Alan Smith Pools did a complete re-plaster/resurface of our large in ground spa, complete with pebble finish, new light, and all new drain and jet replacements. The old concrete benches were repaired to proper heights. From the start to the finish we have nothing but compliments to give to all the Alan Smith personnel assigned to our job! First, kudos to "CJ", our project manager. He was available at all times and was at our home many times during the project, making adjustments as necessary, keeping us informed all the way. This was not a large pool project, but we were treated with service, consideration of our needs and with true professionalism all the way, just as if we had the biggest project in town. The finished product exceeded our expectations.
The various specialty crews were customer oriented and cleaned up the work area at the end every work day.
Based on our experience, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Alan Smith Pool Plastering and Remodeling Team.

This company was redoing the pool next door and they sandblasted next door for 5 hours. It was excruciating. When I called to complain they were rude as hell.

Allen Smith Pools and in particular, Darren Laue who managed the initial pool water balancing, are exceptional. Professional, knowledgeable, caring, reliable. I highly recommend their services.

There isn't anyone more knowledge about plaster and pool construction then Alan Smith. He is setting a precedence for what superior construction is considered in the pool industry of CA. Alan is changing the way pool construction is done and what is excepted for excellence around the world one pool at a time. The work that Alan Smith has done over the last 3 decades will forever change the way pool plastering is done and the effects of water chemistry on the shell. In our present times every cent counts so make sure you're investing it with the best. For superiority and integrity among the vast ocean of builders out there, the only choice worth making is Alan Smith Pools of CA.

Alan Smith Pool Plastering & Remodeling is an outstanding company to do business with. We had our pool remodeled and couldn't be happier with the result. From the beginning planning and design process, to the finished remodel, our experience with Alan Smith Pools was unmatched. We were kept in the loop every step of the way. The crews on every phase were always respectable and kept the project clean. As a family we spend a lot of time together in our backyard and pool. Choosing Alan Smith Pools to remodel our pool has been one of the best investments we have made. Their customer service is top of the line and they did a phenomenal job. We highly recommend this company to anyone looking to remodel their current pool, or build a pool. Thank you Alan Smith Pools!

Alan Smith is the best. Incredibly professional, courteous and amazing quality. I wouldn’t use anyone else for our pool repairs.

Did an excellent job repairing cracking in our in-ground hot tub. Crews did a good job of cleaning up after each phase, and project was completed on budget and on time as promised.

We were very pleased with the work performed on our pool. They made it look like new. They showed up when they said they would and were professional. They were very neat and cleaned up everything. I didn't have to clean anything. We would use them again.

I was very pleased with my experience with Alan Smith Pools. They were clean and professional; very responsive to every question or concern. They had a clear timeline, who was going to be on site at what time and who was the contact person, clear line item costs and follow up for any concerns after the project. I had a problem where a hose bib was damaged at the end of the project when refilling the pool. Things happen. I mentioned it and they completely fixed it very promptly with no further issues. They are not the cheapest, but licensed/bonded/reliable/honest isn’t cheap. Money well spent!

Rarely am I moved enough to write a review about my personal experience with a company…. This is the exception and for compelling reasons.
Over eight years ago, my husband and I hired Allen Smith Pools to resurface our pool and spa, install new water line and other tiles and additional miscellaneous work to completely rehab our then 18 year old pool. Their finish is warranted for 10 years.
Recently, our spa developed a rather significant leak which was determined to be coming through a crack in the pebble aggregate finish installed 8 years ago. ASPs came out and epoxy patched the leak which successfully ended the water loss but was cosmetically unacceptable and which did not determine the cause of the crack. This past week, large crews, trucks, equipment and materials showed up at our home for many successive days and nearly the entire spa was demolished and rebuilt, including rebar tied in, plumbing fixed, new pebble finish (perfect match to 8 year old pool). During that process, it was determined that the crack was caused by sub-standard ORIGINAL construction practices. DESPITE THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK BEING DUE TO ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCIES, 18 YEARS before ASPs stepped foot on our property and by a different contractor, ASPs stood behind their warranty and fixed EVERYTHING, including, at no cost to us, replacing upwards of 30 tiles which were cracked and which had nothing to do with the spa finish crack. Rick Specht and Dario and Darren all worked together to solve this problem and ensure the warranty was honored.
How often in today’s world of “bottom line” business does a company just do the right thing and then go above and beyond to boot?
If any homeowner needs ANY pool or spa work done, cash a winning ticket and contact Alan Smith Pools. I’m still pinching myself.

