. I tried the carne asada tacos and the birria tacos. Both were good, but a little lacking in flavor.
The staff was very friendly.
The atmosphere was just ok. The patio faces a very busy street and there was no music or anything to cover the sound of traffic. Indoor was nice, but only had small tables for two. The bathroom was outside and very inconvenient to get to.
I would eat the food again as carry out, but probably wouldn’t dine in again.
OMG 1 of the best Mexican restaurants in Arizona. I will forever support the establishment when you taste the spectator, authentic Mexican flavors you will truly think you are in Chihuahua!
The staff was friendly, fast and helpful. The location was clean and parking there is easy. The music playing was great. They also participate in a program which helps reduce food waste. Maybe we just didn't try the right items? The asada was definitely not cooked like asada, it looked like they heated it in a pan with alot of oil and placed in the burrito and bowl we ordered. It also was not seasoned well and neither were the beans. My husband's burrito was dripping with oil on the bottom when he picked it up and it was not wrapped like a burrito, it was given to him like a taco. I could see the layer of oil in my bowl between the meat and beans. We didn't finish either item since it was all so greasy and I really don't like to waste food but we just didn't like it. My michelda was delicious and the mix this put around the rim was yummy.
Super fun, we love the food, the drinks since the cocktails are based on mexcal and especially the atmosphere created by DJ Caramel
The food is spot on, the location is charming and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. I couldn’t ask for better experience!
This is a place that reflects the local feel, food, and culture of Phoenix while also incorporating amazing Mexican spirits like Sotol. The burritos are so flavorful and the staff know their stuff
I have been coming to this place for a few years now and I love their cuisine. I give it four stars only because they don't make gorditas anymore: (those were my fav. Their Jamaica is original made from flour instead of syrup and I love it.
This place is an awesome representation of real comfort food from the northern state of México, Chihuahua. I stopped in not knowing what to expect since I was driving by and just noticed it. Testal also serves cocktails with the magical liquor of Sotol. Sotol is the base of their signature cocktail list, a multitude of refreshing cocktail are custom crafted and it's done well with the sotol that the bartender work with. I was quite impressed and taken to my ancestral roots since I'm very familiar with Sotol when many people don't have a clue what type of alcohol to classify it as. All together Every dish we had which was the birria tacos, poblano rajas with sour cream burrito and chicharrón burrito accompanied by a agua de jamaica and the sotol swizzle. Everything was satisfactory and definitely will stop by again when in the Downtown Phoenix area. Much love and success!
Unbelievably good Mexican food. Honestly one of the if not THE best burritos I've ever had. The shredded bead was so soft and perfectly spicy (extra spice is available though!). The flavours were perfect. Really loved it here. Staff were also really friendly and quick.
Good food and authentic to chihuahua. My only complaint is that the chile colorado burrito needs more juice because it is a little dry and a little more salt for the beans. The picadillo was very good and the pork rinds were spicy. The workers are very friendly and the place is very nice.
