Barrio Cocina Mexicana reviews
16Little outdoor spot with unique tacos. Has the Barlow tacos and “fish and chips” tacos, both so good. And the gentleman who helped us was super nice. Even delivered to trivia night at nearby pub. Will return for sure.
Just watched a guy walk in to make my food and wash his hands, no soap and get to making my tacos, gross.
Although it's a pleasant place to sit when you're at the Barlow, the Mexican food is just mediocre.
Honestly if I could give this place zero stars I would. The owner treats his employees with no respect, wrongfully terminates them, and also discriminates his own race. I wouldn’t be surprise if you see bugs crawling in your food or on the walls….
Chips were stale, tasted like Costco tortilla chips. Torta didn't taste like much. Shrimp tacos were ok. Overpriced.
We have been there several times and each time the quality just went down. The food vs price is sad
I ordered the "Veggie Burrito" - and it was anything but. In total, 15 pinto beans, 14 kernels of corn, and a few tiny slices of onion - the rest was rice and the wrap. Total cost of ingredients for what should have more accurately been called a "rice wrap" - likely around 30 cents to 1 dollar. Cost of the so called "veggie burrito" charged by "BARRIO"- 15 dollars - PLUS tax. And as an addendum as I just read a number of reviews below - it seems that my experience was shared by a number of other reviewers. What a complete sham. Will never go there again as what you see "pitched" on the menu - was a far cry from what I received.
Good food, but way overpriced - a fully loaded burrito is the same price as 2 tacos - I got a burrito and a water bottle for $20 - pricey enough that I didn't want to tip (I did though, not employees fault). Al pastor was very tasty, for the price I'll go elsewhere next time.
Good breakfast. Haven't eaten other times but good pancakes, friendly folks. Best pancakes in Sebastopol.
The person working the counter couldn't put down her phone long enough to take my order. I asked what the vegan options are and ended up with the veggie tacos- hold the cheese. They were bland, mushy and unimaginative. Not to mention expensive. I won't be returning.
We’ve been patronizing this place since it opened, mainly via Crooked Goat. It was incredible in the early years, but portions have been getting smaller lately. Tonight, however, what they dished up was absolute garbage. $19 for lettuce, rice and two small pieces of al pastor. Never again.
No Mexican flavor. Shrimp was tiny in my shrimp taco for $18 and no arugula per the description. My fiancé s buritto was mostly white rice and no al pastor flavor. Chips out of a bag. Disappointed
The chips are sub par, the salsa overcompensates with spice versus flavor. The mal verde bowl with beef came with greasy yet sauceless, tough-dry, irregularly chopped fatty beef. The entire portion was really petite and overpriced, overall pretty flavorless, besides the overwhelmingly spicy red salsa on chips, chips seem to be some giant bagged store bought chip.
This meal used to be pretty good but after the last 3 times being super disappointed I’ve concluded that I either have the worst luck or this place has gone down the tube and no longer belongs in the Barlow as it’s inconsistent now and they’ve lowered their quality and portions etc.
Ordered takeout because there was no patio heating (no more propane) and it was in the 40’s F. Friendly young man took our order Friday Dec 17th around 5pm. It was quickly ready within 10 min. My husband got a chicken burrito which he said was delicious and would order again. I got the black rice plate which had a great flavor but was incredibly salty. Ate half of it at the time; the next night I added plain rice and steamed veggies, finishing it over 2 meals. BTW I eat a regular diet, and regularly salt my food. I like their fully compostable containers and would try them again but wouldn’t order the black rice dish again.
Expensive by Florida standards, but if the food is good, I don’t complain. Street tacos were awesome.
