Zen Thai Cafe reviews
18I’ve been here before and the food was good bud sadly I won’t come back due to the horrible customer service I just received. I called just now and asked about happy hour, the guy who answered was rude and said only Monday-Friday. He forgot to hang up the phone before he said “people ask some of the stupidest things”. Make sure to hang up the phone next time before you start talking that way about customers!
Really good food! Fresh ingredients, prepared well. The wait staff were a bit too busy, but it wasn't a big deal.
Delicious food! We got sweet & sour chicken, chicken Pad Thai and yellow curry. All of it was wonderful.
Zen Thai Cafe offers an exceptional dining experience with its delightful ambiance and flavorful Thai cuisine. The friendly staff provides excellent service, ensuring a memorable visit. From aromatic curries to perfectly crafted stir-fries, each dish showcases the chef's expertise. The menu's diversity caters to various tastes, and the presentation is consistently impressive. Whether you're a Thai cuisine enthusiast or a first-timer, Zen Thai Cafe promises a culinary journey that satisfies both the palate and the soul. Highly recommended for those seeking an authentic and enjoyable Thai dining experience.
Came here before a concert at the van buren and will come here before every concert at the van buren. Food was absolutely delicious per the recommendation of our waitress. And reasonably priced. I live 30 min away but will find my way back.
Green curry was very good, the larb wasn’t bad at all, maybe just a little sweet but all around good food & vibes.
Laid back vibe. Excellent, prompt (but NOT rushed) service. Yellow curry tofu good, but a tad sweet. Worth another try, later.
Dined here twice while in town for a conference. First time was for lunch, and second time for dinner. The food was exceptional each time! However, the atmosphere differed greatly from lunch to dinner. Dinner was rather odd from an atmosphere point of view. Loud rap music was playing to the point that we asked one of the kids to please turn down the volume. The two main staff were late teen to mid 20s and that might have had something to do with it. They did turn the music down but rap music just doesn’t complement Thai food and decor. During lunch the previous day, the staff were mature and there was no music; just a peaceful atmosphere to enjoy one’s meal. I’ve seen before, that - often when the owner or manager is away - the younger employees will commandeer the music and play whatever THEY like with no regard to atmosphere or decor matters. However, I’ll reiterate again: the food was superb! Just don’t let the kids take charge of the music. Easy 5 stars other than that.
Everything was very mid. We were expecting the food to be great based on other reviews, but we were disappointed. Had decent flavor, but still lacking. We got spring rolls, crab Rangoon, drunken noodles, and red curry. Wouldn’t recommend to a friend.
We randomly found this gem! Love Thai food and spent a month in Thailand. My favorite dish (Khao Soi) is very hard to find in the US and they have it and it is phenomenal. We also had Tom ka and pad tai. It was all so good. We will only be eating Thai food from here going forward! Definitely recommend if you are downtown!
Great place to go to for lunch if you’re at a conference in the area. The food is so good and there is enough for the value. I highly recommend it. I had the green curry and it was excellent.
Came here for lunch with a couple of friends. We all ordered different dishes and enjoyed them all! I ordered the red curry and it was amazing! Servers were kind and the décor was really cool.
Food was not great, it was ok.fried rice was dry. Food was tasteless. Have had better Thai food.
Went for lunch during a conference. Very busy but the waitress was able to juggle it all. Had the lunch special drunken noodle which was quite good.
Nice place with good service where you can experience the worst Thai like food ever. I may be harsh because I am Asian and grew up with Asian cuisine, but personally, I wouldn't serve this food to others. The shrimp app is definitely pre frozen, the kind from a major bulk wholesale establishment. Enough said. Apologies if I offended anyone.
Quite tasty Thai food with a sauce slightly on the sweet side. The tea was perfect.
What stands out, however, is the service. The manager saw me struggling to hold my book up as I ate and he brought over a stand. Truly unique service in this modern world.
Ordered pepper steak and it was a bit on the salty side. The beef they used was skirt steak that was not even cut in smaller pieces. Pepper steak is usually served cut up in small pieces like 99% of asian restaurants. Maybe they have a different way of serving this dish. It was tough to cut and chewy. Overpriced. They did at least put plenty of veggies.
