I can not say enough about how happy I was with Gary and his service. I was in San Diego for work, and needed a haircut and a shave. While he did not have a straight razor for a shave, he was able to give me an equally close shave with clippers and provided me with an excellent haircut as well. He does not take credit cards, however he was accommodating enough to allow me to mail him a check and I am truly appreciative for that, and for his responsiveness to my call. Thank you Gary!

This place is a hidden gem. As someone who lives in downtown San Diego, let me tell you that a men's haircut isn't always the cheapest. 3rd Avenue Barbershop is the kind of place that doesn't focus on flash, or bells and whistles to get you in it's door-it focuses on quality haircuts, at a reasonable price. If you're a guy looking for an old fashioned barbershop, this is the spot.

Awesome service, but you need to call in advance. The barber is a highly skilled gentleman. He is very accommodating. The place is old but clean, and the barber sanitizes everything he uses. Good pricing too!

Got the most skilled eye to detail done while having good conversation and I learned alot of facts and tricks that only a seasoned veteran barber can get only through years of experience, one chair, one cut, one focus, makes you feel one of a kind.

Got me in the same day I called and at the end of my cut he straight razored my line up with warm shaving cream and was real clean about everything.

The owner, Gary was great. I have been coming here a couple of times now and cuts you hair precisely the way you want. For $10.00 a cut for just a basic haircut, he has the lowest price in downtown. I highly recommend.

Old school barber with great prices. His shop is located on 3rd between J and island. Parking is easy. His shop has a homey feeling. The man is a skilled barber able to do just about any cut a customer wants. He is not up on today's lingo for the different cuts. I highly recommend this barber.
