My husband and I moved to Acacia Creek in August 2021 after a 7 month search for a community who would fulfill our strict requirements.

Moving from Monterey CA, we wanted to be close to family, a very active and intelligent group of independent living folks who could have fun together, and live in a comfortable.climate. We toured other places and they all seemed alike. We toured Acacia Creek, had lunch with some residents who spoke frankly about the community. We thought about it and returned to Acacia Creek with many questions. Some for Denise Bartorski, in Sales, and more for the residents. The answers were what we needed to hear. We returned, again, and made a deposit for a 2 bedroom apartment.

We moved in and it seemed like everyone who passed our open door on move-in day had kind and welcoming words of encouragement for the process of settling in. The next day, while still unpacking, our “Welcoming Couple”, Marty and Hillary, asked us to join them for dinner. People stopped by our table to introduce themselves and offer information. As we settled in, we met so many interesting and exciting people. A true stretch for our brains!

Probably the hardest part was finding new doctors in the area to provide care for our needs. But, again, our new friends made recommendations. We found caring doctors and specialists who are outstanding.

In the last 2 years, we have gone on interesting day trips. The Symphony, into SF for a Christmas choral program, and many other times shared with others. It was a joy to let Ed do the driving of the coach. We both have participated on community committees, and activities like playing cards, or serving as a bartender in the Turkey Roost. Acacia Creek provides the atmosphere for you to be as active and involved as you want.

This was the best move, and most appropriate move for us. It is a great place to live. And by moving here, we have made “ that decision “ and our children are happy we are closer and being well cared for.

I have been a resident of Acacia Creek for 12 years. Prior to moving here my husband and I resided in another CCRC. It was a "for profit" facility. When the economy tightened they cut costs by cutting services and menus. Here at Acacia Creek services have not been cut. Yes, we tighten our belts but not at the expense of the residents. That is the difference between "for profit" and "non profit". Be sure to check out those differences when searching for your future home. At Acacia Creek residents have a lot of input in programs and activities. Residents are encouraged to share their skills and talents. This is a fantastic facility with wonderful team members and residents. You need look no further. Sally Ward

Why I stayed at Acacia Creek
By Carole Silva, PhD

At first, it took a while for me to undo my boxes and set up my apartment the way I like. I first noticed the nice balcony where I could put my plants. Everything was so clean and each Monday the housekeepers would come in, change my sheets, dust and vacuum. I was surprised then, on a Monday holiday, the housekeepers still maintain their regular Monday schedule.
The next thing I noticed was how fast a team (Mina & Carolee) was at my side when I had a miss-hap. It was in less that 2 minutes the two folks were applying pressure to stop bleeding and applying ice. A call went to 911, I was checked out, and was back the next day plus healed in a month because of their quick action.
I have visited all four buildings on this campus, each for a different level of care from totally independent (Acacia Creek) to totally dependent and memory care. The different levels of care are what make this campus different from other senior centers that I have visited in Northern and Southern California and in another state. I would definitely recommend this place over the others I have visited.
Combine all the reasons listed above, and it is the one, big reason why I would not let my family take me away from this place. I have been here for 5 years. I love just being friends with my family and not a burden. We have much happier visits, so I can continue my socialization with these happy, caring residents here at Acacia Creek!

It's been 2 months since my husband and I moved into Acacia Creek. After questioning whether it was too soon to consider downsizing to the apartment lifestyle in a continuing care retirement community, I have to admit we're really enjoying it! The staff here made the move as painless as possible. Denise, the move-in coordinator, scheduled a guest suite for us during the move-in process as well as 8 hours of move-in assistance. The day after we moved in, the team from IT hooked us up to internet & Direct TV and Kevin & Jan helped us hang TVs and artwork. Equally important, current residents made an effort to call and invite us to join them in the dining room for dinner. Our neighbor Betty took us on a walking tour of the campus. Within a month we had met over 30 friendly residents who encouraged us to get involved in the many activities available here. We've never felt more engaged.

