Americana Jiu Jitsu Collective reviews
20 I love this place! As an almost 68 year old woman that has NEVER participated in anything physical before, this is a new adventure for me. My coach, Cynthia, is well versed in mui thai. She is patient but pushes me to excell. The class is perfect for a beginner, no matter your physical shape. The atmosphere is family oriented and welcoming.
I definitely recommend this dojo.
Good gym, great community, great training! The athletes and staff made us feel like family immediately and encouraged us to not only improve on the mat but off it aswell!
Americana Jiu Jitsu Collective is the best place around! My kids both take the Jiu Jitsu class and they love it. They have learned so many amazing skills that has helped their confidence so much! We are so thankful for the people and this experience. Thank you Americana!
Best place around! Offers a lot of classes, there is something for everyone. Awesome family environment!
This gym is amazing. My son trained here when he lived in the area. Now, we visit whenever we’re in town. It’s family oriented and so welcoming. I even took in a kickboxing class and it was fire. Would most definitely recommend you pop in and check it out. Its home away from home.
If you are looking for an academy that will not only teach your child Jiu Jitsu but real life skill Americana Jiu Jitsu Collective is for you. Thank you Coach Michael for everything you do for our family!
This is the best place for beginners and for advanced Jiu Jitsu. They are welcoming and knowledgeable - you can tell they care about their students. Make sure to check them out for great jiu jitsu training!
Great place to train! The head BJJ instructor is knowledgeable and a genuine nice guy to talk to and the striking coach is also chill and easy going. This is the place to train whenever you are in Yucca valley. They are great with kids and the adult class has great students that are eager to learn and get better at BJJ. When I'm in Yucca Valley this is where I'll be going to train
Definitely would recommend anyone to train here, everyone makes you feel welcome. This was my first time ever doing Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu and it was a great experience, I felt awesome coming out of my comfort zone. You’ll definitely learn self defense skills and have fun
The coaches Michael, Cindia, Zach, and Robert are great and passionate in teaching each of their students and are patient with newbies like me
TL;DR: don't come here for jiujitsu unless it's your only option.
I originally wrote this for Yelp, but I added more info here.
I recently moved to Yucca Valley and searched for Jiujitsu schools in the area. Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree only have one school, this school, and they seem to take advantage of that.
The school has no website (update: I guess they do have one, it just doesn't have useful into). You have to contact them on Facebook to get any info, then they only tell you the terms and price in person by getting you to talk to their program coordinator or whatever. The Jiujitsu classes are taught by a purple belt. They force you to wear their uniforms. The price they showed me was basically $200 a month for 2 classes a week (see picture.need to pay 3 months in advance). I asked and they said it would cost more for more classes per week. That's more money per class than I paid in San Francisco (which is one of the most expensive cities in the world), and those classes were taught by a 3rd degree black belt straight from Brazil. They mentioned drop-ins cost $25, so not sure what the incentive is to pay for a membership, since it's the same ridiculous cost. The drop-in fee is fine, but having to pay the drop-in fee for every class even if you are a member? Ridiculous. The entire interaction when I was trying to get info about classes and prices felt like I was buying a car at a used car dealer. Nothing was transparent, or upfront.
Not sure where these rave reviews come from. I've dropped in for classes at lots of gyms, including internationally, and I was disappointed about my initial experience visiting and getting info. Seems like a nice space but I was disappointed. I'm sure the classes are fine but man, they are totally taking advantage of people with their pricing.
Friendly, family oriented and a great place to bring your kids to learn something new every day.
Very technical school! Had a great time a was treated like family! Will be back when in Cali! For sure! Osss
What a wonderful place to train. The instructors are so welcoming and knowledgeable. Whether you are a professional athlete or total novice to the martial arts, you will find the training exceptional. Don’t hesitate to start training. The first step is always the hardest.
Experienced instructors and practioners who are friendly and looking to help everyone improve regardless of skill level. Specializing in MMA, Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling. Marine Corps Veteran owned and operated.
Also an Erik Paulson CSW affiliate and an overall great place to train at.
Love the family and friendly vibe of Americana. Mike, Cindia and their daughters have helped and supported all three of my boys in their skils but also as role models and friends.
I take kickboxing classes here and Coach Micheal is super knowledgeable and helps modify my training to fit me. The staff is super friendly and make me feel welcomed and are always there whenever I have questions or concerns. This is a family oriented facility so I highly recommend training for the whole family.
I had a blast today and the last year I was here I always had fun wrestling with my teammates they’re really sweet and the instructors are extremely helpful
Can’t say enough good things about Americana Jiu Jitsu. They offer a variety of classes and the instructors are knowledgeable, talented and fun. Our son has been coming here since he was 4 and he absolutely loves it!
Americana Jiu Jitsu is outstanding, student friendly environment. Coach Mike and his family provide a safe and disciplined environment necessary for all student levels. With no previous experience in combat sports I was very nervous to begin but within weeks I felt like I belonged. Amazing people and a fantastic experience. I cannot recommend it enough.
Great people, they care about the community and kids. All sorts of classes available, if you want your kids to gain self esteem, get stronger and learn valuable skills this is a wonderful place to take classes.
