Barrow’s Cafe & Grill reviews
13 The best chicken fried steak I've ever experienced.
I'm traveling thru the area. And just happened to come across this restaurant by accident. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs and it was just incredible!
Went in for brunch on a Sunday, was fully packed with locals which is always a good sign. The menu is exhaustive and multiple non-meat options. The portion size was good and the food tasted great. A hearty filling meal, topped with friendly service. The place has a cozy vibe and ample parking space. Our hotel in Sonora also recommended this as a top breakfast place. Will visit again whenever in the area.
Been going to Barrows for many years and it never disappoints! Great food at reasonable prices. All the employees are very personable but if you are lucky enough to be served by Sarah, your meal will be extra special.
I understand that the cost of food products has gone up and restaurants need to adjust their prices accordingly. What I don’t find fair is the raising of prices and then trying to pass off smaller portions. Sorry restaurant owners, it’s one or the other.
We used to love our favorite breakfast restaurants. We had three that we would visit regularly. I have recently posted my dissatisfaction with Barrow’s (formally Perko’s), which at one time I had nothing but praise and we were regulars … good food, good service. Recently, we have had to complain about being served lukewarm to cold food and had to ask it to be warmed up (yea, we know it goes into the microwave). Then on the opposite end, we have received charred or overcooked food items and served fruit that should have remained on the vine. Sure, it is often taken care of, but we have already waited 20 minutes or more. I also wondered; in a recent post, why were turkey patties and Egg Beaters removed?
The following received a nasty reply from the owners and was posted to intimidate me. Sorry, didn't work Amanada Barrow.
Just last week I posted a review of Barrow’s. My review was not scathing, but certainly to the point. Barrows was our go to place for a nice breakfast. As a matter of fact, we have been patrons of Barrow’s (formally Perkos) for twenty-four years plus. We loved our servers and hostesses, and many were friends. The food was always acceptable. Sadly, my post was taken in a manner not intended and some feelings were hurt. I received a communication from a Barrow’s employee telling me that my review was unwarranted. I have posted other reviews in the past and never lost friends over them. We will not be going to Barrows, and we will miss our friends.
I thought the food was average. I had "house made" corned beef hash, eggs over medium, country potatoes, and sourdough toast. The hash was pretty good, the eggs were cooked right. The potatoes were dry, with very little "country" flavor (bell peppers/onions). The toast was cold with hardly any butter. And seemed like it was sitting out for quite awhile, as you could literally snap it in half. Maybe they were trying to make croutons lol.
Service and wait-time were good.
So we probably won't be going back.
Great food. Great Service. The wait staff are super friendly and super attentive. What a Great experience.
CORI AND LARRY GREAT. FOOD GREAT, GOT A 16OZ NEW YORK STEAK AND EGGS, COOKED PERFECT. MY HUSBAND GOT CHICKEN FRIED STEAK, GREAT. WHEN IN SONORA WILL ALWAYS GO THERE. Coconut cream pie, great. 20% off if seniors or military.
The best food, the best service and the nicest people in the Motherlode, in my (perfectly biased) opinion. I've lived in Sonora on and off for almost a quarter century and Barrow's, formerly known as Perko's, has always been our place to go to celebrate whatever you want to celebrate and enjoy the experience!
I ordered a regular cheeseburger and fries. Something quick and simple. When I opened my box (got it to go) the burger had regular bread! Not just that, they doubled it so there was 2 pieces on top and bottom. The bread was a lil burnt and the fries were tough.
Food was delicious and was big portions. Only reason for 4 stars is I requested Medium Rare for the Tri-tip and se said no problem but I received Medium Well. Had a decent flavor but too dry to eat all if it. I didn't complain as I was too full off the other items.
Highly recommend the pancakes and hash browns!
Our go to place when passing through. Good food ansd service with a Veterans discount 20%.
Cori was out server and we had the biscuits and gravy! It was to bomb! The place is so clean too!