I had the privilege of giving a presentation to prospects and residents at Acacia Creek Retirement Community. I visit many retirement communities to talk about Solo Aging and how Solo Agers can be supported in retirement communities, and my visit to Acacia Creek was exceptional! When I arrived I encountered a cadre of vibrant, vivacious residents, poised to help with the setup for the presentation and to help welcome me and get me settled in for the night I would spend there after my talk. Everyone I encountered was positive about their experience living there. In the dining room, I saw heavily engaged groups of people dining together and having fun chatting with one another.
I learned that the overall philosophy at Acacia Creek is that the residents should be there arbiters and decision makers of much of what goes on at the community. I saw evidence of resident councils, actively taking part in the life of the community. They even have a full-time position of "Successful Aging Coach. " She works with all interested residents to find out what would make retirement successful for them and helps them get there - physically, mentally, and emotionally. This is surely one of the most proactive, forward-thinking communities I have encountered in my work.

My first visit to Acacia Creek was very helpful and informative. Denise spent over an hour giving me a tour and answering my questions. I was impressed with the facility overall and even more impressed with how residents are encouraged to help develop and lead the many programs offered. On my second visit I met a very active resident who was made me feel welcome and answered more questions. With these two positive experiences, I requested to be put on the waiting list to be notified when an apartment becomes available. Getting on the waiting list also permits you to sample classes and other activities at Acacia Creek.

I have often visited friends that have moved up to Acacia Creek. I found the staff to always be very helpful and the environment safe and clean. The residents are very happy and enthusiastic about their lifestyle.

Now I am approaching the time for me to move out of my house. I have looked at a number of different senior communities. Acacia Creek is easily the best choice I have found. I happily look forward to making Acacia Creek my final move.

My Mother is a long-time resident of Acacia Creek.

It has helped her create a retirement she loves.

The building, the staff, amenities, and activities are designed to help residents live lives that are engaging and rewarding.

Resident opinion and input matters. Venues are fresh and change frequently. Staff is communicative, supportive and caring. It's not uncommon for senior staff to pitch in and help with a simple problem or even pick up a broom. Fitness and wellness programs, on-site nursing, social gatherings, entertainment, guest speakers, tech support, local transport, meal plans—all part of the package.

Acacia Creek is centrally located in the San Francisco Bay Area, close to three international airports plus BART, Amtrak, and Capitol Corridor rail stations. Many of Northern California's greatest attractions—Napa and Sonoma Valley, Monterey Bay, Carmel, Marin County—are easy day-trips by car and Acacia Creek bus.

See for yourself. Give Acacia Creek a call.

Acacia Creek review
Over the years, my spouse and I have checked out numerous retirement facilities for various relatives and friends. Now our time is approaching and the choice is easy (fortunately, we agree on which). Acacia Creek has everything on our checklist: friendly active residents, roomy units with full size washer and dryer in unit, spectacularly beautiful grounds and views, fun activities and classes to encourage physical and social health, regularly scheduled outings for shopping and entertainment, a car and driver available for non-drivers, welcoming staff that encourages resident’s suggestions, great food (as a guest, my spouse personally enjoyed the house baked cookies at the daily coffee klatch and a delicious Oktoberfest meal accompanied by live music), a flexible financial arrangement, add-on services to let us stay in our unit if our health or mobility decreases. Since our first visit, we’ve begun clearing out the tons of stuff filling our house to be able to move as soon as we decide we’re ready for a pampered life.

Acacia Creek is a jewel of a community! Everything from the grounds, the staff and the food are amazingly high class. Situated in the East Bay Hills, Acacia Creek is near modern life while tucked away to give the impression of beautiful resort living at it's finest. Clean, well- manicured grounds give way to a host of programs and activities for the residents. Did I mention the food? *Chef's kiss* I would recommend Acacia Creek to any senior who needs to downsize, but doesn't want to lose the personal amenities. Acacia Creek has it all, and then some.

What an amazing campus! This far exceeded my expectations. This is very fine living at its best and customized to seniors who want to age successfully. Check it out before committing anywhere else.

I live at Acacia Creek. The best thing about it is the people. Everyone is very friendly. It is like a college dorm. The apartments are spacious. Best deal for your money available in the Bay Area.
