"I've been on my boxing journey for over two years, starting at a national franchise that closed its doors. This twist of fate led me to Duane and The Pound in Scottsdale. From the first intense and eye-opening workout, I was completely captivated. The Pound isn't just about breaking a sweat; it's a hub of genuine boxing knowledge where the trainers are masters of the craft. The focus on technique and the essence of boxing is what sets this gym apart. Each session is more than just a workout; it's a lesson in the 'sweet science', gradually refining my skills and pushing me beyond my limits. For anyone looking to dive into authentic boxing training, The Pound is the perfect place to lace up your gloves and learn from the best. Their patient and knowledgeable instruction ensures you improve with every jab and hook. Highly recommended! "

Just took my first class here and really enjoyed it! The structure of the class was great by not only focusing on a workout but on technique as well. Definitely will be coming back!

I have never stepped foot into a boxing gym before. I found The Pound Gym online and reached out. Duane was very inviting and friendly when I was unsure and had a ton of questions. I attended my first class at the beginning of May… I had no clue what to expect… and I’ve been hooked ever since!

Everyone is very friendly and are all there to learn boxing and to get a great workout in. Duane has been very patient teaching the fundamentals to someone like myself that has never boxed a day in my life. He has been able to push and encourage me to do a little more and a little better every time I walk into the gym. I’m very happy I found The Pound Gym and am being taught the proper technique of boxing by a consummate professional like Duane!

Ruined my confidence with boxing. I really tried to avoid this review but after a year, I decided to write a review. I'm a beginner boxer. I came in on a Friday night for Boxing basics and it was taught by Duane. He decided to pair people up for drills. I'm 5'6 in my forties and he paired with a 6'2 guy in his twenties and outweighs me by 40 pounds at least. The drill was throwing light jabs to partner's glove to learn about spacing. My partner who is very "punch heavy" and loves violence kept hitting me in my face. It was a CLEAR advantage for my parter becuase he's much taller and with a longer reach. Duane saw this. It was supposed to last 2 rounds but Duane kept me and my partner to do the drill over and over again. He kept yelling at me to move my feet a certain way which was never taught to us in class and it was hard when you have a 6'2 guy throwing hard jabs in your face hard. He kept doing this drill with me and only him again, again, and again. It's to the point were the entire class just stopped to watch this man repeated punch me in the face over and over again. I understand that Duane wanted to me learn but my partner was trying to kill me and going full force. I obvliously have no idea on how to block and move my feet. AND Duane kept making us doing the drill again, again, again. So this is what happened, I get repeated punched in a face by a man much taller than me who's trying to knock me out, Duane screaming instructions at me and obviously getting disappointed, this lasted for 15 painful mintues. This was not a sparring class, it was a cardio, begginer boxing class to teach about the basics. Afterwards, I heard someone made a comment about me, "he likes getting punched in the face. " I tried to talk to Duane afterwards to learn what I could have done differently but he didn't care and just wanted to go home. I quit boxing and I will NEVER come in again.

A quick read through Duane’s background will confirm that his boxing credentials are legit. But it’s his skill as an instructor that really distinguishes the experience at Pound Gym. Duane is a an excellent teacher who takes pride in his work and pushes members to be their best. The vibe is inclusive and inspiring and I’m proud to be learning the art of boxing at Pound.

I had been boxing elsewhere. Duane soon had me realize that there was a whole lot he had to help me correct. Overall though, just a fantastic workout and I will keep learning. You want results with real boxing fundamentals? A real workout that will keep you progressing? !? Work out here!

Here for the weekend and I wish I'd found this spot to go boxing earlier so I could've come more than once. Super low key chili vibes, instructor is legit, people are so friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend if you're in town!

I love boxing classes with Duane and his team. Even if you’ve never punched anything your whole life, you’ll be fine.
You always get a great workout but the best part is that they take the time to teach you about the sport. Proper technique, stance, motion, etc. I am in better shape and more confident in myself because I'm learning how to be better at something.

Great for all ages from kids to 60s and 70s. I’m 40 and often the youngest in class.
