Amber India Restaurant reviews
17I've had better Indian food for much less. The bill came out to be $80/person with 1 drink/person. The meats were dry and the curry was bland.
Traditional, tasty Indian food. Amongst Indian restaurants, they maintain food quality, standards- have hormone free, sustainable meat, fish options (a la carte is better IMO). Love their saag paneer, samosas, biryanis. Everything I tried in the menu has been consistently good. Hope they continue maintaining standards.
We came here because it was close to our hotel. Lovely atmosphere. Samosa chaat was amazing. Highly recommended. We ordered the biryani to share but it was underwhelming. We should’ve clarified with our server to make it spicy so it’s probably on us. Great desserts as well.
Food was good definitely not amazing. For the amount of snobbiness you would think it would be out of this world. We were in the back of the restaurant with plenty of space. They wouldn’t let us bring a kids stroller to our table which would have made the baby calmer because it somehow makes the restaurant look bad. We’ve been to fancier places and been allowed strollers. This place treats a baby like an animal and rather have them scream than allow the stroller which would have made for a calmer baby and better experience for us and the guests on other tables around us.
Excellent food and service. We will come back. Very clean restaurant and friendly service.
Overpriced and poor value.
Tandoori chicken was dry and insufficiently spiced. Kadai Paneer was sweet.
We were billed for an entree that we didn't order. It was later corrected. Not what you expect at this price point.
Service is the only good (good not great!) thing about this place, food is below average for price they charge. Santa Clara/Milpitas area has much better places where one can get authentic Indian (tasty) food.
I Ordered the biryani. It tasted like pulao and nowhere near the biryani flavor. But the presentation was super fancy, what’s the point? Also had the kadhi paneer which was decent. Service was good. Very overpriced and not enough quantity for the price
Fantastic service and delicious food. Strollers are not allowed inside the restaurant but when we told them we will need a booth due to special needs they dint ask any questions and accommodated our request with a smile. It was a busy Sunday dinner time and the service was slightly slow but the food was excellent. The raspberry mocktail, the medallion starter and veg biryani was our favorite.
Super expensive and not worth the money.
The food was decent and the service was good.
But the portion size is not proportional to the size of the plate.
We got the tandoori chicken which was average and the fish starter which was decent
Ended with some lamb with roti which were decent as well.
But nothing extraordinary!
Not worth the price for sure even though I understand it is in the heart of sfo downtown which comes with a premium!
Amber India offers great food, but their service has gone downhill. We visited yesterday, and were enjoying our butter chicken and conversation when three waiters came in quick succession to ask if we were done and they could clean up the plates. We had only been there for 1h20m at the time.
Moreover, when we did say we were finished, two waiters came over and one of them started teaching the other how to pick up the plates, all while towering over our table.
Imagine that you also have to pay premium for this, ahem, ambiance and service.
We went for a buffet on Sunday. We were really disappointed with the food. Super pricey- $45/person. No flavor, The food tasted as if it was made several days ago. Never going to this place again.
Great food, just knocking a star off for the prices. Roughly 30 dollars for a bowl of curry that was the same quality I've had at a range of other places at various other lower prices.
Given the volume of people going there and the revenue they're making they should be reducing it to nearer 20. Also. 7ish dollars for boiled/steamed rice that's made in bulk? Should be closer to 3 or 4.
I may gripe about the prices but as I say the food was nice and the restaurant and service also good.
Only other thing I'd want there is better facilities for kids. There's many kids going there but no changing station and little space to put strollers as they're not allowed in the dining area. Ours was congesting the entrance with a few other strollers.
We all loved the food. The service was amazing. We had a chef come to our table (chef Hitesh) and make us authentic food just how we wanted it. Definitely worth a visit.:)
Avoid this place it’s has menu of Indian food but not the taste at-least the vegetarian food I don’t know about non vegetarian. Worst buffet ever the food doesn’t taste good especially the price $45 taxes inclusive not worth at all. I can’t believe how it has good rating on internet. Just the dessert gulab jamun is good among all.
Food was excellent but service was bad. Server took forever to show up to take our order. However once the order was placed, the food came out fast and hot
Very unprofessional, not expected from a fine dining place…we called them to make reservations and they said it’s not necessary and when we reach there they ask for a reservation and we had to deal with an outright rude manager. Our entire dinner experience ruined by a manager with an attitude…and to add the food was sub par for the price.
