The Scottsdale Plaza Resort & Villas reviews
17 Needed a relaxing space to decompress while traveling for a family emergency.
The grounds are beautiful.
We had a creepy experience with the guest next door, which the staff (Tina?) handled professionally and discreetly.
However, the resort is not well lit at night and does not feel safe. Walking from my room to the lobby to have my key re-keyed late at night was frightening. Once the key had been "fixed" it still did not work. I didn't want to make the creepy walk again, so I had to wake up my mother, who was terrified until she realized it was me banging on the door.
When I explained this to the guy at the desk the next morning, he was condescending and tried to tell me that the deadbolt was locked on my door, which was just not true.
Upon arrival, the bellhop was extremely unprofessional, and I felt uncomfortable leaving my mother alone with him in the golf cart, while I trailed behind in the car.
The vent in the bathroom looks like it has not been cleaned in about 15 years, and soundproofing between the rooms is non-existent.
I will not be returning to this resort.
This is a nice resort. I didn't get a chance to see the whole resort however. We stayed because our flight home was canceled and we needed a place to stay one more night. Without a doubt, I would stay here should I return to Phoenix/Scottsdale.
My husband and I stayed for our anniversary and it was perfect. Everywhere was clean and tidy. We loved the pools, fitness centre and spa. All the staff were all fantastic and the shuttle into Scottsdale was a great bonus. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we hope to come back!
Comfortable place to stay, pools and hot tubs are great. Onsite restaurants and bars have decent food, drinks, and entertaiment.
Amazing place to relax and enjoy with friends.
Great restaurant, lounge, pool area. Nice rooms, fast room service. My room was up a steep incline followed by a flight of stairs, I wish I'd known to ask for a lower level. After a long day lounging, with great service, I ordered a cheese pizza to go, and got pepperoni. Didn't realize it until I'd hauled it back to my room. Went back to the bar later to get something else, and the bartender was having a bad night and spreading the frustration around.
All the staffs here are very friendly, professionally, and have positive energy. Especially Chris at the front desk. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. And we will visit Scottsdale Plaza Resort again if we go back to Scottsdale.
This place was okay, I messed up and got 2 doubles instead of a king, in the room they literally had one of everything which I thought was hilarious.they had one robe, one free water, one extra cover, towel, and pillow lol I just thought it was funny.the jds bar was nice and drinks are good, music too but overall this place was OK.not resort great but good.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND - AMAZING SERVICE / AMENITIES, and the hotel landscaped grounds are gorgeous and perfectly manicured! I've travelled often throughout Covid and this hotel has NOT skimped on any amenities. The entire hotel staff were always friendly, helpful, engaging and overall happy. Many hotels have taken away room and public spaces (bar/restaurant) amenities since covid, but Plaza Resort still provides room and bathroom toiletries/essentials and all public spaces have remained opened. The hotel rooms are not the most modern, but they are large and the resort's beautiful grounds and open restaurants/pools/bars make up for it. The pool scene is friendly to both family and younger friend crowds. The hot tub is huge, the biggest I've ever seen from all my travels.
PROs:
- Multiple pools, ALL heated
- Largest hot tub I've seen
- Beautiful landscaped property
- Friendly staff
- Accommodating staff that seeks to help you, rather than scoff at covid restrictions
- Great pool bar service
- Easy parking throughout entire week
- Large rooms
- Great A/C
- Fast Wifi
- Multiple restaurants directly across street that is walkable
CONs:
- Not the most updated rooms (if that matters)
- Restaurant food selection was limited and not the most exciting menu. In fact, both restaurants menu choices were so mundane that we walked across the street every night for dinner.
I came for a conference. Everybody working there was super helpful. A good time was had by all.
Great customer service, immaculate rooms. Love the shuttle service to the rooms. Like the onsite restaurants. Looking forward to my next visit!
This resort was beautiful! Certainly surprising for an older resort with such reasonable room rates - the fitness center, the grounds and landscaping, the location and the rooms exceeded our expectations. Certainly beats staying at the Courtyard Marriott in old town for the same price! We would definitely stay here again!
Nice resort, and staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. Many seemed like they needed training, were new, or weren't familiar with their tasks, or how to open the umbrella, or what to do when the bartender had stepped away. We had a problem with our charges/fees which was handled poorly, and I didn't feel like arguing. However, a few days later management reached out and corrected it. They were all trying, but not a polished staff by any means.
Room was nice, and we even received an upgrade to presidential suite, which was appreciated. We were a bit surprised about the carpet which was heavily stained, but other than that it was well maintained and very clean.
I attended a gala event. The place was beautiful, the food was delicious but the parking was terrible. I almost left without going inside. And there was no signage to let me know where other parking might be, or which direction the event building was - or at least nothing that was lit up that could be seen at night.
Over all a nice place, older but well maintained. Very good breakfast and great customer service. We had an issue and it was resolved without question right away.
Incompetence. Overpriced while failing to meet basic expectations. Management in need of consultation to address matters.
I visited this location with my 2 best friends for a relaxing girls trip. We enjoyed ourselves and felt like the amenities were worth the price point. We actually checked out the gym and it was HUGE. It was by far the best gym that I've seen at a hotel/resort type location. The main pool area was very nice as well and we seemed to visit this resort at a great time because it was not crowded at all.
Bathroom Issue:
On the first night we noticed that the shower was slow to drain, we called maintenance in the AM and the had someone out to fix it right away. This was great and that issue was resolved by the time we returned from the day's activities.
Food:
The only place we tried for food was the bar location right near the front desk. We ate there twice and it was fine for a quick bite with your typical bar menu.
Spa:
This was the only aspect I was not really pleased with at all but will discuss that in their specific review.
Overall I feel like this place is a good option for a Scottsdale stay.
I loved this resort! It was so beautiful and the staff were amazing. I loved the scallion biscuits and chorizo gravy. It’s such a great venue to have a wedding. I stayed in a bi-level king suite and absolutely enjoyed it. So spacious and cozy anyone who stays will love it. It’s like a campus there, so many pools and room sections. The 9000’s are a little bit confusing since there are the 9000s rooms/suites and the 9200s which are the lodges. Those are not located near each other so my advice is to remember your map that they give you at check-in. I unfortunately forgot it and walked around a few times just assuming the 9200s were in the 9000s section. I finally found a shuttle that took me right where I needed to go. This resort has a great location. Right across the street there’s a nice little plaza with a Jamba Juice and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. There’s also an awesome park that has an actual mini train that kids can ride on. Old Town Scottsdale is only a five minute drive where there are so many shops and restaurants.
