Apple Green Bistro, Cupertino CA

This place had been great in both flavor and food quality a few years ago. But our recent two visits were awful. The food were not fresh and we got false advertisement.

One time was a few weeks ago when we ordered roasted fish (烤鱼) and the fish tasted not fresh while Apple Green claimed all their fish were fresh cooked. To us it felt very close to a taste of frozen-for-a-long -time-and-then-defrost fish.

The second time is today where we ordered frog pot (干锅牛蛙，活杀) and lamb chop (烤羊排). The meat of both were hard and not easy to consume. They don’t seem to be fresh cooked while the menu claims they are. We talked to the manager but she said that the center of the roasted lamb’s meat will be soft while the edge ones got burned. I am not sure if we should be responsible for those burned ones but even with our insist, the manager didn’t offer a different resolution than forcing us to accept it. So we had to eat them and went back home. Around 20mins later both of us had got a run. We felt really angry.

That’s why I am writing this review and please do not go to this place. The food is not fresh cooked and the service is disingenuous.

Apple Green Bistro (I swear I thought it was Green Apple Bistro but then that's because I can read Chinese) is one of my favorite restaurants in the South Bay. It's one of those places that you go when you don't have any particular cravings but always exceed your expectations. I go there mostly for the spicy dishes but I have to say even simple scallion beef is juicy and tender. The fiery frog has a cool presentation. The sesame pancake is always delicious and mostly everything is good. Occasionally you encounter one or two appetizers such as the spicy beef tripe that's soso but something else will definitely make you happy.

Very delicious food! I was surprised! Portion is big too! Will definitely be back! Helpful and friendly staff.

If I could rate it less than 1 star. The lamp is black and hard to chew. We had to throw it away.

Don’t be fooled by the photos on the outside of the shop or the name! We thought this place was vegetarian, but thankfully it’s not, and the food blew us away!

Ordering: Contactless via QR code, and they have photos for just about every dish

Food: INCREDIBLY flavorful and very authentic! My bf is from Szechuan, and he loved all the spicy dishes (it’s not too numbing so you can still taste the food under the spice)! Our favorite that we got was the tofu ribbons - loved the texture and the flavor! Plus, if you spend over $55 and pay wish cash, you get a choice (from a small list) of a free dish. We got the cold spicy noodles, and it was so refreshing and on point for a hot day!

Service: Very fast, but don’t go in with the expectation of having a server come to your table every other minute. If you want something, just wave the server down!

Fairly decent esp for some of it's spicy food. Decent pricing, can have a small wait during peak hours, but the place is quite large

My favorite Chinese place in this area.they used to make extremely spicy chili oil.miss that very much. Hope they'll bring it back. Thats what got me coming to this place in the beginning, but the quality cooking is just great to keep me coming back.

Yesterday (8/26/22), I went to Apple Green Bistro in Cupertino for lunch (my first meal of the day). I arrived about 12: 45pm and the restaurant was almost empty. They do not have a lunch menu. We ordered eggplant with garlic, beef with vegetables and pepper, and rice. I also ordered orange chicken for takeout because my wife likes it. The beef came promptly and was OK. The eggplant came about 20 minutes later. We confirmed with the waitress that it was eggplant with garlic. The eggplant came with vegetables covered with thick sugary syrup and way too much hot stuff. There was no hint of garlic. It was awful. I tried the Orange chicken, at home, for dinner. It was covered with thick sugary syrup that had congealed into a gelatinous mass that had way too much hot stuff and only a faint hint of Oranges. It was disgusting.

Very yummy chinese food. I'm actually from Vancouver Canada. Where we have hands down the best Asian food in North America but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was here. Clearly authentic. My fav was the sweet sour chicken along bean sprouts. Order a bowl of rice. It was absolutely heaven.

I think this is the best Chinese restaurant in Cupertino area! Service is good and the restaurant is clean. We’ve been there for a few times now and every time we try something new, we ended up liking it. Our favorite dishes so far:
- dry scallops and white egg fried rice
- sizzling black pepper beef
- beef dry pot (forgot the actual name of this)

It’s located in the Wolfe ranch99 plaza, so you have lots of boba options for dessert afterwards

We’ve the customer for this store for many years. It becomes very expensive and not taste as good as before. I would not recommend this store. Also, very bad customers service.

Tastes really good. I ordered to go. I’m use to getting the sauce on the side so if you order the sweet and sour chicken to go it’ll be on it and it apparently doesn’t come with rice. Not a long wait time either.

This place has no integrity. We made an order in the morning to be delivered by 7 PM. They never showed up or answered their phone. Then at 7: 40 PM they cancelled our order by text. This place is completely unreliable.

We ordered dinner package from DoorDash for the Luna new year. We put the order at 3pm for 6pm delivery. We waited until 8: 30pm and just got a message said ordered got cancelled. I called the restaurant several times but no one answered. Turned out we had nothing for new year dinner.

I called them in the second day and asked for the reason. They just told me they were too busy and have no time to talk about it. Very disappointed experience.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants during COVID. Delivery/pick up are super convenient, and the food is always high-quality. They can accommodate different flavor preferences (e.g. No spicy, less oil etc.) and they also develop new dishes every now and then. The crab shown in picture is one of the newest dishes and it tastes really good:)
