From the moment we arrived the experience was excellent. The front desk staff offered us champagne and upgraded our room. The staff definitely deserves 5 stars! We came for a quick getaway from life and kids, and for sleep. The reason I gave 4 is because our upgraded room was actually over the pool which had a speaker that was playing music. The fan wasn't working well, and it made a loud noise every time it kicked back on. There was water dripping from the fan which you could hear every time it hit the carpet. I didn't say anything because they really were so nice. I think the hotel may need a little pick me up, or face lift.

A sanctuary! Nice rooms and gorgeous salt water pools. A fantastic restaurant and poolside drinks and snacks. The location is fabulous, on the edge of the main drag! I love staying here!

Always like staying at home staying here. The staff feel like friends they are just so nice and attentive. Makes for a casual but chic vibe. The food is always good. Our stays are always memorable. We never want to leave.

I used my Marriott bonvoy program to book my stay and in total with the resort fee that I was charged for, it did cost me more than $600 for my stay at one night, I am really shocked and disappointed about the hotel and quality of room I got.

Following are my observations during my stay at my room and pictures are available and can be shared upon request:

Walking into the room I could see that carpeting is not done carefully and it looks like a cheap installation.

There is no entrance light in the room there was a switch but we couldn't figure out what light it's turning on or turning off!

There secondary safety lock on the room door was missing.

There were No table top lamp for study, no USB port to charge your phone and no alarm clock, no coffee maker, no micro wave. These are very basic things for 21 century hotels.

The patio door was really old with a broken lock, The door was not shutting completely so it was letting a lot of noise in to the room.

Not enough room in the closet to hang clothes the other door of the closet holding the fridge was broken and falling apart.

Old furniture in the room showing a lot of wear and tear sign.so many scratches on the coffee table that it was obvious it's used heavily and never been upgraded.

Bathroom baseboards had cracks and had signs of damage maybe water flooding.

Bath tub drain and shower head were old and rusty showing it's not being replaced for many years. Bathtub had dark spots on it and was not clean may be mold issues

Plumbing connections under sink was awful and was coming off.showing of a very cheap and unprofessional installation.

No hooks on the wall to hang towel and no counter top to put tooth brushes or make up set. Not even a good shelf to put towels on.

The floor towel to get of shower was dirty with yellow spots and dark dots on it. I am not sure it was ever washed.

The bed mattress was not flat and I was rolling almost falling off the edge, it had a very cheap frame and had no headboard.

No extra blanket in room.

Over all very dissappointed.

The level of service and experience at the gorgeous boutique hotel is phenomenal. A world class stay as fine as any other fine 5-star resort.

This hotel served as an incredible getaway to the desert during covid. The bungalows portion was outside, allowing us to largely avoid people if we wanted to. Luckily, the hotel is pretty small, so there isn't much of a crowd to begin with. The 2 bedroom bungalow is spacious and very comfortable for a family of 4 to stay in. The lobby and Chi Chi pool/bar area are really well appointed and had a great vibe to them. The Regency pool and hot tub was by far my favorite, with incredible views of the mountains from the large hot tub. The food was probably the only complaint, since while the actual food quality was pretty good, the selection was really only for breakfast and lunch. Luckily, downtown Palm Springs is a walk or short drive away with plentiful options for food and night life. Overall, a great trip at a great property right in the heart of Palm Springs

A really cool old updated Palm springs hotel. Not flashy on the outside but delivers on the inside. Super friendly staff. A little pricey but isn't everything? Great for a weekend visit.

Beware: Rooms on hotel website are much nicer than they are in person! My husband and I splurged on a “premium studio” for our first trip since the pandemic began. Man, were we disappointed and let down. The property itself is nice and photographs very well. The room was another story.

Upon entry, the room smelled musty with an air of sewage. The bathroom had puddles on the floor. The room was incredibly rundown. The carpet was frayed, and laid over old carpet. You could see gaps along the wall. Mold blow out of the air conditioning when it was turned it on. I felt like we were hoodwinked for the price we paid. I’m a Bonvoy member, and this is by far the worst property I have stayed at.

When we told the front desk that the room smelled like sewage, they offered to waive the resort fee. We ended up checking out the next morning instead of staying the entire 3 day weekend. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the disappointment and aggravation.

This hotel was nice overall, but the rooms really need to be improved. You could hear the guests walking upstairs, the A/C never got cool enough on a hot day, and the beds/bed sheets were just very uncomfortable. Not pleased with the room condition, but the food, drinks and service were all excellent!

