24 Hour Fitness reviews
16 24 hour went bankrupt during the pandemic and have since been bought by PE firms (Sculptor Capital Investments LLC, Monarch Alternative Capital LP and Cyrus Capital Partners LP) that is clearly just letting it maximize profit and do zero improvements until they can flip it to another company. So it’s likely not the decision of local management or employees to provide a subpar experience.
For $25 a month, it’s an amazing value. If you just use the machines and weights and get some outdoor space it’s fine.
But the bathrooms are disgusting. The showers are disgusting. Not sure I would trust the pool, haven’t used yet. Water fountains are half broken.
Hopefully they improve soon! I messaged the CEO Karl Sanft on LinkedIn to see if there was any hope for a turnaround.
Meh. It's almost there. Poorly maintained and not enough strength equipment for the amount of people. There's too many bikes and ellipticals. I hardly see people use them and I've been here for almost a year now. They should reorganize the space and replace some with what's highly in demand, like another leg extension and curl machine and t-bar row.
Wouldn’t really recommend. Gym floor is dirty and disorganized. It is challenging to find equipment and not a pleasant workout experience.
The trainer was so rude and disrespectful in answering the questions; very unprofessional and not worth the money spent.
Sorry, I misspelled my wonderful trainer's name. It is Hasti, and with her you will look forward to every workout!
This gym has all the facilities I could want. I especially enjoy this place due to my trainer, Hasti. Hasti gives her all to make sure your workout is personalized and fitting to your body and goals. She strives not to guide the workout but to teach it and for her clients to understand what they’re doing and why. She also like to aid in structuring her clients diet and stretching. I am very happy with my experience here.
Ultra friendly staff always made me feel welcome! I ha Hasti as a personal trainer and she helped me drop serious body fat while increasing muscle mass! So kind and helpful
I've always enjoyed running and working out, but I needed accountability. Hazi, the great trainer, has done just that for me. She's improved my overall well-being, motivates and perfects my form. She is highly educated in nutrition and gives excellent advice on how to avoid aches and pains.
I feel happy and energized after our workout sessions. I highly recommend her!
Smaller than the 24 on balboa Ave. Other than that both 24s are equal in dirtyness so will have to stay neutral on this gym for now
This review is years past due.l. I have been a member at this gym for 30 years. I was excited when it got remodeled thinking that it would be nicer. The air circulation inside of the gym is disgusting. It is always hot and stuffy and smells terrible. When I have inquired over the years as to why the air conditioning doesn’t work better, they respond that the air conditioning is controlled by the company that is out of state. That there’s nothing they can do about it. The other locations in San Diego seem to have better control of the air-conditioning. In addition to the air quality, the facility is dirty.
Sadly, this location is the closest to my house but I do try to frequent other locations whenever possible.
The basketball courts are closed off 2 days a week for private coaches…during peak hours as well. These coaches are obviously getting paid too, but as a paying member, my membership dues are being cheated. This is a growing pain amongst many hoopers now — we absolutely resent these coaches who have struck deals with the gym in order to conduct their private coachings.
This place is gradually deteriorating with each passing day. The employees lack basic courtesy and fail to greet or bid farewell to clients upon their arrival or departure. It appears that numerous things are in a constant state of disrepair, and one can only wonder how this place hasn't shut down yet unless there are a handful of broken items. My suggestion would be to hire fewer people and prioritize fixing the issues that every staff member is already aware of. Unfortunately, the location is conveniently situated because otherwise, it would be a real disappointment.
Update 6/8/23
I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 4 because of the changes I have seen. Thank you for listening and being active about it
Great selection of equipment, great facility, well laid out. Pretty dirty and unkempt part due to other patrons, part due to mediocre care of the facility. All in all, it's still a great location.
I am surprised that a gym 24 hours is in a Filthy conditions.
I thought that this gym would be very clean because it is in a nice and rich neighborhood.
It is not clean at all!
A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT, UNPROFESSIONAL!
I just asked for my membership documents, it’s been over 1 week but never got that. The manager (Mario) is very uninterested and front desk workers are unfriendly and rude.
Very disappointed with the standards. I used to be a big fan of 24hr Fitness given how clean the gym was kept, the number of equipment they had, and the fact they had a spa & steam room. The gym has slowly deteriorated. The bathroom smells horrible, the equipment is very old and rarely cleaned by staff, I just see most of them are standing around. If you want to save your money, I recommend Chuze instead. The gym is well maintained, and the staff are so friendly/welcoming. 24hr Fitness charges way too much for low standards and some of them aren't even 24 hours.
