Avy's Ribs reviews
16Is mac&cheese still just a side once it acquires this much loving ingredients and attention to detail? ! Do yourself a favor, park behind the ChickFilA and walk instead to try Avey’s Ribs for this LA BBQ goldmine.
We ordered two burritos beef and pork chef was kind enough two cut them in half to try both. Both great my favorite was the beef. Here's a picture of the pork
In short this restaurant is very misleading.
To begin the the majority of the photos on their Google profile are that of the previous restaurant Morfia's. Most of the items portrayed are no longer available including but not limited to: Texas fries, baclava cheese cake or the lunch special.
I ordered the half pound brisket and cornbread:
The cornbread was cold and so dry it would crumble in your hands. But the worst part was the flavor or lack there of. You could have better results from a box. The honey butter? That it came with was unremarkable but extremely sweet.
The brisket was tender and cooked well and the bbq sauce was well seasoned and had a nice level of sweetness but again rather unremarkable.
Even though the meat was good it does not make up for the cost of most of the items on the menu.
Dont expect the same restaurant as Morfia's.
To quote the man working the cashier "we do things different"
This was our first time here and we will definitely be back! Great meats, sauce and sides. Also the staff was very friendly and gave us extra meat to try, we really appreciate the great service!
This spot. OMG. This is hands down the absolute best barbecue spot. I love the beef ribs, spare ribs the baby back ribs…. All of the links…. And the brisket is all fire. I highly recommend that u come here if are feeling like enjoying some of the most amazing barbecue u could imagine. This is definitely going to my go to spot for barbecue here in L. A. I don’t think any of the others can fade Avy’s.
Been going to this spot for14ish yrs. Different names but food is always good and friendly vibe
Great food and service for take out, but parking is limited and shared by the Brendan's pub next door.you have to go early in the afternoon to get a parking spot
First off don’t go before closing, You will get the left over rough meat has no flavor this place is very pricey not really worth it at all. My order was missing items so I had to drive back to the restaurant and get the food I was missing that wasn’t even worth the drive back. Very disappointed this is not Texas bbq or Texas size portions. So if your from Texas in hope of getting some good TX style bbq or just in the mood for some great bbq don’t go here go somewhere in south LA, Inglewood area you’ll have the best BBQ spots in the city. This place is 100% trash. On the pro side the greens was fire. 2 stars because the customer service was exceptional I didn’t have to yell and be angry about the missing food.
It seems that they are constantly out of The baklava cheesecake so I had to deduct a star. The giant Texas sandwich with both pulled pork and pork sausage is amazing. I will have to come back for the brisket to let you know exactly how Texas this barbecue spot is. What I can tell you is the pork sausage felt like I was somewhere in the Hill Country. The sauce on the sandwich also felt very much like a local barbecue spot sitting in front of a gas station somewhere in East Texas. With a side of fried okra the Texas sandwich and okra together are plenty of food for two people to share and end up very full.
Been here several times over the years when waiting for my Harley being service. The beef brisket sandwich is excellent! Very good service here also. I have never had any complaints. This place is excellent.
Highly recommend.
Im a big fan of beef ribs. Since the early 90's, its been harder and harder to find decent beef rips regularly on a menu. Morfia's does them right. Juicy, fall-off-the-bone, smokiness. And, they prepare them daily.
Theyre also my go-to when i need family style grub for a group. You won't be bummed.
I can’t believe I paid over $16 for the most carelessly prepared sandwich I’ve ever been given (carried it home about a three minute walk with the box in both hands straight up, so this was all them) and a box of soggy, greasy, barely cooked fries that I couldn’t even eat. So I paid $16 for this terribly disappointing sandwich. Not only was the sandwich thrown together like this but it had a large chunk of pork that wasn’t shredded or even barbecued. The bun was incredibly soggy in the ~5 minutes it took me to get home and start eating that I couldn’t even eat it as a sandwich if it was prepared correctly.
Super disappointing meal. Also, the guy taking phone orders and to a customer who he was on the line with after a very short conversation became incredibly rude and told the customer to just come in and order and hung up. If that was me on the line, I wouldn’t have come in to order. Won’t be returning anyway though.
This place was once a solid choice for bbq around here. You could always count on tender bbq meat and tasty sides.
These days, the quality of the food is highly inconsistent. Of the 3-4 times I've eaten here in the last year, all but one of those times the beef ribs were tough.
My most recent order was for 2 beef rib half rack combos. All but one rib in the entire rack was tough. It tasted like they either rushed and cooked them at too high a temp or, they were made the day before and sat in an oven warmer all day long before being served to us. The Cole slaw side tasted like the forgot to add in all the ingredients, like it was just a mix of cabbage and black pepper.
If he isn't already aware, the owner of this place needs to pay closer attention to what's going on. This place is slipping big time.
The sides were good. I had the rib tips with mac and greens and the hot links. The ribs were tough but the sauce on them was to die for. Most moist cornbread from a bbq place.
It’s all in the detail. Smokey, juicy deliciousness. Such a great group of guys handling this tiny gem on Lincoln Blvd.
Had the brisket sandwich. Enjoyed it on the beach. Amazing service definitely will go back.
