The staff was very nice and helpful when I went in to the ER. The wait was very quick at that time when I went in. My nurse Alexsus was super nice and attentive. My Doctor Cassandra had everything in order and didn’t have me waiting for answers and explained everything that she would be ordering. For being in the ER it was a pleasure to have the staff I did. P. S. I don’t know the name of the gentleman who put the iv in and drew blood but he was super good. As I hate getting blood or iv put in. He was very patient and quick. If I could always get him for blood draws that would be amazing!

Normally I don’t have much positivity when it comes to bch ER. Saturday my wife took my son to the hospital. Alexsus was hands down amazing. She was friendly, fast, and informative with caring for my son and bringing his fever down. I can’t say enough good things about her.

Took my nephew here he had Covid the nurses were extremely rude, lazy and left us in the hallway what seemed like forever.they just sat in there stations and chatted amongs themselves while on there phone.worst customer service ever

Unbelievably useless! Unless you have such significant blood loss that you can’t possibly get elsewhere, do yourself a big favor and get elsewhere! Far away! They “can’t do MRIs in the ED” even when you have a visually obvious soft tissue injury. Recommend an X-ray instead! Yea, see how well a tendon shows on an X-ray… incomprehensible! Then try to leave - oh no, not unless you wanna “leave against medical advice” What advice? Discharge advice. That’s it, “discharge advice”. So I’m other words, you wait for hours to get no help then be told that you can’t leave until you get “discharge advice” unless you wanna forego your insurance covering any of the bill and pay it all yourself. Smells like insurance fraud and violations of ethics, billing, malpractice…. I’m sure this place is only an audit away from getting shut down. I feel bad for the residents of Barstow and anyone else who’s unfortunate enough to stumble into this place for assistance.

I was admitted on June 21st for postpartum hypertension, let me tell you the nurses and drs in labor and delivery/ recovery area go way above and beyond. I have never felt so much care from any hospital ever. They helped me with everything I needed. I was allowed to bring my son in to nurse, I was given a breast pump and lots of bottles and the option to store milk in their fridge. If I needed a warm blanket they brought one promptly. They helped me get to the bathroom and were so nice and caring I never once felt rushed and the nurses were so ready and willing to help.
I will also say The room was very clean and well lit, I had a private room and bathroom.
I highly recommend this hospital especially if you have the option to give birth here.

I'm with a person that has memory issues. Requested the Dr to come and get me when they start discharging the pt. Triage nurse at front wouldn't even listen. Said pt would have discharge paperwork. Last time pt walked out without it. They lack basically compassion here at this hospital. They don't care if you're the person's caregiver or not. They do not take your medicine history here either because i had all that information with me. The pt didn't have any of that information with her. Go down the hill if you can. You can't even complain here because they do not listen. They never return your calls either.

While traveling through the area, my husband experienced bleeding from his ear and later found to have a perforated ear drum. This occurred in the early morning and the only option was to go to the local ER. The staff moved at a snails pace. There was zero concern for his well being or our situation. The triage nurse tried to tell us he had a pimple in his ear (he never looked in his ear) and told us we had pink eye when we mentioned grit in our eyes (no pink eye). We were placed in a "room" for 3 hours. Two different nurses, one on nights and one on day shift, asked my husband why he was there. This information was already reported. No one examined my husbands ear at all. Only received vitals twice, once on admission, once at change of shift. Staff never checked on any one near us. There were zero signs of a physician, of staff actually tending to patients. Everyone was just abandoned in the cubicles. My husband wandered into the hall, several times, and found staff sitting at desk but again, no signs that any patients were being cared for. We were told by the staff: "we can't hold a gun to the doctors head", "you should feel lucky, we generally don't allow visitors back here with patients" and nurse was rude when we expressed our frustration her comment was "I don't have to put up with you talking to me that way". She NEVER showed one ounce of compassion, concern or communication as to what was going on or what the expectation would be. Had we been warned of an extremely long wait, we would have found care elsewhere. It was the absolutely the worst care I have witnessed anywhere. I am a nurse of 43 yrs and had any of us ever showed such lack of care or made these comments, we would have been without a job. It was horrid. The staff at the hotel we were staying at, showed 100 times more concern than the staff at the hospital. We feel sad for the community that they have to put up with this negligence of care. They need to shut this place down.

