Wonderful river cruise! I did the 7 day eastern gems trip and it was beautiful and relaxing with excellent cuisine. The staff are amazingly friendly and extremely helpful. The boat was well equipped, the rooms were beautifully decorated, and the upper deck had a cooling pool and comfortable deck chairs.

I am not sure how this cruise line has the positive reviews it has unless the people reviewing have never traveled before. There is NOTHING luxurious about this cruise line. We traveled on the Ama Serena from Basel Switzerland to Amsterdam for a 7 night cruise stopping in a few really dreadful places. This ship and everything about it needs a serious refresh! The worst part about this experience is that we paid for a suite and paid an exorbitant amount of money for basically a floating Holiday Inn. The food was mediocre at best, horrible/NO entertainment, the worst wine I have ever had, could not even pay for a decent glass of wine and if you didn't eat during breakfast, lunch or dinner, there was no food and you had to pay for terrible drinks! The staff was nice and tried their best, but I could not get off this boat fast enough. Thankfully we had stays in 5 star hotels in Zurich and Amsterdam on either end of this cruise so it balanced out the incredibly lame cruise experience. Shame on Ama Waterways for touting this as anything luxurious!
