Akita Japanese Restaurant reviews
14I was aware of the time and I want to order to go, but the way in which they received us was terrible, their comments and faces. I would try their food for the first time and I really don't want to return
Excellent food and service. I had sushi from the fresh catch list, and everything was so fresh and delicious. Really authentic too- fish also comes from Japan. Loved the wait staff and the owner/sushi chef. Highly highly recommend!
Amazing, delicious food and one of the best servers I've ever met. Extremely attentive and mindful of allergies.
If I could give this a 0 I would, the young Hispanic lady would not stop yelling at me when I went to pick up my food for my wife when I let them know what was wrong with our order she made a scene about it when they could have easily replaced My order at no cost or pay the difference she yanked my food I asked for a manager and she continued arguing with me. This was handled poorly that i was so upset I left and let my wife know what was going on she had to go back and get our 30 min old food they didnt even offer any options to remake it or a refund, I had to eat something I did not want and the food had been sitting for a while. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE PREVIOUS MANAGMENT WAS BETTER. DO NOT COME HERE SAVE YOURSELF THE TRIP
I just found this little gem. They are probably the only one that sells fresh catch fish from japan in Escondido! Live amaebi, mirugai and some other fish i never heard before. And the owner john also my sushi chef was very knowledge and proud of his product. Cant want to come back
I've been in this place twice!
First time food tasted moldy
Second time overpaid for really bad seafood soup. One shrimp over microwaved till it was like a rock! Never again. I have no idea how this place got a top rating unless people around here have zero palet! I tried.
Solo road trip home and searched for sushi. Decided to go for Akita and had a very wonderful experience. Sampled two fresh catch nigiri and asked for shisho leaf - the fish was so fresh and cut perfectly, size texture and temperature. Then a tuna cartel roll - I didn’t ask for shiso but the chef knew I liked it already so added some.
Had a lovely conversation with the sushi chef and the owner. Very good experience - I’d be back!
This had a tiny tiny piece of fish in the sushi and their was a bone in it. The sushi also tasted like a low maid quality one that are make at buffets that serve all you can eat.
Staff is so friendly, been coming here for years and food is always consistent and fresh. Love that it’s no fuss, just feels like I’m eating at home because everyone is so friendly and it’s so chill
Not bad, a real Japanese vibe going on. I hadn't found a good sushi place like this in a while since being stationed in Japan. The rolls were excellent, I had the caterpillar roll and escondido roll will be coming back for sure.
This little spot in deep escondido is really a hidden gem. The chefs at the bar are very nice and quick. The fish the evening we went was a little chewy. The staff was all very friendly. We had a lovely time overall.
Been going for sometime, before and after ownership change. Food is very good and staff friendly and accommodating. Decor could use some updating.
WOW! Love Akita. We had moved to Escondido recently and went to it twice before the new owner came in. We had gone back during the soft opening and have been loving it ever since. Not only is the sushi quite fresh, but the meals taste as close to authentic Japanese as I used to have in San Francisco and even my memories as a child in Japan. The yakisoba and sukiyaki tastes the way it should. They have great agedashi tofu. Super impressed by this place. I used to travel to downtown San Diego to get this quality and now I’m able to drive less than 10 minutes to a strip mall in Escondido for truly wonderful Japanese food. And the staff are all super sweet too! They have customers for life if they keep preparing awesome food like this!
Amazing! Went here for the first time fish is absolute quality and for only having 2 servers and a full house, they were ON TOP OF IT! Fast service very attentive & nice oh and I loved the Justin Timberlake /Nelly furtado playlist this day loved everything Abt this place not bad prices either! There's a lotta rolls u can get under 10 bucks! So good. My only criticism is for the nigiri rolls (in pics) they hide wasabi under the fish and I do not like wasabi at all but I understand it's traditional, next time I'll ask for it w no wasabi but that's the best yellowtail I ever had!