I've stayed here three times this year and each visit is even better than the last. The charming property has three pools, a fitness club and spa, and is walking distance to the Main Street in town. I can't say enough about the friendly staff. Can't wait to go back soon!

Went for a needed get away and stayed at the Avalon. My friends and I are already planning our next trip! The Bungalow is so charming and the grounds were gorgeous! The staff and food was truly exceptional and we ended up staying on the grounds happily! The spa treatment and staff were professional, skilled and made us feel so welcome. I cannot wait for my next stay! Thank you Avalon staff! You are truly the BEST!

Beautiful place with wonderful staff. Our bungalow could have used some maintenance. Old TV, no dish rack, no microwave, no vent in bath.

Our favorite home away from home. With a wonderful friendly staff, beautiful grounds and delicious meals at Chi Chi Restaurant, we are always anxious to get back. Thank you Avalon! See you again, soon!

This is such a beautiful space to have your wedding! We are local wedding photographs and absolutely love photographing weddings here. The mid century modern vibe matched with palm trees and the Palm Springs sun make your whole celebration feel like a fun getaway with your favorite people. Weddings at venues where you and your guests can stay and swim and celebrate all weekend are always so much fun for everyone involved. Highly recommend!

A great weekend away spot in the perfect location downtown, close to everything. A bit on the pricey side especially with all the taxes and resort fee, but you get that everywhere. Only complaint is that the bungalows are noisy. We heard our neighbor talking and every time their door opened and closed.would definitely recommend a single bungalow if you can afford it.
Adult pool was nice but you had to get out there early to get a chair - and there weren't that many. Overall a nice place with a great vibe, but I'd probably try someplace else next trip.

Got to hotel for my daughter's engagement celebration, no reservations were in the system, after I had called the hotel to confirm prior to our stay. They blamed it on Chase travel, not their system. After 2 hrs dealing with this mess, a room cancellation came through so we had at least one room. It was not what I had reserved.one bed and small room. They should have comped the room with no questions asked. Instead they waived the resort fees and gave me a $50 food credit. The manager should have done more to compensate for this disaster.

This place photographs beautifully. The food and the pools were great! The guest room (we stayed in a 2 bedroom bungalow) were NOT great. The beds were comfortable. But man, this place is super tacky and cheaply done. Just be forewarned. The sofa and chairs were not places you wanted to sit and lounge; they were dirty, stained, chipped, uncomfortable and just incredibly cheap. It's like they got furniture from a garage sale and just spray painted everything. This place is old - but they slap a ton of white paint on everything. The 'art' on the wall was just an empty frame nailed to the wall with an 'abstract' paint splatter on the drywall. There was not a single drawer or dresser in the bedrooms so your clothing will be spilling out of your suitcase. Same for the bathroom - not a drawer to be seen and a tiny amount of counter space. Little things that all add up in my opinion. The price-point is too high on the rooms. They charge a wellness fee of 3% on everything in addition to the 'resort fee' and all the other taxes so you are paying extra for the pool. That's just an FYI - the pools were my favorite part and are what redeemed our trip! The food and cocktails were very good if not a bit overpriced. Make your gym appointments WAY in advance because it was often booked in the mornings. Spa was closed when we were there, as was the outdoor yoga. They also did not have the Ping Pong table, or any lawn games out 'because Covid'. This wasn't disclosed prior. Ending on a better note.the location is great because downtown is walkable!

We had a great stay, we wanted to relax for our babymoon in which we did, but for the amount we paid for this hotel, we expected more. We were able to check in early and was greeted very warmly. Our room was located near the area where the staff room was located and it was quite loud. I believe it was housekeeping and they were just taking very loudly. There was also some construction work being done above our room which was loud & bothering too. We asked for any room upgrades by calling the front desk, but that weekend we went was fully booked, so they weren't able to accommodate us.

We had asked for our room to be cleaned the next day and we left but came back in the afternoon and the room was still not cleaned. You would think with the price u pay for to stay in this hotel they would have a refrigerator in room as well as an ice machine around the resort, but none at all. We asked for ice and they replied but never delivered. We had to call them again, and it was fulfilled. I also didn't like the fact that we had to purchase food in order to buy alcohol at the bar. I guess it's a state regulation now due to covid? We ended up just getting chips & salsa along with a cocktail.

The pool area was nice! It was lovely. The spa was amazing and the staff very attentive & nice.

Overall, our stay was good. I would definitely come back but def pay attention to the area where they place us.
