Edit: The owner reached out to us after reading my review below. It took a 2 star review to be published for them to address the referral bonus issue. While that is fixed, I still stand by my previous review and what was done can’t be undone - We still have dirty and cracked tiles installed on our roof, the sheathing inspection was missed, and communication was confusing (although the employees were kind once we got ahold of someone). To be honest, the majority of our issues were with the roofing company Ameco subcontracted, so inquire who they will use for your roof.

We had an okay experience with Ameco. After getting bids from different companies for roofing and solar, we chose Ameco because they were referred by a friend and had the most competitive rate. Throughout the bid, planning, installation, and aftercare process, we’ve talked to so many people that we were not sure who to talk to about certain issues. We had issues with the roof installation (nails went through our soffit) and Ameco was able to help get the roofing company they used to trim the nails (but did not fix our soffit).

We referred some family members to Ameco (which we are now regretting because one family member also had issues with their roof installation), and we were promised a higher referral amount during a promotional period that we have documented in an email. They sent us a lower amount than promised via a gift card, and we have been trying to get ahold of them for the remainder of the bonus. We have been trying to get our referral bonus for a couple of months now, and they have either not answered their phones or did not return our messages. We’re very disappointed that they are choosing to ignore us after we have them a good amount of business.

If you choose to go with Ameco, I would caution you the communication is not great and they may not fulfill their promises.

So after few months finally they send a company to repair the broken wood on my garage roof, and I’m fine! Way we have to to this points for companies to take responsibility how many people they don’t speak up, to AMECO act on a good fait with all the customers thank you for repairing my roof

They did my solar panels and it was such a smooth and fast. The workers were very nice and showed they really care about what they do. Overall I would recommend this company if you need your solar panels done.

Update 3/4/2023:

A little over a week after posting my review, Ameco setup an appointment with SolarEdge (the inverter manufacturer). The SolarEdge technician came out and determined that some wiring from the initial installation was not installed correctly and that there was a possible issue with the inverter. After replacing the inverter and correcting the wiring, I'm happy to report that I now have a functioning solar battery backup system that works properly. During the past 2 weeks, we have had 4 power outages (ranging anywhere from 1-6 hours) during which time the backup batteries kicked in flawlessly. At this point I am a satisfied customer. Thinking about this update, I was unsure whether to up my rating to 3 or 4 stars. I'm still disappointed at the issues I had not only during the initial system failure but also the prolonged installation period I experienced. Ultimately, I believe that Ameco did their best to remedy the situation. Although I feel it could have been done in a much more timely manner with better communication. I shouldn't have to be the one to follow up and see what is being done. Sometimes communicating that there are no updates is better than not communicating anything to me at all. 4 stars

I’ve had my LG battery backup installed since 10/22. Finally went operational in December of 2022. Information on the SolarEdge app stopped appearing a few days afterward but was told that the system was still operating. During the severe storms that hit the Bay Area for 3 weeks, our power was knocked out for nearly 3 days. During that time the backup batteries failed to activate. After calling Ameco to report the failure, they have stated that the issue lies within the SolarEdge inverter software. Nearly 2 weeks later there is still no resolution. Very disappointed and upset. I did not spend money to have a solar backup battery system installed only for it to fail when we needed it the most. If an issue lies with the equipment they installed, perhaps that equipment shouldn’t be used, especially if the issues can’t be resolved in a timely manner. At this point, I’m waiting for their service department to call me back and advise me as to what they are going to do to rectify this situation. Can’t imagine recommending Ameco at this point in time. Will update once the current issues are resolved.
