VCA Thumb Butte Animal Hospital, Prescott AZ

We are so happy to have found VCA Thumb Butte Animal Hospital. We are new to the area and our 18 year old cat Rosie was not doing well at all and we called around to see if we could get in somewhere that same day, and VCA Thumb Butte took us within a few hours. Brandy was so helpful in getting us in that same morning. We saw the technician, Steven, and he was very good at his job and very kind and caring, realizing that I was kind a mess, knowing that Rosie was in pretty bad shape. Then we met Dr. Coston, and she very knowledgeable and was SO compassionate, and I just can't say enough good things. She helped me make a very difficult, but necessary decision that day. We have other pets and have definitely found our new Vet / Animal Hospital. Highly recommend this facility. The staff is absolutely SO wonderful.

A vet clinic that tries to hustle you, does not tell you the prices of the visit until you check out, and is not very clean.
I felt that my spouse was being hustled the first time he went for our puppies first "check up". The doctor wanted to do all these unnecessary added options. The Neuter alone was going to be $850, that does not include the "visit fee" He also felt uncomfortable by the doctors factual and rude demeanor. They did not even fill out his Immunization Record. When he went to check out, he was astonished by the big vet bill, which they did not inform him of anything during the visit. I went there for the second shot (just the shot) and VCA wanted to charge me for a $70 doctors visit just to administer a shot (5 way) you can get at Tractor Supply for $15 and do it yourself. Other Vets do not charge you for "the visit". If I could give 0 stars I would.

He really loves his treatment at our Family's VCA Animal Hospital. The entire staff and veterinarians are professional very skilled and caring. In doggy talk.those were his words not ours. Right? , Comet.

VCA Thumb Butte Hospital is top drawer, true professionals. They love their profession and it shows in their care and love. There are vets that live closer but I will travel the hour and a half to get to the the best, VCA Thumb Butte Hospital.

The staff was fine but I thought it was very inappropriate how the doctor made me feel hustled! I brought my dog in to ask about her red eye. The doctor did an eye exam and did not inform me of the additional charge until he was finishing up the process. It was also in the form of a statement and not a question. I am the sole provider of three with a menial job that doesn't pay much so I was very frustrated with this extra $100 charge that was basically hustled out of me. Very unprofessional approach for a doctor, I was taken aback. Although I was very disappointed I was willing to work out a payment plan but they refused. So I refused to pay and left! They're unwilling to hear me out on the phone when I called about it even though I was totally cool, calm, and collected with them. The guy on the phone held his composure but was also very rude. Now they want to send me to collections and potentially Court for this $160 bill instead of improving the way they do business legally and how they treat their clients.

From a pre-pandemic Yelp review by someone who was not happy with Dr. Z or Dr. Coston: "No one ever takes responsibility or apologizes-they just get defensive. I have spent over $8000 at THIS office! Had to go to the emergency 2 times to get them diagnosed because they didn't do it. "

In any case, please sign the online petition "Justice for Vanessa Gutierrez. " She was a former employee at another VCA. Like many vet assistants, she was mistreated, overworked, and underpaid.

Visited Thumb Butte Animal Hospital today with my 17 year old cat. So thankful for Dr Coston and Dr Hufford's
comprehensive care. The staff is always up to date and extremely courteous. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful animal hospital and staff available to us.

The counter girl with all the pink make up was very snotty to me. Place wants the most expensive everything. Think it’s about time to contact the IRS cause it shouldn’t cost 800 dollars to put down an old cat.over billing and not reporting taxes.hope your books are in order, have appointment at the IRS next week to compare billing practices. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, they over charge for EVERYTHING. Spent over 20 gran here in the last five years. No more never again. IRS is comming, I’ll see to that.

I did always think the office personnel and the assistants were nice and professional, but I am disappointed with my most recent interaction with them. I wanted to get my pets heart worm prescription refilled since they sent me an email reminder. They won’t refill it because they said he needed an exam first. I explained that he just had an exam at another vet in Phoenix in September and sent them the verification. It is sad that they are only interested in money and not my bed getting his medicine, so now I have to go back to Phoenix to get a new prescription. I have explained to them that I live in two places and so I have to Animal hospitals. I have been doing this for 3 years so I don’t know why all of a sudden they have changed their policy. In the past they had always refilled the prescription without any questions.

Very disappointed that they are still not letting owners in with their pets. They are obviously not following the science when it comes to COVID-19. I have decided to find another clinic that is not scared of the public. They have every right to continue with their policy. I have every right to move on. Last year did a number on some people. Very sad

I am very happy with the care my dog receives at VCA Thumb Butte. They are very organized, responsive, and give quality care. The front office staff is always friendly and kind, too.

Thanks Dr. Z.always help all my dogs! Turns put they are all over weight, guess we treat them a little too much!

It was okay but they were still doing curbside service. Missed meeting Doctor and interaction regarding my puppy. Great organization.

We have used a few different clinics and VCA is our choice, we did not have issues with the other clinics but this one works for us.

By far the worst VCA hospital I ever had been to. The staff has been short, unprofessional, and down right rude.

Edit: I called to have my CareClub membership and VetSource delivery canceled, and to have me removed from the roster, the "manager" there said I had an account balance due, which was false, my last vet visit, bordotello shot, and blood work was all covered by CareClub, yet, this company was trying to scam me for more money.

Find a local veterinary, there are better places that this sham of a pet care place.
