Review segment 1 of 4:

General: The food is excellent, but you'd be better off staying literally anywhere else and just visiting the restaurants. It's exorbitantly expensive, and they still charge you for something every time you turn around, and provide you the absolute bare minimum for a hotel stay (of any tier). The service would probably be great if they didn't overwork their employees and had more staff to take care of their guests. Oh, and don't think you can get in anywhere to eat or relax during your stay unless you've made reservations several days ahead of time. I have provided more detailed pros/cons below. You have been warned!

Negative:
-Room- My mother and I flew to AZ to aid in a family health issue, and because it was going to be a long and stressful visit, I thought I would treat my mother and myself to a stay at this luxurious resort (it was Mother's Day as well, after all). Because we would be spending all of our downtime during these 10 days at the resort, I wanted to make sure we had an absolutely spectacular view, as shown in the pictures on their website. Upon booking I emphasized this factor, and the concierge helped guide my room selection appropriately, although they recommended a follow up call before I flew out to verify the room selection. I called twice before arriving to verify, and each time was assured of the beautiful garden views we'd get to enjoy during our 10-day extended stay. I traveled for 16 hours to get there, and at the end of a long day, I arrived late in the evening for check in. Before even going to the room to get settled for the night, I again verified the room requirements with the concierge. He said he was unsure of the view of that room, but if we were unsatisfied with the space once we got there, he would happily move us. (This is laughable in retrospect). It took several minutes to get to our room, as it was the very last one at the end of the hotel, past many utility spaces and conference rooms. It was probably a storage space that was later converted to a room. The room was spacious, but seemed unfinished (some items in the room were still extremely dirty (spilled makeup, and a few unknown substances), there was a garbage bag still in the room, and the beds looked as though they'd merely been made, not newly cleaned). I was so exhausted after traveling so long that I was willing to let these issues go so I could get to sleep. But then we opened the draperies to assess our "beautiful view" that we'd be gazing at for the next 10 days: it was the gravel rooftop, huge metal exhaust vents for the hotel, and their loading dock where utility vehicles and delivery men frequented! It was so ludacris it seemed to be a cruel joke. The bellhop asked about where to put our luggage, and I felt awful making him wait, but the concierge insisted we call if there were any issues with the view, and this was too much to overlook. However, after being on hold for almost 10 minutes, I finally got through to the concierge, only to find out that moving us to another room would be IMPOSSIBLE as they had every.single.room.booked out for the next several days. And this was not at limited capacity due to Covid restrictions, this was every single room being taken up on the entire property! About halfway through our stay they'd have a room open up elsewhere on the property, but until then we were stuck. When we moved, we were glad to at least have a better view, but the second room was so cramped that you couldn't leave the room if either of the closets or the bathroom doors were open! Surely this is a fire hazard? ! We also had an alarming cleanliness issue in the new room (the second day of our stay there we discovered someone had spilled popcorn in our room in the middle of the floor while we'd been out! There isn't even a microwave in the room, and this happened while we were gone during the day, so it was very alarming to find).

The hotel is beautiful and there is a lot to do. Sierra, our Waitress at the Thirsty Camel Bar was an absolute delight and made the dining experience really enjoyable.

I have been saying at this resort since I was a very little girl. Oh how disappointed I am today as I check out with my family. The quality of service was so poor our stay from housekeeping to the wait staff by the pool, at the restaurants even at the bar in the lobby. When our room was made up it was done so haphazardly that look like my children made the bed. Anytime we sat by the pool we had to wait forever to get anyone to come and help us. At the restaurants the servers had to be asked at least three times to get some thing as simple as a glass of ice. On check out day I called and called the bell desk, the front desk, and the operator and got no answer for at least 30 minutes. I even called from my cell phone the outside line to the hotel and did not get through. What a disappointment! At one time this was such a premier resort and the way that we were treated this time made me feel like I was at some unrated hotel.

Horrible overpriced room! Dirty, dated, spiders. Flat, lumpy pillows. Rough dirty looking towels. When we asked for new pillows, they dropped them off on the floor of our room when we were out. AC was not working as well as it should. We asked for a discount - they gave us $50.00. What an insult! Beautiful and elegant outside premises/ I guess it does not matter about the quality of the room.

The Phoenician did not disappoint! Every staff member was a joy to speak to. The rooms were spacious and updated. Pools were very relaxing. The food was some of the best I ever had. Top notch athletic club. The only suggestion is that if you want to use the spa or have a poolside cabana, be sure to make a reservation beforehand! They do fill up fast.

Great experience, multiple pools which weren’t crowded, despite being Labor Day weekend. They gave us a free room upgrade since we had two little kids so we were at an end room and had a balcony. Beautiful hotel, nice facilities. My only complaint is how long we had to wait for room service. Maybe 45 min for 2 desserts.but they were delicious!

Our stay at the Phoenician was excellent. Very nice clean room, with built in Chromecast and the free WiFi was awesome. Had dinner at Mowry & Cotton, and the food was very good. Recommended the grilled shrimp and lamb tacos. The resort has a lot of different things to do, couldn't try all of it but would like to stay again soon.

It is what it is.world class resort. Everything you need at your fingertips. Golf, spa, fitness, pools, food, outdoor relaxation and close to other activities. Expect to pay for what you get but you’ll enjoy every minute of your stay.

We stayed in 5187 and ate like lunch at Mowry and Cotton. The room was exactly as advertised, very clean, quiet, and the staff was friendly. The food was delicious and the presentation tasteful.

One of the nicer hotels in town, this place is undergoing a renovation so check which area you will be in. The golf club restaurant, a local favorite overlooking the green, is currently closed. Great lobby and convention center facilities and easy to find on Camelback Road, the intersection where you turn in is named "phoenecian" and don't be thrown when you get stopped at the gate, they are just there to direct you to the right location, the place is big!

One of the most luxorious resorts in Phoenix, AZ. Not only is this resort great for vacationing, they're also a popular spot for local, statewide, and private events!

Amazing. The rooms are large and very comfortable. This place is expensive so don't expect Holiday In pricing on anything. My only complaint is the horrid pillows. If possible, bring your own.

Samantha was an excellent server at Mowry and Cotton. Great ambiance. Wasn't a 100%fan of the salmon but overall totally worth the price of admission

Wow. My friend and I booked this hotel because it had great reviews back in April. We had no idea what we did. This is a full out resort with multiple pools an excellent spa a number of restaurants and bars. The room was very large and comfy the bathroom was amazing as well. Highly recommend this place. Oh I shouldn't forget the staff who were courteous and friendly. I am definitely coming back here

My group had an evernt at the Canyon Suites meeting rooms. I had never been to the property before, bit it was stunning! The service staff was very friendly from the valets to the servers to the meeting planners. The food was excellent and the professionalism of everyone I interacted with was exceptional. The room we were in was comfortable. One strange thing was that the bathroom attached to the meeting room had a tub and a shower. I'm not sure why.

I love love love this places food but was a little disappointed when we went and there was a bunch of construction because I love the vibe that this place gives off. The menu is amazing. If you like beets and goat cheese do the salad before dinner. Love it! Also the patio off of the restaurant is very enjoyable and romantic.

Beautiful property with well-appointed rooms. Good food and service at the bar and restaurants (except Mowry and Cotton restaurant, the younger servers need training). There were some miscommunications at the hotel but after speaking to management corrections were made immediately. They turned a potentially negative situation into a positive. Impressive. Overall, It was expensive, but well worth it.
