"Excellent Pakistan/Indian Food and Great Service"

I'm a local and have been going to the Al-Watan for a year.
I have been to Al-Watan many times for dinner. It's a family-owned restaurant, with friendly service and homestyle cooking, Their Dinner/Lunch Special are quite popular but they offer only on weekdays, but In my opinion, they really excel at Lamb Qorma and Biryani. All foods are always perfectly cooked with mild to normal spicy. Not stop here!
Save room for the Kheer and Gulab Jaman dessert which is also the best Here. I promise you won't be disappointed with either this choice!

I visited this restaurant along with my four friends, ordered mix platter, goat nahari, magaz and goat biryani. Very disappointing experience they gave us some curry with rice and called it biryani. Average taste for the other items.
P.s: If you don't keep biryani then please don't serve something else and call it biryani.

Had biryani and chicken Tikka masala and both tasted of too much lemon. I was surprised that a place with such good reviews would have such terrible tasting food. Maybe the chef was having a bad day.

We didn't eat much of the biryani, so the waiter there offered our food to another table to-go. Wth

We visited Al watan with family v recently & ordered Chicken Tandoori. What a disappointment we got! Almost raw chicken, not marinated, they just give it color n slightly cooked n keep in fridge. Once order comes, they saute the onion, warm the Raw chicken n ready to serve. Horrible. Plus the serving quantity of Nihari, any curry or Kadaahi is v little. Not at all recommended. And they do not know how to make Biryani. Hard, yellow color rice with a spoon of chicken curry spread over. Biryani is Ready to serve. Ridiculous.

OMG! This is a gemstone on Inglewood Ave in Hawthorne. We were in town for the Rolling Stones concert and saw their Pakistan-Indian cuisine sign. So glad we stopped for lunch. We were blown away by their flavors. A must try for any traveler. Enjoy

1st think new teen age kid was too rude with desi ppl. He just give respect American ppl and very rude with their community ppl. We are here to give you business but YOU. Their elder should tech him to respect all customers.

2nd their Biryani taste is changing day by day. Sometime too delicious and sometime just okay mean no consistent taste.

Don't know the hype. In short quite overrated restaurant.

To begin with there is a deception/trick involved in this business. They offer salad plate while you wait, not knowing they will charge it in the bill later. While salad is free in most of the restaurants, if they want to charge it, they should let the customer know. The business should be transparent.

Coming to the food part. Chicken tikka masala and the beef kabab plate was good (reason- kabab and tikka has to be made fresh on order). The nehari was below average. The nehari meat was hard/old and needed good chewing.
I wanted to take out biryani and so asked their recommendation. The reply was typical desi style "everything is good and popular". I took chicken and lamb biryani. The chicken biryani was ok, but the lamb biryani had hard meat pieces. Nothing great about their biryanis.
Unless i have tried and tested the restaurant myself, the reviews/ratings can be deceptive.

PAKISTAN
Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles:
Those to-go orders seem to be full of lunch and dinner specials that the restaurant has been providing for many years. The dinner special ($12) has a seekh kabob and drumstick of tandoori chicken over rice and adds both a lamb and chicken korma, lentils, naan, and yogurt sauce. There is no part of this plate that is weak.

You must try the lamb pallaou. Out of this world. They only serve on Fridays so make sure you try this dish you will not regret.

Their mixed tandoori is amazing, so much amazing food, big enough to share with 3-4 people, spices to perfection. The staff is very nice and patient, love giving you suggestions if it is your first time.

There is probably no other restaurants in Southern California that reminds me of Pakistan more than Al-Watan (the namesake is on point). Any dish you get is done right: no unnecessary spices to sensationalize, nor excessive quantities to placate the masses. I would recommend everything on the menu, but regardless of what you chose, make sure you leave enough room for the naan-its the best.

First time I ordered from here I selected 6 different entries for the family.

Admittedly I might have gone a little overboard ordering so much food for a family of 4, but I figured based on the reviews I read, that we would likely enjoy it all with plenty of leftovers for later. And I was right.

The food is seasoned to perfection without having to rely on spicing things up to a point where our taste buds lose all sensation. It speaks volumes when the chef's food is done to taste delicate, tasty, and fresh that the culinary joy is instantly recognizable by everyone eating it. Bravo!

We will be ordering more takeout or stop by to dine in in the near future.

Has tasty food, and quite spicy. Seems like some place you would also find in Pakistan. Legit. Fresh bread served by the table. If it doesn’t come hot, please demand it that way. Yogurt juice was tasty.

Tastes like food in Pakistan. We had Nihari, lamb pulao, qeema naan and garlic naan. Everything was great - not too oily and spicy as well.
