Great office and a fantastic team; they care about your pet, they have experience, and the place is clean.

Chelsea, the lady at the front desk, is very friendly and helpful. I liked the warm welcome when I walked in.

Love this vet! My cat just had a hernia surgery here and they took great care of him. Chelsey even walked me through a new way to tie his e-collar on over the phone. The backpack tie stopped him from getting out of the collar and licking his wound. A big thank you Chelsey and the rest of the team for making this process as smooth as possible!

Terrible front desk service, a complete lack of professionalism and tact. Chelsea was rude and maintained a demeanor that insinuated she didn’t care about anything I was saying. I felt so uncomfortable with just calling to get my cat scheduled in that I’ll never come back here. Highly unfortunate. From a business perspective, I highly recommend training programs for how to talk to customers, and provide an amicable experience to maintain a clientele.

So many awesome vets in slo that make you feel comfy enough to leave your babies with them, this isn’t one…. For me, at least.

This doctor did a surgery that other doctors wouldn't perform. He gave my dog a few more amazing years because the surgery was such a success. Would highly recommend.

Office management was deceitful and delayed the delivery of my dog’s medication. They do not return phone calls, they will attempt to over charge for “abnormal lab values” that require repeat draws. These procedures are $300. They will not refill your prescriptions until you comply. In a dog who has been vomiting, it is normal to have slightly altered lab values. Please go elsewhere.

I came here for a recheck appointment after going to the emergency vet in Atascadero. The vet that saw my dog was really kind and helped clarify some of the information that I had gotten from emergency. The staff was super patient and caring- especially since my phone kept dropping their calls. Would definitely recommend to people looking for a kind and patient facility to take care of their babies!

I heartily recommend Dr. Cody Lewis and his staff at the Animal Hospital of San Luis Obispo.

Our Siamese cat developed a sudden erosive abscess on his rear end and stopped eating. Our regular vet refused to see him for an emergency and we would have waited for four days for treatment. The abscess could have grown exponentially by then.

The overpriced emergency vet center nearby had a five hour wait and expected us to wait in the car, sick cat in the carrier. After another day of searching for a vet, we found Dr. Lewis. The receptionist was informative, concerned, and accommodated us immediately.

We were recognized by name with a smile, and were promptly led to an exam room where a skilled vet tech took in the medical history and chief complaint. Soon after Dr. Lewis came in for an exam. He was very pleasant and cheerful and gave us an immediate sense of assurance. We found him to be very knowledgeable, explaining thoroughly the diagnosis, treatment, and follow up. Even the checkout went very smoothly and we were pleasantly surprised that the fee did not appear excessive like other places.

Our sweet cat was so much better three hours later and we are so grateful that this office recognized the serious nature of the situation and put our cat first unlike the other offices.

They have helped me with my dog so much! Always make sure we find a way to get him the care he deserves even if he gets panicked and can be difficult to handle. Quick turn around with prescriptions. Consistent staff that remembers my pet and his needs.

10 STARS if I could! I can’t say more positive things about this place! THEY LOVE ANIMALS! You can sense the empathy over the phone when give them a call.

Had an appt scheduled Later in week but had an emergency and needed to get my dog (son) in ASAP due to extreme facial swelling overnight.

From every receptionist to the nurses and doctors, everyone was AMAZING! SO KIND, KNOWLEDGEABLE, CONSIDERATE AND HELPFUL to say the least.

My Husband and I felt SO comfortable here with the location, building, staff and doctors!

They treated our dog and gave us the best meds to use for him! We are at SO much ease! Sheesh!

TL;DR: poor front desk staff and a tight schedule leave no flexibility or understanding.

I scheduled an appointment for my elderly dog to get checked out for some issues that have been concerning us. I arrived at the vet's office five minutes late and when I called the desk to let them know I'd arrived they informed me I couldn't be seen because it would impact their other patients. For the record, my car was the only other car parked in the lot and there were no other patients waiting to be seen.

The woman I spoke with at the front desk had zero empathy or understanding. However, I would probably be impatient too if I had to work for a veterinarian who struggles with scheduling. Fortunately, there are other practices that are run in a more professional and flexible manner and we wound up scheduling with them.

If you need a fair-weather vet then these guys might do but if you want someone who's reliable and understands when things aren't perfect I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Dr. Lewis is a true professional, and his team is efficient, knowledgeable, and very kind. I'd recommend this vet to anyone looking for a regular care provider.

This vet sees both my dog and my cat and they are wonderful. I have had several emergencies with both animals and they are quick to fit me in same day when needed. They are kind and compassionate and great pre-COViD and now!
