Awaken Cafe

Every weekend I always visit this cafeteria. I really love the food that they served. It was indeed delicious. The place was so neat and spaciously cleaned as well. The owner was so welcoming and friendly as well. The breakfast menu is my favorite in this place. This cafeteria should be known by others.

Excellent cafeteria, very well knowledgeable. Pastry is fresh and high quality. They also sell other kinds of packed Italian patries as panettone. Quiet, Perfect stop!

Relaxed vibe and delicious drinks/food. Vegetarian menu. A bit on the pricy side but worth it for the calm atmosphere and kind baristas.

This is a comfortable cafe with a vegetarian menu if incredibly tasty food. The gluten free options were equally good. The staff were super friendly and accommodating.

Cool coffee shop! Immediately when you enter your immersed in the awesome vibe. Awaken has a ton of table and bar seating. The menu consists of coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew, breakfast food, lunch food, and beer.

The service is friendly and professional. My only wish is they add eggs. I’d love an egg bagel sandwich!

The toast came with high quality butter (albeit frozen) and great jam. The bread was fresh sliced.

I’ve been here a few times and the brewed coffee is solid, and they have a good variety of baked goods and sandwiches - including vegan and gluten free options.

However, every time I’ve gotten a milk and espresso drink, (latte, cappuccino) the milk is consistently *extremely* overheated - turning eggy or even grainy (curdled), full of bubbles that quickly collapse instead of smooth, sweet, and glossy like well aerated milk - you can see the over aeration on the review photos that others have posted.

They also do not have WiFi or outlets.

I only went in to use the restroom, and thought it only proper to buy something. The service was good, and the coffee was tasty.

One of the nicest coffee places in downtown Oakland. Live music some nights. Very welcoming to disabled customers.

Good coffee, nice atmosphere and reasonably fast service. They serve Beauty's bagels and the staff are consistently kind and warm.

My favorite place to go for bagels. The get theirs from beauty shop bagel, the coffee is awesome to.

Good coffee in a super nice setting just a very short walk to Bart. No WiFi, which I find is the recent trend among hipster coffee shops. I find it douchey, but if being disconnected is your thing, then this may be your place.

Great place for a moment of reflection. And listen to wonderful and new music. Also great place to meet with friends that require good non gluten food. Coffee is ok. But I have very high expectations of coffee! The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable about the items they have. Good pasties.

The cafe was acceptable. The food options weren't very creative as there were only small options like bagels and toast. The decoration was a bit bland. One of us ordered iced coffee and we got strong coffee with ice cubes. There were absolutely no restrooms at all which I found a bit disappointing. Overall the cafe was ok and the food was survivable.

No wifi, but Awaken is a perfect spot for a meeting, or hanging out with friends. Good food, good coffee, friendly staff.

Really delicious and strong latte. Veggie only menu. Not exactly cheap, but a very nice atmosphere and yeah. That latte was primo.

Used to be a decent place for a beer and some coffee. Nothing that I want to eat for some time. They also started getting political and supporting extremists.

Vegan perspective:
Nice that they have soy and almond milk for coffee drinks. Vegan donuts were sold out by 9: 30am on a Friday unfortunately. Humus and avocado bagel was tasty, but a little pricy. Atmosphere was comfortable.

Note: No wifi.

I like the central location and accessibility to BART and the architectural design of this cafe. There is an excellent food menu and beer & wine is served. The seating is plentiful and the cafe is spacious and airy.
