This is a great flight school with great instruction. I plan on getting my instrument rating and commercial rating and possibly my CFI cert in the future.

Great place to learn to fly, my instructor Nico is great. He makes flying easy and is very knowledgeable. The school is great plenty of planes available and many instructors is pretty easy to get time to fly and they work around your schedule.

**Updated review: I started from the beginning at Ascent Aviation Academy in the career program and can proudly say I’ve earned my CFI and am now working as one of the instructors. If you complete the in house training you are guaranteed a job, that is an amazing perk and I am loving working here so far! With plenty of airplanes and instructors you can tailor when you train to your schedule. Ascent Avaiation is top notch! I've been there for about 7 weeks now, and let me tell you, this is the place where you want to learn how to fly! I met Seth, the owner, and he gave me the run down of the program (the career path) and what to expect. He's incredibly knowledgeable and talks to you with respect right from the beginning. Unlike other schools, this one doesn't ask you to cough up 6 figures just to start learning how to fly. The format is "pay-as-you-go", and that makes it easier to segment out the costs. I've had the privilege of flying with most of the instructors so far, and all of them are outstanding! They make it really easy to understand the basics of flying and make you feel comfortable flying as well. Chris is my main instructor, followed by Yuri as my back up instructor. The amount of confidence they instill upon you when learning how to fly a plane has been amazing. Whether you want to get your private pilots license, or want to pursue a career in aviation, you should pick Ascent Avaiation as your school. Don't look anywhere else, this is the program you want!

I had consultations with two other flight schools in LA before I sat down with Seth at Ascent Aviation. I knew immediately when I met Seth I was at the right place. You can tell he genuinely cares about seeing his students succeed. My instructor Nico is fantastic. He’s very patient, and level headed. Also, training at the extremely busy Van Nuys airport is valuable experience for a career as a professional pilot. Anyone looking for a flight school in LA should check out Ascent.

I initially attended Ascent Aviation to acquire a few flying hours to enhance my National Guard pilot application. However, the school was such a positive experience for me that I decided to go all the way and acquire my PPL. It has all the perks you look for in a school, and plenty of skilled/professional instructors. I personally trained with Nico, who does a great job of making the material less daunting and is always helpful when you make mistakes (you’ll make a lot of them). If you’re in the research phase of which school to choose, this should be your final stop. Best school in LA!

Ascent is an amazing and professional flight school! Flight Instructor Evan has been doing an awesome job showing me the ropes. I have heard so many horror stories with other schools around the LA area but so far I am 15 hours in to getting my PPL and have been having a great time. Highly recommend.

I looked at a few flight schools before deciding on ascent. The main thing for me was how helpful everyone was. Just a few days ago, I passed my PPL. This would not have happened without the endless dedication and patience from my instructor Chris.

I have heard alot of good things about this school, but you guys don't reply, I have tried calling, emailing and texting on your number and WhatsApp but I got left hanging. Ascent was my top pick for many reasons but above all, they have a very organized program, the airplanes are in excellent shape (i especially love the new archer they just got from Kentucky ha) autopilots in the archers, full adsb in and out for traffic alerts. Great spot to train!

Run by professionals with your goals in mind. My instructor has been top notch from day one. I cannot think Evan and Seth enough for getting me to my first solo today!

All the other schools i checked out had just came into business within the last year or 2. Ascent is the only one that has lots of airplanes that are all very updated and also the only ones that have been around more than 5 years. When i saw their Instagram and how many people were accomplishing their goals that sealed the deal

I booked a discovery flight last week at this place and all I can say is STAY AWAY! As soon as we went to see the plane I have noticed how bad it looks. The tires were cracked and as you see in my pictures the depth of tread was not even 0 it was below 0! Unsafe to fly plus the plane was leaking fuel (not the vent there is a crack in the tank). I was told not to take more pictures and the instructor explained to me that this is how this school operates! The owner doesn't care about safety. He even recommended to call other schools and get the PPL elsewhere.

Stay away! I got tricked by Seth to sign up for my PPL and let after 1 week. Horrible atmosphere, old dirty planes leaking oil all over the place. Was told by the mechanic there that the owner doesn't even do maintenance required by law
