Armadillo Willy's BBQ, Santa Clara CA

Awesome meal. Everything was yummy, took some home, even. Baby back, lean brisket, yummmmy cornbread muffin, texas tots we crunchy and soft, crispy green salad and mmm onionrings, and the jalapeno bbq sause is very nice. Was there on Monday before 4p. Mmmmmmy good

This is like fast food barbeque. You come in and order, then sit anywhere and eat.or take out. Nothing special but the food is good and reasonably priced.

They said they did not have the kids rub plate available because they didn't have the ribs, but that we could buy the regular full size rib plate instead. Which was almost double the price for my 11 year old. Not sure why they couldn't cut those ones down to the kids serving. Spent almost 70 dollars for myself and my daughter to order a simple dinner.

Labor Day service - the food was excellent however the changeover from using pagers to demanding your phone# to advise your order is ready is not well done. I choose not to hand out the number or be part of a data collection. Employee didn't know what to do however a name was used to call out to us. Great, however they never called out to us and the food was getting cold on the cooks shelf until a busser who knew us told us it was ready. The food was pricey and this was not funny, we will not go back to be treated like less of a patron simply because we want our # to be private.

I ordered the Ultimate Hickory Burger to go, when I got home they left the Bacon and mustard off of it, they added extra onions it was full of raw onions nasty will not go back to Santa Clara

This place has some really good food the brisket is soft moist and delicious the ribs are perfectly cooked and they make some of the best burgrers in the valley I would've gave 5 stars but im not a fan of eating food off of parchment paper, it just feels like you need a plate under it, most people dont mind it though i understand the gimmick just not a fan, but the food makes it worth it

Underwhelming, pricey, small portions, tasteless. The meat - brisket, chicken and ribs were dry with noooo real flavor and the barbecue sauce itself did nothing to improve this dish at all. The mac and cheese, which you can't normally mess up, also had noooo flavor.

For once we have plenty of leftovers in the fridge that will just sit there. We had high hopes and were expecting much much more from a BBQ dinner - 82 dollars, definitely not worth it.

This restaurant can do better despite trying to overcome pandemic challenges.

Armadillo Willy's is still the best in the San Jose, Santa Clara, Campbell, and Mountain View. I really like the Burgers, which have superior toppings like smoked bacon, different cheeses, and avocado with a super soft bun! They are competitive with some of your favorite burger shacks or way better. Love the brisket, corn bread muffins and of course the ribs! The tortilla soup is 2nd to none as far as I'm concerned. So many great things to try. The smoked turkey avocado stack is a pleaser, and the Mac n cheese topped with Brisket (or any choice of smoked meat) is definitely a step on the wild flavor side. All of these plates are favorites of mine. I was born in Santa Clara and graduated from SCH. I've been eating at this establishment for over 30 years. I've seen a lot of restaurants come and go over the last 3 decades but Willy's has held strong, and for good reason! I'd like to add that 5 years ago I moved to Austin, Texas and managed a famous BBQ chain for a couple years. I smoked Brisket every day. So I know a few things about proper BBQ!
Tonight I took my mom to the Santa Clara location for her birthday and we had a great time! Thank you Armadillo Willy's for doing what you do!

Ordered a bake potato waited for ten minutes and then it's cold! Food tasted blah we didn't even finish it. Won't be going back.

We’re from out of town, Finding a Bar-b-que place open on New Years Day was a bit tough, took a chance at Armadillo Willy’s. It is the BOMB! The Brisket was to die for. They have a Bar-b-que sauce with Jalapeños…. WOW! Absolutely Delicious! We will definitely eat here again!

There's nothing extra special about the place. I just happen to love the food and ambience there, so it is a very subjective ranking.
But hey, thanks for the vibe!

Texas bbq ribs is quite good, tender and tasty.sauce complements the ribs.outdoor and outdoor dining available, also takeout.friendly staff.this is near Ross store.parking is plenty.

What a joke. Texas BBQ? More like old bbq. The ribs were dry, hard, and severely lacking actual meat on the bones. Additionally, the sausage "sandwich" was just a sausage on bread. Nothing else. While technically a sandwich, it was lacking the soul of a sandwich. What a joke. The only thing that was edible in the state it was delivered was the cornbread which I will say was fantastic.

Consistantly friendly helpful staff, food ready at estimated time, convenient location near other stores so can grab other needed shopping while getting our meal.

That was the worse BBQ experience I’ve ever had. I’ve came to this place just by chance (and good reviews) to have a BBQ lunch. I had a bad feeling when I’ve entered when they said I have to order first. But I said let’s try, maybe still they serve good bbq. I’ve picked my order and when I’ve sit I’ve noticed the meat has not cooked fresh. It was clearly on that plate for longtime and stuck on it. And of course was not hot. On top of that it’s not looking like a real steak. I’ve took it back and talked to the staff behind the counter. He said something like he was sorry but it is not a case to be sorry. Come on, this food was not something normal to serve in a bbq restaurant. Despite I’ve mentioned if it will not be freshly cooked, I do not want it, he brought the same thing back.they, I think, put it inside the microwave and it was worse than before. I was not in a mood to talk about it anymore. I just said ok and ate. If you call this restaurant bbq, either you or me, one of us we do not know what a bbq is. I’ve had the worse and worse bbq food of my life. And I’ve paid ~$22 for this. I’ve got super sad when I was there seeing people who were waiting in line to order something from that place. Seriously that’s a food you think it’s delicious bbq? Do you really think it was delicious? I can’t believe myself that I’ve been there trusting the good reviews I’ve seen. I can guarantee any kind of fast food restaurant had much more delicious food than here. Or just buy a steak and cook it at home, it will be super fresh, hot, delicious and also half price. Hope I can forget this terrible experience asap.

Food is good as always. When you get inside you need to put up signage to which line is which. Standing in line behind 3 people for 15 minutes only to find out they are all carry out. Please designate a waiting area for carry out orders, versus people eating in, it will save time and frustration.
