Run away as fast as you can! We hired Rick and Margaret Willinsky to construct a new rock pool for us in Mountain Center, Ca. They assured us we would not need a fence around our pool, and a safety cover would suffice for permits. It did not, and as a result they told us in 4 different emails that they would cover the cost of the fence. I tried to cancel the contract after just one week before construction began, because I could see how this was going to go, but they promised us there would be no extra costs at the end of the project unless mutually agreed upon in writing so I went against my better judgment and continued with the construction.

After 1year, and breach of contract for not finishing within a reasonable time outside of the written contract (we gave them 3 more months but it was still nowhere near being completed) and a lot of manipulation with anger from Rick, it became unbearable and we finally terminated work. Rick did not want to hear from us during the construction of the pool and we wanted to communicate our preferences and concerns while it was being constructed, after all it’s our pool!

They then filed a defective mechanics lien on our property for $30,000 which is the amount it would have cost to finish the job with pool equipment yet to be purchased and installed and pebble tech to be installed.
We had to pay more than $30,000 to finish the job which we have receipts, but 1 year later we are still in court. At our mediation hearing, the mediator told us with no change orders and our receipts they have no case but they insist on going to trial.

They are asking for pool equipment never delivered nor installed and they are claiming they had to add more materials and boulders to our job without any sort of communication with us about it neither verbally nor most importantly written change orders.

Now the mechanics lien stays on our property until we can go to court. It will end up costing them at least $30,000 in legal fees to continue this lawsuit.

We have had two other customers of American heritage pool corp contact us and tell us they are going through this same thing. Look them up on the riverside county superior court website and see all their lawsuits. Seriously. Are you ready to go to court when your pool is done? You better pay them whatever they want even though they do not tell you a word during construction or you’ll get a mechanics lien on your property too.

Maggie was very helpful and professional. She came to our home answered all of our questions. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a pool. Especially if you're not sure what you are looking for.

You what to have American Heritage Pool Company do your pool for you. When I was looking for a company to rebuild the 1960’s pool in my yard I interviewed 6 companies and received bids from 5. Maggi from American Heritage was the person who took the time to explain the issues with my ideas and designed a plan that fit my budget and met all my needs. She and Rick have work with with me every step of the way to insure a perfect result. And the results have been exceptional! I am very happy to have worked with the team of professionals that they lead.

I am over the moon with my new bar, grill and fire pit. Margaret, Rick and Miguel are very professional, honest and take the time to explain everything.

Rick is the man with a vision! I thought I knew what I wanted and he took my dreams and made magic.

I would highly recommend this company. They are responsive, available and reasonable. When you call or message them you will get a response which I learned is not a guarantee from others here in the desert. American Heritage will not let you down.

Hired Rick & Maggie after interviewing several other pool builders, some who had very impressive sales presentations.
Their sales presentation was much more consultative than the others. Most came with cool designs that reflected their ideas yet Rick and Maggie sat down with me and a blank sheet of paper. We discussed what I was looking for and what my families interests were.
From there, Rick drew by hand a design with a much different location for the pool than the others. It allowed us more space for entertaining along with a putting green. We all agreed it was by far the best, highlighting their years of experience building pools.
After the meeting, I received a design and estimate that reflected everything we agreed upon.
The amazing thing that has NEVER happened before was, they gave me a time frame for building the pool. THIRTY DAYS FROM THE TIME THE PERMIT WAS RECEIVED. They beat that time by six days.
And it was all completed while I was out of town, crazy!
They did everything they said they would, never tried to up sell me, and left the job site clean. I must say that I had them make most of the decisions that homeowners generally like to make and that makes for a better outcome. I allowed them to use their vast experience and knowledge without imposing my ignorance into the equation. Why hire an expert and not benefit from their expertise?
Absolutely the best experience I have ever had with any type of contractor. I am still blown away by the whole thing!
I won't recommend the vast majority of the contractors who have worked for me yet they will get my personal recommendation every day of the week!
