I took Hannah's Academic Drawing Class. Every class had a lecture that was helpful and instructional. Hannah was a wonderful teacher, she was so funny and brought great energy to class. She gave individualized attention and helpful suggestions to every student. She really wanted us to learn and succeed in the drawing fundamentals. I really appreciated her enthusiasm for teaching.
This class is perfect for providing the fundamental techniques for all future art styles and media. I highly recommend this class, and I look forward to taking more in the future!

I have had very little acrylic and zero oil painting experience before my classes with Hugo. After learning some important basics about color and Impressionism technique, Hugo allowed us plenty of space and time to get to work. I am impressed with what he was able to help me achieve! Hugo offers a very laid back class but is available for input and tips as needed. He encourages exploration and is very knowledgeable but, most importantly, he’s a nice and flexible person who creates a comfortable learning environment. I live in Marin and make the trip to Hugo’s class in the city because I like the kind of class he offers. He is a kind and talented artist who is fun to paint with! Thanks Hugo!

My first ever Art class was with Hugo Kobayashi. I hadn’t a clue what to expect from this multi session introduction to fine art. I have loved it, learned so much and will definitely add more classes. Hugo was helpful, thoughtful, encouraging. He commented and made smart suggestions about perspective, color, visual tips. Hannah is a wonderful instructor who effectively conveys color theory with clarity. The class encourages thinking outside the box, nurturing creativity, and, above all, truly embracing the joy of life.

Currently taking the Oil and Acrylic class with Hannah, which is my first course at Art School of SF Bay. I absolutely love this place - it is such a wonderful and welcoming studio for people of all levels. Hannah is beyond amazing - she is not only a super talented artist herself, but an incredible teacher who is able to really explain/break concepts down to make them palatable for lay people such as myself. She is immensely patient, extremely accommodating with conflicts and other real life issues that crop up from time to time, and always makes the class a really fun experience. I am super grateful not only to have found this studio as my haven for learning and developing my art skills, but also especially to have Hannah as my instructor. I've already signed up for a Portrait Painting class with her for the next session and am super excited to continue my art journey here. Thank you!

I've been taking adult drawing and painting classes at the Art School of SF Bay San Francisco for almost a year now, running the gamut from watercolor to acrylic to oil painting to manga drawing to figure drawing. My time here has been nothing short of incredible (and I still plan to take more classes as there's always so much more to learn) ; in every course I've taken, I've been guided by friendly and passionate teachers who genuinely care about their students and helping them to improve, and who have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with everyone every class. Austin, Cody, Hana, Hannah, and Katerina are all amazing and I've learned so much from all of them. However, I want to give an especial shout-out to Austin for really helping me to grow creatively; every manga art class, he brings an extraordinary love for the craft and even art as a lifestyle that has been absolutely invaluable in guiding me on my artistic journey, and through him I've been exposed to many amazing artists I didn't know of before (like Yoh Yoshinari, Joe Mad, Tsutomu Nihei, and Kim Jung Gi, among many many others). His passion for art reminds me of why I draw and inspires me to keep going, and I owe so much to him and his teaching.

I do also want to mention that the space itself is clean and well outfitted, equipped, and decorated, so it's a very cozy and comfortable place. The school provides any needed supplies, like watercolor palettes, oil and acrylic paints, canvases, and bristol paper, which is very convenient for anyone just getting off of work for an evening class. I absolutely love this place and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their art skills or to just have fun making art.

I've been taking Oil and Acrylic Painting with Hannah and she's amazing! I had some background in acrylic painting and it was my first time trying oil, and it was amazing for myself to see how much my skill progressed in painting in this class. Hannah not only helped me find ways to improve on my own paintings, but also made the whole painting experience really chill and fun. Would recommend to anyone who's seeking to try oil and/or to improve their painting skills.

I started to take classes here last year (2022) for Figure Drawing. It wasn’t until I took the Acrylic and Oil Painting class taught by Hannah Wynkoop that I really fell in love with this art school. She is a great art teacher—able to meet all of her students at their current levels and build not only everyone’s art skills, but also their confidence in art. I have attached some photos of my work done in class.
I really appreciate how relaxed the environment is and how, unlike other art classes, all the materials are provided for in the school. It is very easy to make up a missed classes. This is such a supportive and fun environment that I have already signed up for more classes.

I had an amazing experience taking a beginner/intermediate adult acrylic/oil painting class at the Art School of SF Bay. I've attended both Hugo and Cody's classes, who are both great artists and instructors. However, I cannot sing higher praises for Hannah Wynkoop, who is not only a talented artist but also a skilled instructor. As a complete beginner to acrylic and oil painting, I felt extremely intimidated when starting out the class as many other students are more intermediate. Hannah was able to break down complex concepts into simple explanations/analogies and personalize her teaching based on each student's needs and challenges. She is a master at making artistic skills relatable to each student and she is extremely patient, especially with a beginner like me. She even offers make-up classes on Sundays by coming into the studio a couple of hours early.

I have gained lots of new skills and improved tremendously through the 12 week class. I'd 100% take another art class with Hannah at the Art School of SF Bay and recommend anyone at any level to consider a class there!

I've been loving the adult beginner art classes with Hugo Kobayashi! He's been very encouraging and given a great introduction to a bunch of fundamental tools and techniques for drawing and painting. I definitely recommend the class!

My daughter has been taking classes here for 7 years. She has loved many of her teachers especially Teacher John. The Art School has been flexible and allowed her to try different art mediums and has helped develop her love for art and she is continuing this at her high school. Her decision to pursue art in college is in part due to the last 7 years spent at Art School of SF Bay. We would highly recommend this school.
