Village Inn, Avondale AZ

We just left the location off McDowell and 99th Ave. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE EAT THERE! The server Jesse was not attentive, we were ordering and he was walking away saying "uh huh". While handing out the plates, he handed them to us to pass them to the person who ordered it, charged us for an item we didn't order, didn't offer refills. We ordered a fried steak plate, very little gravy, fried steak was on top of the hash browns, their pancakes were rubbery, the English muffins were way over buttered (had to return them). Bad service in general! When we were ready to leave the system was down and we were asked to sit back down until it came back up. No receipt was given either. We have not been to Village Inn in a long time and to receive service like this, it was very disappointing! We would not recommend this place.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. Robin “the manager” is the worse, extremely disrespectful and I even witnessed him being rude to his own employee, the cashier. I placed an order over the phone; they said 10-15 mins my order wasn’t ready after 30 mins then after I asked how long more he starts being very rude and said he’d rather take dine in customers instead. I was only asking for a time frame instead he said he didn’t know and if I wanted to I could just leave.

Always friendly staff and really good food. Try the veggie omelette with whole grain pancakes!

I would really love rather to 0 stars. This place had gone down hill. I've had been a customer for over 20 years. But the food is awful now. Cups with lipstick stains and roaches! The service is poor and the main manager is a total idiot and a bigot. I have observed him mistreating employees. I'm sad because it was a family meeting place breakfast every weekend but I will never go back there!

Jesse is the man! His multiple roles of taking care of the front, waiter, cashier, clearing tables…. He’s so efficiently GREAT in what he does! 6am crew that supports him also deserve kudos!

Perhaps the worst eggs Benedict I've ever tasted. Hash browns. ICE cold. Great pie. Breakfast for 4 was $85. YIKES

Ordered at 8: 50, was supposed to be ready at 9: 39 according to email confirmation, arrived at 9: 42, waited for 5 mins to get someone in front counter, was told food will be ready soon, ok… 10: 08, still waiting…. No employees on front of restaurant, lines to pay for your food and check out, lines of customers waiting to get their names on the list, terrible service! Avoid this place.

Finally got my food at 10: 24, place is a Joke

Food was excellent and affordable. Server brought Food but neglected to ask if there was anything we needed (hot sauce) and disappeared until we were done eating. Memo to self to ask for hot sauce when placing the order.

Had lunch with disabled hubby today after Dr. Appt. Received an alert from my credit card that it was hacked. This was the ONLY time I’ve used this credit card in a restaurant In over a Year! After receiving a text message from a stranger asking for my name, I declined. My cc alert notified me and the card was cancelled. SOMEONE in this restaurant is hacking credit and debit cards! Don’t go here. I tried calling but no answer so will call again in the morning. Don’t use a card at this restaurant! Don’t go here at all.

The family favorite for breakfast was very busy on Saturday, but we were seated very quickly.

Thick buttermilk pancakes is the way to go and just the right size. Food portions are good size. Fried chicken skillet feeds two guests. Prices are fair for the food and Good customer service. Short wait time to have a table. Pretty of parking space.

It’s so nice when we can eat at a Village Inn. Great food and awesome service from Jesse today.

1 server on Free Pie Wednesday. Need I continue? But this is the third time we have eaten at the Avondale location and it's the same every time. We have to ask a manager to send a server over. We will not be giving a 4th chance.

I visited with my two children for breakfast/brunch. We were very satisfied with our server. She was friendly, quick, and accommodating. Food portions are nice & it tasted good. I wish it would have been hotter or even warmer. It was more lukewarm on the verge of being cold soon.
Unfortunately, my son found a hair on his pancake. It was shorter in length and my daughter & I have longer darker hair, so I can pretty much guarantee it wasn't ours. Not to mention, we weren't anywhere near his plate. Secondly, when I went to leave I noticed that the back of the booth was extremely dirty. It had dust, food crumbs, and even a sizeable bunch of hair. Cleanliness is huge when it comes to restaurants for me & it just didn't do it.

If it weren't for their incredible pies I'd never go back. My employee prefers pie to cake and for his birthday I like to buy them a special treat! Everyone knows VI has the best pies. So, I called ahead and ordered 2 pies for pickup later the same evening. The call itself was great! There was a dedicated pie hot line even. The employee that answered the phone was sweet and professional. She assured me that there would be no issues having my 2 pies ready for 6 hours later and that if they ran into any unforeseen issues they'd call me. I arrived at the restaurant at 7pm and the parking lot looked pretty barren. Walked in and not an employee in sight. For like 6-7 minutes I stood there not seeing one single employee. There were a few tables of guests eating. Finally an employee passed by and asked if I'd been helped. I told her I was there to get my pies and she immediately found my ticket. But, no pies had been pulled and none of what I ad ordered were in the case. She went to the back to look and another employee came up to break it to me that they couldn't fill my order because it was pie Wednesday and her manager tells them to fill the free pie orders for patrons coming in as a priority to phone orders even if the phone order came first. Ummmmmmmmm what? Nobody told me this. I asked if I could have paid ahead and was told no. But apparently there's an online order system so maybe if you do it that way? !? ! So calling in a pie pick up order does you no good at all whatsoever. It's a crapshoot and anyone's guess as to whether they'll have thay pie when you arrive anyway. Wouldn't you just box the ordered pies and put a picking ticket on them to reserve them? They were not busy, at all. What kind of customer service is that?

This place was really bad. I was surprised. I went in with 4 family members. First it took them forever to bring drinks but we got past it. Then it took them forever to tell my mom they ran out of chicken noodle soup. Next they took forever to bring our food. The French fries were cold for 2 of my children. Then for my other child the French fries were hot so there was a difference. My mom ordered the adult grill cheese and asked that it be crispy, it wasn't. Then my order I asked for biscuits with gravy 2 eggs over medium with the yoke broken and american cheese with cubed potatoes add onion and bell pepper. The eggs were over cooked the potatoes were cold and the onion and bell peppers were scarce just sitting off to the side. I sent my eggs back meanwhile my biscuits with gravy are getting cold and it was nasty. I sent all the food back and didn't order anything. We got no silverware no waters no napkins and they ran out of ketchup bottles. These are the things that should come out first. This was the worst I wish I could give 0 stars. Also, people who came in after us got their food much faster. I'll never come back here again I should have stayed at first watch down the street!

Great place for breakfast. Crepes are delicious. So much food for reasonable price. Our waitress Shawna is as terrific. Very accommodating.
