Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards reviews
16The perfect place for a friday afternoon day date. This place is so sophisticated and cute! The Encantada pinot noir and the Syrah were amazing! Devyn took great care of us, she was very knowledgeable and personable. We can’t wait to come back!
Alma Rosa shares a courtyard with three other wineries. The specialty here is Pinot Noir.the tasting we had included three, the other wines being a couple of white wines (including a Chardonnay) and finishing with a Syrah. Normally there are five wines in the tasting if I'm correct but the wine server offered us an off list Pinot that was already open. It is subjective of course, but we found the Chardonnay completely forgettable and were not impressed with the Pinot Noirs.
The atmosphere is open: there is plenty of seating both outside and inside. The service is hit and miss.we had an earlier experience where we were going to have a tasting and left before it began owing to poor service from the young lady. A negative is the music tends to be usually played a little loud.
Alma Rosa has a good reputation, that said we weren't impressed with their wines. And their prices are notably higher than other wineries. Again, it's subjective.
The wine was lovely. The division of service between the main woman and what seemed to be the sommelier (gentleman, older with glasses) was lop sided. The woman seemed knowledgeable, but had less hospitality. The woman was clearly busy with greeting, answering the phone, etc.and we’re left with empty glasses in between for too long. It felt as though we were more of an after thought with other groups receiving more attention and conversation and quicker pours. From a hospitality industry background we were left feeling as though the service could have been better coordinated. We we’re wanting to buy a few bottles but felt it didn’t match up.
Absolutely fabulous wines. Everything on the tasting menu was wonderful. Can't wait to return.
We booked the tasting room for our wedding welcome party, and we’re so happy we did! Incredible staff, incredible wine, and a great tasting room! Can’t wait to visit again!
Wines were ok. Service was also ok. Though our wine rep did know a decent amount about the wines and the region. Just too commercialized for my taste.
We have been to the tasting room in Solvang several times and held our Welcome Party there the night before our wedding. It was absolutely perfect. The space was great for our large group and everyone loved the fire pits. We were able to bring in our own food. The staff was amazing and super helpful leading up the event as well. Cannot recommend it more.
Beautiful new tasting room in the heart of Solvang. We went in for a tasting on Friday evening. Our wine guide was knowledgeable about the wine and the history of Alma Rosa. We were delighted to have an opportunity to speak with the founder of Alma Rosa, Richard Sanford and his wife Thekla, as they were in the tasting room.
Overall, it was an excellent experience with a personable wine guide, exceptional wine and a beautiful new tasting room. We left with more wine than we originally planned to purchase. Can’t wait to visit again.
This tasting room shares an adorable courtyard with a few other wineries. I enjoyed the wine, I just thought the prices were high. My favorite was the Chardonnay. I found some of the same wines at a nearby store for nearly half the price.
What if a sip of wine could immediately free you from your surroundings? When the taste of Alma Rosa's Vin Gris hit my tongue, I was transported to the landscape of the Santa Rita hills. The Pinot Noir vintages produced in this region of cool ocean breezes and undulating hillsides have evolved a characteristic flavor that is inherently unique. The offerings at Alma Rosa accomplish exactly what the founder, vintner pioneer Richard Sanford, set out to do: embody the terroir of this AVA.
The meaning and intent of Alma Rosa rings clear and true. As our hostess, Rebekah, told us: the expressions of each varietal were an embodiment of the soul of the wine. She guided us through a custom-designed flight that included everything from sparkling Blanc de Blancs to honey-hued rose to estate-grown reds. It was a lesson in restraint, as every new bottle promised a different connection with the earth in its balance of textures and tastes.
Solvang has no shortage of stylishly decorated enclaves with bright, extroverted artwork and unrivaled natural light. Alma Rosa is no exception in its mix of modern floor-to-ceiling glass and traditional wooden tables. Beyond appearances, Alma Rosa goes one step further by carrying the vibe of new and old in its wines. Sanford's lauded finesse is present, as is the delicate touch of the current female winemaker. The aligned end vision will leave you wide awake-while dreaming of possibilities for the future.
Such an incredible visit! Wonderful wine and beautiful ambiance. Pam, who served our wines, was a delight and made the whole experience so special. Will absolutely be coming back!
Completely lovely experience! Rebecca was perfection as our tasting hostess-knowledgeable, personable and professional! She absolutely made the visit one of our favorites!
Absolutely incredible portfolio of wines in a delightfully elevated space. Alma Rosa came highly recommended from locals and we could see why immediately.
Thank you again for the seamless experience and incredible wealth of knowledge, Ethan!
Alma Rosa's tasting room experience with Alex was absolutely top notch in every way! The indoor/outdoor space is lovely - cheerful, bright and comfortable. Our tasting started with a warm welcome and progressed to a friendly conversation and in-depth education about their high-quality wines. We learned a great deal about each of the wines we leisurely tasted and we enjoyed every one. The Pinot Noirs are especially good - which shouldn't be a surprise given the winery was founded by Richard Sanford himself (!). Definitely try their Barrel Select.it's amazing!
Fantastic tasting experience at the vineyard! We went up on a Friday afternoon and had the place to ourselves, well truthfully it was us plus a flock of wild turkeys roaming the hills a mere 50ft away. Our host, Ethan, was very knowledgeable and great to talk to. It was so serene sitting out under the majestic oak trees tasting some delicious wines with the generous cheese platter. Truly probably the best wine tasting experience my wife and I have ever had. I cannot recommend it enough.
Great tasting wines. Nice setting and ambiance for tasting. Purchased a gourmet cheese and cracker plate to go with the tasting. Definitely worth it. Great service too.
