Arden & Howe Shoe & Luggage Repair reviews
16 I visited this place due to the good reviews, but I had a horrible first time experience getting my luggage repaired. I paid $67 to have a duffle bag and Fanny pack repaired. The work on the duffle bag was poor (check the photos, he added strips of leather that weren’t even cut straight) and he forgot to repair one tear, and the Fanny pack had a zipper replaced which came out okay, but overall, the service was deserving of one-star.
I met the owner and dropped off my bags for repair. He went over what we would do, and he told me to pick them up on Friday because he was leaving for vacation on Saturday. He even wrote it on my claim ticket. Faithfully, I came on that Friday morning. He put a sign up that he was gone all weekend.
I came the next day his shop opened up after his vacation, my duffle bag was partially repaired and he forgot to repair a tear. He quickly glued it and it didn’t fix the tear. Most of all, I was upset that I had to drive an extra 1 hour round trip to come back to pick up my items. When I gently brought up that he wasn’t present on the Friday he asked me to come, he quickly made excuses that he was indeed there on the same day I saw the sign. I pushed on why he was already out of town when he told me to pick up, and he said he was sick, and tried to say that I get sick too so I should understand. I realized he must’ve forgotten he told me he was going on vacation that weekend, and I realized he was not going to take ownership for the service he gave.
I can work with imperfect work, but I can’t work with a place that is dishonest. I hate posting bad reviews for small businesses, but people need to know what they’re getting into. I will avoid this place at all costs.
He fixed the unfixable for $38! TSA busted the zipper on my roller bag. Saved me at least $100 and kept something useful out of the landfill. Thanks!
Don't listen to the good reviews of this place because corners were definitely taken. When I brought my Birkenstocks into this place for a Cork and Sole Repair, the owner told me that he would refill the Cork and replace the sole. Instead of refilling the Cork, he put a cheap cork strip around the back hiding the original cork damage. See pictures. Then when I called him, he told me that if I had wanted the cork repaired it would be 95 dollars! A new pair of Birkenstocks cost between 130-145, and the other repair place that I went to prior charged $55 dollars for Cork and Sole repair done right. Yes, his prices are cheap, but with everything, you get what you pay for. For $9 dollars more, New Shoe Repair on Fulton will repair your Birkenstocks right.
This guy is unprofessional and rude. He hung up on a lady right in front of me as I waited for my turn. After he began helping me I told him to be careful with the bag several times. He asks me “why are you so careful”? I answered back because it is new. Since my bag damage was paint related he said he couldn’t do it because of the intricate design. I’m actually glad it didn’t work out. I wouldn’t want to entrust my luxury bag with someone who asks me why do I want him to be so careful. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!
He was awesome he told me I have done in a week but I told him I was leaving on Friday and won't be back for a 2 months so he told me I can come back and pick it up the next morning. I wasn't expecting that super happy Awesome job.highly recommended.
What great renewal offered back into my boots and sandals! I was amazed at the quality care and results! Thank you soo much. You work magic.
I love this shoe repair shop! The owner did an excellent job repairing my shoes! He also charges a reasonable price! I appreciate the pride in workmanship!
I have been coming here (both the old and the newer location) for many years and am always grateful for the work that is done on shoes, luggage, and dog gear. The complaints I see on this site have nothing to do with the workmanship and getting the work done in a timely way—they are all about personal interactions. People need to realize that there is not one perfect way to engage with customers. I am grateful that this service exists and can be relied upon. I don’t need cheerful greetings to make me a happy customer.
Owner very friendly & professional. He pays attention to detail. My boots needed heels replaced. He finished in 10 minutes.

I just want to say that my experience with this gentleman who works at the shoe repair was amazing! I had a trip to Puerto Vallarta and in a very short notice he was able to fix my heels and fix one of my shoes that I was going to wear for my friend's wedding I am so very thankful! Thank you soon much!
It is so nice to find a reputable shoe repair shop. Clean atmosphere. He did a great job for 2 pairs of shoes while I waited. Highly recommend.
I went in to ask about shoe repair! This Slavic proprietor was very short and discourteous to the say the least when he ran his business next to Saigon Bay! I figured I would give him another shot next to Michaels craft store! Same rude attitude! Not one penny from me! I took my business elsewhere!
I searched every place that could repair my coach purse due to essential oil leak inside of the pocket. Nobody had a solution or cure to the problem so I took it to Arden based on reviews I had looked up. I’m completely satisfied with the results. An expensive purse looks near to new after they treated it. There was no hope but to trash this purse as even “Coach” couldn’t repair or give advice. I will use them any time for any reason that deals with leather repair.
My best experience with a cobbler EVER. He restored my old boots in just a few days and they look brand new. I highly recommend.
I brought two pair of leather riding boots, a pair of tall dress boots, and a pair of heels for repair. All four pair look fabulous! New heel tips on the two pair and new heels and soles on the riding boots. They all look nearly new again. And so clean!
Replaced a zipper on my tool bag and resoled some boots for me. Absolutely top notch workmanship, for which I would have been happy to pay much more.