Nurse Debbie in the ER. OMG! Amazing! Granted BCH is the only ER game in town and everyone is usually nice, but Debbie went above and beyond. She took such good care of my significant other. She was funny, kind, concerned, thorough, informative an all around delight. She literally puts the CARE in healthcare. My faith in humanity is renewed by her caring and loving personality. Thank you so much!

Security is so unprofessional, and you'll be in the waiting area for over 5+ hours. Don't come here go to St.marys or somewhere else

Had a good experience today at the hospital. The staff was nice and polite and vicki my RN was the best. Very understanding and helpful. Kendra, chelse and the X-ray tech were awesome. Was nice seeing old familiar faces. And Sharon! ️ Thank you all

Such a great experience. From the ER staff to the ICU staff even the security guards. The cleaning crew every single person was helpful. The nurses on each shift were helpful and so great to my family member in the hospital and every person who came to visit. The nurses from the ICU thank you so much. I was freaking out and your ease and being calm kept me from going insane.forever grateful?

First time going to this hospital yesterday the intake process took about 15 minutes everybody was very helpful courteous. I got treated very pleased

Its not a big surprise that this hospital has a 2.9 rating, and they DO NOT CARE. My daughter cut her finger on the job, and went here, she told the person at administrations her boss' information. A few weeks later she gets a bill, calls and wants to know why. They said the person taking the info had been fired, however they would correct the info and make sure everything is right, so her boss can handle the bill. So months goes by and she sees a missed call from Barstow Community Hospital and then calls back, some rude man tell my daughter this is the first attempt of her reaching out. WOW. What idiots, they obviously can not hold on to any decent staff to take info currently and then they get rude with the patients. How unprofessional! This hospital is worthless. Also, years ago, I used to work in the area, and the locals always said.oh Barstow Hospital is where you go if you want to die. WOW, this hospital serves a whole community and its doing it with a 2.9 rating, I see why. Think about that before you go, where people are incompetent.

If I can give a zero I so would brought my daughter in for a UTI she is now 18 so I had to stay back she calls me scared saying her blood sugar was sky high and they are gonna give her insulin and take 5 vials of blood (mind you she has had nothing to eat all day we have been at the hospital over 5 hrs) I asked to go back with her was told no ok than can I at least give her this to eat she is feeling light heading was told she can not eat because they have to wait for test results ok than my daughter calls me to say the scanned someone else paper work and her blood levels are fine WHAT! So I come again to ask to go to the back I was told no again and that the nurse can not come speak with me because they are busy. WHAT now I’m furious what if my daughter was given insulin and she didn’t need it now she asked to be discharged at this point we want to leave they are not wanting to discharge her saying they are waiting for results… worse hospital ever next time we will make the extra drive and go to Kaiser since they have more knowledge on what they are doing!

This Hospital has terrible customer service my sister was experiencing bleeding and blood clots do to being 9weeks and they didn’t even see her at all we had to go somewhere else

From start to finish, nothing but positive, professional service. The nurses took such good care of me prior to surgery and after surgery. They made sure I was comfortable and answered all my questions. My surgeon was so kind and caring also.

Doctors and nurses are awesome and so hard work and friendly. Thank you for being patient with me. I used the phone as a text keyboard note to communicate with them. Thank you for bringing the VRI for the interpreters for deaf communication saves your time. They took me to an x-ray and test to find something wrong with me and gave me notepaper for RX. I was waiting in a room. I don't complain about waiting long and being patient. I used my phone game until the nurse called me.

Want to thank the staff for providing such great care and compassion to my granddaughter. She was treated like a princess and eased my daughter-in-laws concerns. Jeremy NP is so caring and compassionate and made My granddaughter less afraid. The nurses were super sweet and attentive to them. Thank you Stephanie, Sharon and Corey. I am grateful!
