54 Mint Ristorante Italiano reviews
18So bad. They will ask you to pay more money in different ways. Reservation fees, 25$ per person. If you bring a cake, cake fee 7$ person. What? And everyone is so mean. And the most important thing is that every thing tastes so terrible, very very very salty and not fresh. I don’t understand why we need reserve it one week ago. Because as I saw yesterday, the restaurant is almost empty. I will never go again.
I ordered grilled octopus as an entree, calcio y pepe as the main pasta plate and some gelato. The portions are not "american style" (i.e. Cheescake Factory) but good enough to fill you up.
The octopus was great, perfectly tender and good quantity but I didn't like they mixed it with the cold potatoes. In my opinion, the dish require all the ingredients being hot or, at least, room temperature.
The calcio y pepe dish, on the other side, was incredible. The pasta was al dente and the emulsion was just perfect. Perfect amount of black pepper as well. 10/10.
The gelato was creamy and yummy but I would say a very little portion for the price of the dessert.
Overall a great place, in a area where you can comfortably walk during the night and close to the main hotels in the area. I will definitely visit 54 Mint in my next trip to SFO.
This is a hidden gem. Tucked away in Mint Plaza. Consistently excellent food that is fresh and prepared with care. Service here is great with a friendly atmosphere. Been eating here for years for a great before theater meal. Steps from the Golden Gate theater and Westfield Shopping Centre.
Yesterday enjoyed a brunch at 54 Mint. An authentic Italian restaurant with great choices for breakfast, brunch and or lunch options. Service was delightful, had the opportunity to speak with staff in Italian!
I recommend the arancini for a starter, frittata and torta al limone. It is across from Hotel Zetta and convenient to dine pre show performance. I will return to try for lunch or dinner.
Nice restaurant, food ok, service basically good, BUT: 20% service fee as a matter of course. According to the prices on the menu, it would have been around $160, but more than $200 was required; well, once and never again.
This place sucks. The food isn’t seasoned well and is extremely salty. They also charged me for something they told me was free, then tried to gaslight and lie to me about it. Extremely overpriced for what the food tastes like.
Oxtail was great with a sizeable portion. The meat was tender, yet not crumbling in texture. Sauce was just acidic enough with a nice touch of pine nuts. Carbonara was better than most places too, though was a bit creamy.
Atmosphere was not overly loud and good for conversations
Fantastic place with very friendly staff. Food was simply amazing, traditionally Italian which means not many ingredients but everything of excellent quality. Would definitely return here if I ever visited San Francisco again.
This place is a gem. Tucked away. Great atmosphere. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Bloody Mary was delightful. Came for bday brunch and got the best tiramisu I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
Food was ok, my pasta came out lukewarm, my husband liked his steak. Service was really good though.
I dined here after attending the fluers de villes show next door at the Mint building and the food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing. There weren’t a lot of other diners there which was a shame. The passion fruit Bellini was amazing! I also really loved the beet salad and arancini.
We visited this restaurant on our first night in San Francisco because it had good reviews. The menu was attractive and the ambience. We were welcomed nicely and sat at a nice table. The problem was the server. He was very pushy, wanting us to order expensive cocktails and multiple courses. When we ordered what we wanted (we felt like a nice plate of pasta), he kept pushing and his attitude towards us changed. He seemed to brush us off, look at us disapprovingly and made the experience overall very uncomfortable. When the check came, we put put down a $100 bill because that's what we had, and he asked if we wanted change (expecting a $30 tip). We said we wanted change and he gave us another disapproving look. It took him 15 minutes to get us change as he decided to spend time chatting with other tables. It was the first time in my life I didn't leave any tips. I hope this was an exception but I will never eat there again.
Since we were a group of 10, we got Prix Fixe menu including dessert.
Amazing food with great quality and quantity, not a wine connoisseur but loved their red wine.
Would definitely come back again.
Highly recommended.
I recently discovered a new Italian restaurant that specializes in serving authentic and exquisite Italian cuisine. The overall dining experience was delightful, although I felt that some dishes were missing the perfect blend of herbs and spices. There was a noticeable reliance on salt throughout the menu, resulting in a somewhat repetitive flavor profile. The veal cooked in a special sauce leaned towards being too salty for my taste. The fried rice croquettes with cheese were a bit on the bland side and didn't quite meet my expectations. However, I must highlight the outstanding squid ink pasta with homemade tomato sauce, which was truly a culinary delight. Another noteworthy dish was the pasta with meticulously cooked small pieces of pork belly, perfectly balanced in terms of saltiness. The grilled lamb chops were a revelation, cooked to perfection and bursting with delectable flavors. The grilled trout was equally impressive, effortlessly flaking apart as soon as you lifted it. Accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes, the combination was simply divine. The restaurant offered an impressive selection of wines that paired wonderfully with the food. All things considered, I highly recommend visiting this establishment for an exceptional Italian dining experience, despite minor observations regarding seasoning and flavor.
Great Italian restaurant! I ate at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The bartender obviously cared about his craft. I had a cucumber juice based mocktail that was refreshing and delicious.
For my meal, I had some croquettes filled with molten smoked mozzarella that was delicious. And my gnocchi main with beef ragu was delicious. I wish I had room for dessert.
I would definitely recommend it.
Service and ambiance were great, but the food was mediocre. We got-
1. Saltimbocca
2. Carbonara
3. Gnnochi with beef Ragu
4. Polpo
5. Patate fingerling potatoes
Saltimbocca was a bit too salty. Veal was tender and juicy.
Gnnochi was dense and heavy. Beef ragu was watery and bland.
Carbonara had a chalky aftertaste.
Fingerling potatoes had no seasoning.
Polpo was okay.
They have indoor and outdoor seating area.
I don‘t even know where to start! The staff is just lovely, the food is mind blowing and the private dinner party I saw downstairs looked so cozy! Would definitely recommend this place - it was so good, I did not even take picutures! This place simply left me speechless!
We loved this restaurant. Stumbled across it but what a gem. Knowledgeable service, quality food. Unfortunately, the walk to the restaurant is a lil sketch given the current homeless situation in The City.
