I came in for a second visit with my fearful dog who is nervous around strangers. I always muzzle him and give him his prescribed anti anxiety meds before vet visit to help the situation and we have done a lot of work for him to be comfy at the vet (side note, I’m studying dog behavior and training). We settled in in the office and we’re doing well with my dog relaxing at my feet. When the Dr came in he barely said anything to me before having 2 techs grab my dog without any warning. My (blind) dog was scared out of his mind and gave a growl. He was trembling with fear. I suggested that I handle my dog so that it could go smoother and Dr Faber raised his voice and said “HEY YOU LISTEN TO ME THIS IS WHAT WE ARE DOING”. They continued to manipulate my terrified dog who at this point was completely dissociated. I continued to advocate for my dog, saying “this isn’t going to work” but everyone in the room ignored me. I tried to feed my dog a treat to help him feel more comfortable and was reprimanded for “rewarding bad behavior”. By the end of the exam I was in tears and my dog was traumatized. While I was being reprimanded the Dr was also throwing glares my way. I didn’t feel comfortable asking questions as I just needed to get out of there as soon as possible and I was crying and In shock. I paid a bunch of money and left to cry in the parking lot for half an hour. I had nightmares all night.

Side note: I overheard him telling another woman in the waiting room who had a terrified dog that they just needed to hold the dog down until he stopped acting up to show him who’s boss. This is Inhumane and unethical treatment of animals.

I should have insisted on leaving the second things felt bad, but sometimes it’s hard when faced with medical needs and feeling vulnerable in a situation of an authority figure like this.

This man traumatized me and my dog. I will obviously never go back and I hope this experience doesn’t happen to anyone else.

After waiting 3 months to get in with Dr. Faber, we were told we are not wanted at his practice before even being seen. We had an appointment with Dr. Faber for my German Shepherd on a Thursday, the staff called me on Monday to request I get sedatives for my dog. Per my veterinarian clinic the request would need 3 to 4 business days so they could not guarantee the medication would be filled prior to his appointment on Thursday. After I called back doctor Faber’s office, they were closed for the day and left a detailed message in regards to my predicament. I received a call back after hours with a message left saying it is my choice to bring in my dog with or without sedative, but they might have to reschedule the appointment, depending on how my dog reacts. I was willing to eat the cost of the office visit. The next morning I get a call saying that Dr. Faber is not wanting to see my dog. The staff would not give me any reason for the decision. But, given that I have waited three months for an appointment to find out two days prior that we are not wanted is very upsetting and unprofessional. I feel personally attacked and my dog was discriminated against because of his GSD breed.

Very thorough, calls us at the appt to review the next steps.their office is very friendly when we call to schedule. Appreciative of Dr Faber’s expertise in caring for our senior dog.

The only OFA optometrist within 100 mi radius of Sacramento that we could find. Quick eye test at a reasonable price. The results were on OFA within an hour.

Friendly professional staff. Treated both my dog and myself with respect. Thorough exam.
