Vern Lewis Welding Supply, Inc., Mesa AZ

I have shopped at the East Valley location for years without incident until yesterday. My wife and I visited with the intent of purchasing a new TIG machine. The machine we were looking at had a price clearly marked on it. After agreeing to purchase it along with about $300.00 worth of accessories the counter person started to enter all of the items and realized the price on the machine had not been updated. He questioned the price to the "manager" (who had an attitude the whole time we were in the store) said that price was old and was lower than his cost. I find that hard to believe since it was their last one in stock. The salesman told us the price was $200.00 more. We asked why they would not honor the original price and was told this is the price with out any negotiating attempt. Long story shortened we visited a different welding supply store and was able to purchase the same exact machine for the price Vern Lewis originally had marked on the machine. You have lost us as customers over $200.00.

I haven't had a bad experience here yet. The staff, of whom I've interacted with, have been Friendly and Helpful and not condescending. I appreciate that immensely.

I am not a welder but I come here to fill my propane tanks for my camper and grill. The staff is always very friendly and able to help right away. The propane is always at a very competitive price and I will always keep coming back here. AWESOME SERVICE WITH A SMILE!

Very helpful, very knowledgeable, I like this place so much that I opened up an account with them. I will choose this place over airgas any day. If there is something you want or need and they dont have it. They will get it for you.

I rented an nitrogen tank, 1st tank was 90% empty so had to have it to filled. So After 2 or 3 week I returned tank to get my deposit back and was charged for 2 months rental fee.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I have been trying to get a replacement part for my welding helmet for a while now and it seems like they don’t care. I asked to have the part ordered over two weeks ago and I still haven’t heard anything, even though all of my information was written down. After I get the part, I will not be returning to that Vern Lewis store or I’ll take my business somewhere else.

Terrible customer service! Stay away from the Main & 81st store! The man that works weekends acts like he hates customers, almost knocked a large cylinder into the side of my truck. I highly recommend their management team to get rid of this guy. I am taking my business to Matheson Tri Gas even though they are further away, at least Matheson appreciates their customers!

Like the place but bought a tank of argon and found it wasn't pure. Thought of all places, a welding shop should sell pure argon. Disappointing.

Went in to get welding cable. Asked for 11 feet and was charged 11 feet. Got home and it was 10 foot 2 inches short by 8 inches. I kinda figured something might not be right when he was holding the wire in the air staring at it measuring it out by hand. Come to find out there are marks on the wire that even specify what foot it is on the spool.

These guys are great! Location is relatively convenient, they're OPEN ON SATURDAY (which is awesome) and the people inside are super friendly and helpful. Oh and the prices are reasonable too. A rare combination these days!

Extremely knowledgeable and helpful was able to point me to exactly what I needed and being new to welding even had classes to offer me in training

Total rip off beware,
Took my Hobart welder in to have it checked out and they charged me $85 to check it out,
Then after 1 week they said it needed a new gun at a cost of $188 I thanked them and told them i didnt want to do it. They said i could come in and pick it up, 2 days later when i went in on a thursday they said it wasnt there it was in their Glendale office and wouldnt be back until the following tuesday, it has now been almost 3 weeks since i dropped it off.
When I arrived to pick it up I double checked the problem and was informed that the gun needed to be replaced before they could finish testing it, I asked them if why they didn't at least Install one to finish testing it and was told I DON'T KNOW! SURE gLAD I DIDN'T PAY THE $188 for the gun only to be told then it would be something else.

After pick i by it up and got it home I noticed they didn't even put it it back together.

I will never do business with them again,
And now you have been warned what you do is up to you.

I don't know about this place. They tried to tell me that my bottle was out of spec, and then offered me an older bottle. Maybe an honest mistake. Not sure.

My son and I enjoyed the friendly, helpful, and no pressure attitude we experienced in shopping at Vern Lewis Welding Suppy on Feb. 11,2013. Chuck and Scott were very knowledgeable regarding the equipment and services they provide and helped us fill our needs for beginning a new business.
