I visited a women's place in the summer of 2023 to tour the facilities and learn more about Community Forward SF. The place was quiet/ peaceful and the staff were kind and nice to me and all the guests. I can't believe this is the only place of it's kind in San Francisco. We need more places like this for our unhoused women+.

When I came in they put me on a cold chair, I was not able to get rest for an entire WEEK! Plus, The shower doesn't work correctly, I turned on cold water but hot water came out, Once I saw one of the staff members pushing a poor elderly woman onto the ground. She looked around her 70s and she was just a poor helpless human, Just like the rest of us. I felt really bad for her but I was too scared to confront the staff because I thought they would push me too! I was abused way too much out there, I'd rather live in the sewers than stay at this place! Besides, the coffee tasted weird and smelt like it had been sitting out for two days. DO NOT GO TO A WOMAN'S PLACE! YOU WILL REALLY REGRET IT! I warned you.

Due to a combination of going through a series of traumatic events and pure exhaustion, I visited this shelter thinking I’d be able to get some kind of help… what a joke…

Being forced to sit on a cold chair all night after I hadn’t slept in two nights- in a cold room with no blanket… was strange… knowing this place was for women who had been through trauma… then when I gave my only warm clothing to a staff member named Kelly to wash- all my warm clothes were gone and she said she had been the only one with access to them. She looked me in the eye and lied to my face about protecting my only warm clothes. Someone had offered to buy the ladies in the shelter pizza - would have been the only warm meal most of us had in a while- NOPE - whoever is in charge of this shelter declared it was DANGEROUS for us to EAT DELIVERED PIZZA. Mentally ill are basically ignored and elderly just neglected and miserable … I was almost burned in the shower due to bad plumbing had to run to another shower with soap in my eyes screaming… would have been better off and less traumatized sleeping in a park, washing up in a bathroom…. They never offered any services or any kind of help other than two cold snacks a day and strange movies and tv shows that just weren’t great for the spirit… no books. No health education… truly tragic that this place received bad reviews years ago and literally nothing has changed. The homeless might as well be in jail! It’s easier. So thankful I only stayed one night- with my clothes stolen I had no choice but to leave and find help- feeling scared of the workers at this point wondering what’s next… I just can’t believe how badly these women are treated. I hope one day San Francisco can make real changes. The money and opportunity is there but all the wealthy in SF just don’t care- quite obviously - though homeless people are defocating all over the city and becoming more and more desperate every day. Keep it classy SF! Maybe you can just ignore it to death!