Are homeowners association contracted with Allen Smith pools for the upgrade of our spa in pool number one / 3 months ago. I have been unable to talk to anybody about the progress progress or rather delay of getting this work done. Through our management company we have asked 3 times. To have someone call. No one has called as yet.

The work and overall experience were excellent! The guys were on time, reliable, polite, and easy to have around. The spa still looks terrific a year later. Thank you!

The job was supposed to start in Jan and now it is June and they are still not done. They are very slow in responding when jobs will resume. I will update when work is done in the quality but so far their response time is unacceptable.

I agree with other reviewers. They want the sale. That’s it. This company was recommended to me by my pool maintenance guy. Now both myself and him would never recommend them again.

Work quality was okay.

Took forever. No prep for demo and destroyed my backyard. Had massive amounts of debris where my pool cover rolls up clogging the drain and causing other issues.

Both myself and pool maintenance company have reached out to them for support because since the refinish the pool pH is out of control high. I even installed a $2k monitoring system that is dumping acid in the pool to try to get under control. Alan smith should be here to help diagnose and fix. NOTHING! I have reached out them multiple times to include my pool guy—nothing.

They want the sale. Want to get paid and do nothing more.

Was happy to prevent our neighbors from using them. My pool guy has many clients—will never recommend this company. Wish I had used someone else.

These guys really just want to sale jobs. Last response to a review the company said that they do over 700 pools a year! That’s a lot of pools! They do not communicate. When they do they lie or they just don’t communicate with each other so no one knows what’s actually going on. Our job started in January and after one disappointment after another they finally asked us if we wanted to cancel our contract. They didn’t want to make their mess right. Customer service down the drain. They blame it on the labor shortage but yet they keep selling jobs!?

They were professional, they called to schedule the appointment, when they sent me the quote and approximately when the parts will be installed. They have great customer service. They are my new to call for help. You won’t be disappointed, give them a call and see for yourself.

We hired Alan Smith Pools to redo our pool and pool deck in 2018. We used pavers for the deck material. 3 years later (within the 5year warranty period) we noticed OUR COPING DISINTEGRATING. This is occurring in random areas around the deck and not in any pattern or high traffic/splash areas (such as steps). It’s obviously poor quality materials. In addition our pavers are showing signs of degradation. We contacted Alan Smith Pools in August 2021. They sent someone out who agreed it was a problem. We then never heard anything else again. We contacted many times. Finally months later they said they would replace the most degraded coping pieces. Not acceptable to me. I want all of them replaced. 80% of them show some signs of degradation.

Their COO Scott Raze came out and tried to blame our pool chemistry. We have a respected and professional pool man and he kept records which Caused Scott to have to find another cause. So next it was the domestic water. They tested that and it was fine. Then it was a drainage issue from 5 foot grassy knoll next to the pool deck that existed prior to the remodel…. Ludicrous. Finally, they said they’d meet with us with their material suppliers. That meeting hasn’t happened nor will they respond to us about it. Bottom line they are trying to do anything and find any excuse to not fix this issue.

Now they won’t return calls or emails. They are the worst pool company you can pick. Attached are some photos. If you want to spend your money on masonry products that need to be replaced every 3 years then use Alan Smith Pools. If you want unprofessional people that won’t honor their warranties or stand behind their products snd installation, then use Alan Smith Pools.

Calling Alan Smith Pools for re-plastering was the best thing we have ever done. This company is very professional. From the very start, they made the entire process very clear and performed exactly as they promised in a timely manner. But it's more than that. What makes them stand out is the awesome quality of work. Each step, from demolition, to tile, to re-plastering, was done quickly, cleanly, no mess, no worries. We had the marble mix in the white plaster and it's awesome. The finished tile work and plaster job are works of art and a pleasure to feel. It makes our pool look and feel better than it was originally.
