Wooden Nickel Cabins reviews
16Awesome place to stay. Cleaner than the majority of hotels. Everything you need inside. Bring food and wood for the fire pit. Will definitely be coming again.
There are so many good things to say about Wooden Nickel Cabins (Cabin 4) not even sure where to start.
My husband wanted me to put in for him as husband likes:
Designated parking per cabin-asphalt parking lot
A/C and heating were great
Options for cooking indoors and outdoors
Immediate hot water
This is truly a home away from home, everything you need from dishes, glasses, coffee mugs, silverware, toaster, coffee pot (single use), wifi, super comfy bed. We ate all of our meals at the cabin and outside.
5 of the cabins back up directly to the Tonto National Forest with two access points to walk in and venture. In mid-September and during the rut you'll get to hear the elk bugling, what an awesome sound first thing in the morning:)
Blackout curtains on the bedroom window and the sliding glass door.
Cabin was super clean and so well designed and decorated, kudos to whomever decorated the cabin. Cabin is two story, main bed and bathroom downstairs, additional bed and bunk beds upstairs with small closet. There is even a pet/child gate at the bottom of the stairs that we used to keep our little dog from going upstairs.
There's a porch swing out front at all the cabins, was very nice in the evenings and mornings to sit out and enjoy the outdoors. There's a small picnic table in the back, Adirondack chairs, extra folding chairs in the closet if needed. Fire pit, propane grill (has propane can), small charcoal grill too.
In the living room is an adorable small gas fireplace (was too warm to use) but pilot is lit and ready to go.
Strategically placed notes around to let you know what the password is for the wifi, how to turn on the shower (you'll understand when you get to your cabin), how to turn on the heater.
There is a small game room, key is provided for you. Has 2 arcade games, one of them has 30 pages of games, a foosball game and a shuffleboard table, perfect for those with tweens and teens.
My tip would be to book your cabin directly through them as this may save you some money vs using a third-party site.
Their communication is top notch all the way through with emails and texts.
This is our first time staying with Wooden Nickel Cabins and can definitely say we WILL be back! We stayed for two nights and glad we did to really enjoy the cabin. This is a mom-and-pop small owner operation and is nice to help out locals.
We had such great quality family time here! Would highly recommend wooden nickel cabins as a getaway! Grilled, chilled, played games.so much fun! Nice clean cabins, pet friendly and awesome owners. Nicely run establishment will definitely be back!
These cabins are absolutely awesome! Me and my family of 6 enjoyed every minute of our stay! Being there in Hunter Creek you have about 5 lakes within 30-45min drive. Fossil Creek (which is a must see!) is also close by. The cabins have everything you need to have a nice family getaway up in the scenic mountains of the Tonto National Forest. Wooden Nickel Cabins is definitely our families new annual family vacation spot! A hidden gem in the mountains!
We wanted a couple nights out of the valley so we booked a cabin here. Definitely was so worth it! Super super kid friendly; has a game room and playground and the kids were able to move freely without worry. The cabins are very clean and comfortable. Even has gas grills on the back patio The grounds are beautiful and quiet. Only tip I would give is pack a lot of food! It is some distance from payson but they have full stocked kitchens so you can very easily cook! We will definitely be back!
Nice clean cabins, beautiful atmosphere, professional and attentive staff. Only regret is that the stay wasn’t longer. Highly recommend
Clean and comfy. Games for the kids and I to play. Rhe grill and back patio were great. The boys loved the game room.
We love the quiet of the pines. The cabin is cute and clean and promotes a relaxing atmosphere. It is a great place to get away.
Great cabins. Having air-conditioning is awesome. The backyard is great. Great location. Great owners and staff. I thought that I had left an important item behind after checkout, and when I called, they jumped on it immediately and began looking for it. Turns out that I had it the whole time. They took it in stride, and we’re very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
Had a lovely stay at the Wooden Nickel Cabins. Fun decorations, comfortable beds, large refrigerator, and the A/C worked well. We made chicken, burgers, and Some'Mores on the gas BBQ grill and caught some beautiful rainbow trout in nearby Hunters Creek. Highly recommend these quaint and cozy cabins.
The customer service is top notch, and the cabin was perfect. I would live there if I could! - Tom
My husband and I went for a getaway and were so happy with the experience. We actually stayed 1 extra day. Loved everything about our stay. We had a wonderful time, and are planning 2 more trips.
Such a cute cabin! Dog friendly, has everything you need, quiet and close to Christopher Creek. Game room too! We will definitely be back again!
Great little get-away, combined with a work trip. Very well managed operation, gorgeous cabins and nice amenities. Highly recommend getting away from the Phoenix smog and spending a few nights here.
I want to thank Wooden Nickel Cabins for the accomodation. I won a 2 night stay up north in Payson. The placed was a perfect fisherman setting for me. Nice breakaway from the city. Nice cozy spot with plenty of hiking and fishing spots. Definitely gonna rebook a trip back up sometime during late April May as the hatchery will restock the lakes and creeks. This is literally mins away from "Woods Canyon Lake" "Khols Ranch Creek" "Christopher creek" "Tonto Fish Hatchery" "Willow Creek" which are fully loaded with trout from spring through October. As I've fished those spot several times already. As for the cabin it's location was perfect. Their theme cabins are awesome. It's nice and clean, super comfy with cozy beds blankets and linens. We brought up food cooked breakfast went fishing came back to rest watch sports. They also have a grill in back. WiFi is available. I'm gonna have to return late spring and have a go at it again. Definitely recommended!
The cabin was very nice, clean and cozy. During the snow season, the surrounding area of the cabin was very beautiful and fun. Would definitely stay again and would also recommend!
