The Grill at Hacienda Del Sol reviews
17My Bride and I have enjoyed The Grill for a couple of years now; exceptional! Good service, excellent food, and atmosphere is the best when its not a holiday/celebration day. Very, very pleasant!
Breakfast while staying at the Hacienda del Sol for 4 nights. Fruit plates can be a mystery when they are ordered. I was delighted with the array of fruit. Service was fine. And the view was incredible. A perfect start to the day!
Loved the food and Emily our server was so sweet and attentive. It was such a Beautiful view from where we were sitting. Definitely we will be coming back
Another amazing meal at Hacienda del Sol! Kudos to the chef on elegant, interesting, flavorful dishes! We enjoyed the chicken enchiladas, chicken caesar salad, and beef street tacos. The desserts were even more amazing and creative. Thank you to Roy, David, and the whole team for an outstanding experience! As Tucson locals, we will be back frequently!
My wife and I went to The Grill for our 1st anniversary dinner. We hadn’t done much research before hand, so we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful landscaping and views walking up to the restaurant. We were blown away by the level of service from the host and bus boys all the way to our server Nick. Nick was persistent about getting us a table with a view when he could tell my wife had another in mind after we were originally seated. He was extremely attentive just like the bus boys and he had excellent recommendations as well.
Food was pretty good. Not mind-blowingly good considering the price, but we really enjoyed our meal overall. We were very happy with our experience and will be recommending the Grill to our local friends in the future!
The first part of our meal was rushed... I hadn't even finished my salad when the entree arrived.
The entrees were disappointing. The relish on the salmon didn't complement the fish, and the salmon didn't "flake" as well as I would have liked. The soy-based sauce on my husband's white fish entree (I don't recall the specific fish) also didn't work.
The beet salad was good.
Lemon tart for desert was okay; creme brulee was good, though overloaded with berries in a rather non-decorous way. The dessert menu now features photos of the options, which seems a bit "Denny's" for a fine dining restaurant.
The Grill had been our go-to restaurant for special occasions for years, but our past two visits have been disappointing. The quality of the entrees, in particular, seems to have diminished.
We are sad to have to find another special occasion venue.
Came here for our wedding anniversary and the server was great, gave us free dessert, food was delicious I recommend!
I am writing this review specifically for the Mother's Day Brunch of 2023. I am highly disappointed in the overall experience especially the food for the price of $90 per adult. Simply put, there were not very many breakfast options, like waffles were missing. But most importantly, for a Mother's Day event, where moms will be showing up with their kids, where were the kid food options? Even more, why was there not anything fun for kids, even as simple as coloring sheets?
Also, most of the food was average at best. The chicken was tough. The muffins were dry. Some of the deserts were stale. The omelet lacked taste (they brought salt and pepper to the chefs at the omlet stand later).
Service was good, but it should be with an automatic 22% gratuity added to the bill. The one service complaint I have is that our waitress stopped clearing plates and bringing drinks after a certain amount of time. Again, for 22% gratuity and $90 per person, this should not happen.
I really love Hacienda del Sol overall. But I do not think I will be back for a brunch event in the future.
Was there for a birthday celebration with 7 other people. I ordered the grilled top sirloin, medium well. There wasn't much flavor but the worst part was in the center it was red, like cool almost not even cooked red. No one seemed to enjoy anything they got, one of which ordered the salmon. He had to wait probably 5 minutes longer than the rest of us and the reason why.they had to make sure it was the right temperature. He ended up switching plates with his wife. No one, except two people (one of which got a salad) finished their dinners and not because of the abundance of food. To spend that kind of money on dinning out, everyone's food should arrive together and cooked as ordered, with at least some flavor. I will not go there again and don't recommend it to anyone. There are fine restaurants out there that serve much better food. I've gotten better steak at Texas Road House.
Used to love The Grill but last night was very disappointed in the food. Our server, wine, and apps pretty good. However, the gnocchi with morels had no flavor, amberjack was over cooked and tasted fishy, and steak was just ok. So many better places for the price tag/in general. Would not recommend.
Sunday Brunch
I was expecting more from a resort. Food was medicore, nothing special. The hostesses seemed annoyed and waiter wasnt very attentive. All the tables around us had to keep stacking our used brunch dishes on the dirty table behind us as they were rarely at our table to pick them up. For as much as you pay I was disappointed in our experience. The grounds are beautiful though with a stunning view.
Worst Easter brunch in the history of Easter brunches. Here is what was bad: price too high for offerings, waiter overheard saying push the up charges, forced tipping, 45 minute wait when had a reservation (they literally kept seating 3 and 4 tops but not us, even people with later reservations), wouldn’t let us speak with MOD. Overall a huge waste of time and money. The food was a joke. Subpar at best.
While we’ve had excellent food and service in the past (having eaten there at least 4-5 times in the past 5 months), last night’s experience was absolutely terrible, both from a food quality standpoint as well as from the waitstaff.
It started with a cocktail that tasted as though the grapefruit juice had spoiled. We sent it back. Next, we ordered the charcuterie board appetizer that got delivered to our table literally 3 minutes before our entrees came and didn’t have time to enjoy it before our main courses. It was obvious they held our entrees because they were both lukewarm at best when we were served and my filet was so undercooked (basically raw, not even rare (and I ordered it medium) that it was not edible.
I wanted to send it back but our waiter kept disappearing several times, leaving us sitting at the table and not checking on how our meal was. Very, very inattentive. Finally got his attention, he took my steak back and it came back cut up in little chunks of now charred, inedible pieces. We immediately got our check and left.
For a restaurant that projects an image of upscale dining, that image felt flat on its face. Doubt we will go back.
While the view and atmosphere was awesome the food was exactly the opposite! Sadly disappointed. Rose wine was served warm and filet migon served cold.
Mixed organic green salad was replaced with wilted brown romaine. Ribeye steaks were horrible. Salmon entree was cold. 15 plates overall and 2 received their plates at least 15 minutes after everyone was served. Overall a disappointing dining experience for a team we invited from all over the country. The only positive was the server did her very best but truly needed assistance for a group this size.
We were very excited to check this restaurant because of the high ratings and celebrate my birthday but we were disappointed.
Ambiance and our waiter was great.
We ordered salads to start and they were good. My friend ordered the shrimp risotto and there was no flavor at all. Our food was also an average. We expected more for those prices.
Anyway my friend who ordered the risotto wanted to change it. As I said the rice was horrible.
She got a salad instead. In the middle of dinner she screamed. There was a huge dead bug in her salad. As big as a wasp.
No one wanted to eat after that.
The manager was very nice. She brought me birthday cake and champagne and was very apologetic.
They took the salad and the risotto off the bill but still I don’t think we will be going back.
For an expensive restaurant I don’t think this is acceptable!
When I am paying high prices I am expecting high quality food!
Anniversary dinner with the wife. View of the mountains was pretty good. Oysters were delicious and fresh. Drinks were very heavy handed in the pour. Cesar salad decent 6/10. Lobster Alfredo want very tasty and not much lobster for the price 3/10. Braised beef short rib was pretty tender needed more seasoning 4/10. Crème brûlée was decent vanilla forward nice crisp on top 8/10. Lemon cheese cake was basic yet the sherbet was the star. Cheese cake 4/10 sherbet 9/10. Service was great. Interior could use some modern updating. For two people with drinks and tip it was almost $400. Many other places are better for less. Entire good experience 3/10.
