Avila's El Ranchito - San Clemente reviews
16We went with a big crowd of our family and the service was great. The food is delicious. The atmosphere inside is always so beautiful. Being in San Clemente near all the shops also makes for an overall great location.
It's a bit pricey, but for the area, that's normal. We've been many times. Does not disappoint. We're San Diego Natives so we're pretty picky about our Mexican food. We love Avilas. Rice and beans rock!
There isn't an Avila's El Ranchito's that is bad! They're ALL good!
Love this place! There isn't a bad thing on the menu!
And the service is always top notch! Excellent food and service!
You can't bet that!
I love this place!
Good Mexican. Great soup if you haven't had it. Good location. There is a nice outside patio on the back. Great location.
Always loved El Ranchitos Tortilla Soup, but had not had it in a while. Went recently, and very disappointed, , was lukewarm, and not as much avocado, just not great! Also did not get butter with my tortillas. Disappointing.
My step-mother and I go to Avilas every year for our birthday/Christmas lunch. We like it here very much. We sat in a back corner, and had a very nice lunch with a very nice (and good-looking) waiter. They have reasonable prices which I was surprised about. Thanks Avilas!
Super shocked tonight. Food took over an hour, and one order was wrong, one order was frozen in the middle, and when we ask for manager he told server to tell us he was busy. Felt bad for server because it was the kitchen's fault not her but manager scolded her in front of her peers. Usually a place we go to enjoy a great meal, however tonight they truly lost a 14 year customer.
Recently visited Rose cantina & Grill and Bar, I have to say. Many times have dined at Avilas restuarant in different locations, their waitresses and hospitality crew is exceptional in service in comparison to Rose Cantina. AVILAS has special commodore with their trained professional, friendly, inviting, accomading crew. DEFINITELY RETURNING TO MY FAVORITE RESTAUARANT! THANKS FOR YOUR SPECIAL SERVICE.
This place remains a San Clemente staple! The food is amazing. The staff is wonderful. The Lauro out front or in the back makes for great al fresco dining.
The mama Avila soup is amaze. Their tacos are fabulous and fried to perfection.
Table guacamole. And of course the margaritas! See Juan at the bar and be treated to a great time.
One of my favorite places in town!
My #1 stop for great Mexican food and a Margarita whenever I'm in San Clemente. Sit by the window, watch people go by. They now have outside seating.
I’ve been here on Friday and Saturday nights during busy hours and never had an issue getting seated. Their Chile rellenos are amazing. Great drink selection and quick service. 10/10
From the hot chips when we sat down to the to go box when it was time to go (because the portions were large) the place was fantastic!
I love the salsa sauce here. Very spicy! All food have big portions, even the kids menu! If your kids don't eat much, don't order too much. The grilled chicken salad was okay; the sauce was too sour. The burger was huge. The fries were okay.
Management is rude to guest. Food is good, service is great. Hostess, Bartenders, Servers, busboy they are all very helpful and polite. The older shorter manager is odd to guest, not polite.there is a younger taller manger with tattoos up and down his arm. These two are either not from hospitality industry or just hostile towards guest. Weird situation. Not comfortable going there anymore. I thought it was just an odd event for us but other friends that live in San Clemente have shared the same opinion.
Seriously good Mexican food in beautiful San Clemente. I love this village feel. Its just around the corner from a gorgeous beach and pier.
Worst food I’ve eaten in San Clemente if not SoCal! Unseasoned, overcooked frozen shrimp that still had the shell on, nice people, but my girlfriend and I were immediately sick, she threw up and we still both have stomach pains, the garlic shrimp had zero garlic, everything was drowning in dirty canola oil, looked red, after I told them I was allergic to tomato, still charged us full price after the server checked with us and I let him know it was not only not good, but horrible, flavorless, and everything was overcooked to a point of an oily sloppy mess of a meal, my suggestion, don’t ever eat here if you value your health or want to have a nice meal, or date.
