Bahn Thai reviews
15Please reopen in Hillcrest soon. I’ve tried 2 other Thai places and they suck. We love you Bahn Thai! Only thing, please switch to compostable containers. Too much plastic!
Super good food. Everything is also available as a vegetarian option. Highly recommend if you like Thai food!
Let me tell ya. Best Thai food in SD & it’s not even close. Get the Masaman curry, spring rolls, & crab rangoon!
Not my cup of tea. Food was ok. I started laughing when I saw my food served in the cheap plastic Tupperware. I asked an employee if she could bring me a cup of water and she said I can go get it myself. This is place is strange. I was embarrassed taking my friend there. 4.7 reviews I don't think so.
Believe the reviews! So good and great value. Very busy when I came for takeout within an hour to closing and over 10 people also came to pickup everyone was back out the door in less than 10 minutes. Highlights for us was the yellow curry, pad see ew, and mango rice. This is our new favorite Thai spot in SD.
First time here, and we would go again!
The service was quick even though they were fairly busy. Prices are average for Thai food in this area.
The food itself was good, I had drunken noodles (in photo) and my wife had Pad Thai. Hers was much better than mine.
What I really liked, and this is more uncommon, was how spicy they made it for me! I like my spicy foods to taste like pain and they really came though! I've had many other restaurants around that were underwhelming in spicy, no matter how much I requested it.
Another thing is I wish they served you on plates. All they have is plastic to-go containers. Seems wasteful and at this price point (for dining in) a bit under par.
Overall the flavor of my drunken noodles was a bit bland and I wouldn't order it again but the pad Thai was delicious and we enjoyed the environment of the restaurant and will return!
Hands down the best Thai food in all of San Diego. I usually get the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, or Drunken Noodles. The Thai tea here is great too.
Parking is difficult so you might have to park find street parking. There are a few parking spots in front for a quick pickup.
For takeout, it's probably best to order online ahead because sometimes on a busy night, you can wait 30-60 minutes for your food.
Probably the best Thai food in San Diego.
They started with 2 tables on Park Avenue and now have expanded to the old 'Davids' coffeehouse location. Simple elegance and the Currys are great and tasty! Reasonable price.
Great no frills Thai food, the chow fun is fantastic. It is take out only although there are some seats outdoors you can eat at.
Delicious food but even if you eat there, they serve you with a bunch of plastic ustensiles, cups, boxes and bags. In an era where we facing all possible ecological challenges how can thet explain they can't make the slightest effort towards less plastic waste. It's a shame
The food is good, it's my favorite Thai food place. The spice levels are a little wonky, I always order mild, and sometimes I get higher spice than the time before.
Honestly the food is not that much better than your standard local thai spot. But what makes the experience bad is everything is to go and if you dine there outside you get treated like peasants with janky plastic plates etc.
Drunken noodles 7/10 medium is not spicy. Nothing special.
Pad thai: 8/10 i actually liked this which i usually dont.
Panang curry: 7/10 nothing special
Larb: 8/10 i liked it others did not.
Spring rolls 7/10 nothing special
Mango rice: 5/10 mango was not ripe or cold. You need that mixture of warm rice and cold mango.
Atmosphere: 2/10 it has potential, but dine in is awful given you get worst dining utensils than a tailgate party.
Exceptional Thai food!
So many excellent choices can't wait to go back. A word of caution medium is very hot
Parking, like everywhere in Hillcrest, is terrible
Parking is complicated at peak hours but was well worth the effort. A simple ordering experience and a beautiful setting to enjoy some wonderful food. Everyone was happy with their plates. The duck and the yellow curries were popular as was the firecracker chicken.
