Battleship USS Iowa Museum reviews
13Seriously they set it up for trick or treating this year.was amazing, ill be back for sure!
Sureal experience for us.
If like biiiiiggggggg ships, biiiiiggggggg guns - well this is the battleship.
It's included on LA explorer pass, it takes about 1-2 hrs to go over whole ship (not sure there quick run possible). If you are interested it's well worth the time.
Some of the ammunition is 6ft in size and barrel size bigger than your face.
They have covid vacinations outisde the ship and it's not tests you have to have an appointment to get it I didn't go in they were closed when I went
A very interesting opportunity to tour one of the most powerful pieces of military hardware ever deployed. A must for military history fans.
There is so much to see on a self guided tour. Easy to spend two hours. I was here on a day without the special tours, so I plan on coming back in the future to do those as well.
Awesome historic warship, well kept and presented. Had a great tour from Mr. Pobog- a real gentleman- stood under one of the the propeller shafts, superb engineering achievement! BZ to the museum staff.
This ship is awesome has a beautiful history, and hopefully a great future. It complements the long beach harbor area.
The guns are alive! Even updated this thing all the way into the early 80s!
A beautiful ship
USS Iowa great place to educate your children you can feel the history as you walk on the ship
It was a privilege and honor to visit and tour this artifact of United States Navy history. The battleship is reasonably well-restored, although there are some sections which need obvious work. The deck is covered in plywood where the orignal wood deck had been. Parts of the old wood deck are visible but noticeably rotted. The ship is mostly in the state it was when it was decommissioned in the early 1990s. It is likely cost prohibitive to restore it to WWII status but that would make it even more awesome to tour. The $23 admission price allowed for a decent self-guided tour (recorded audio narration available). For $50 each you could go on an extensive in-depth tours of the ship (I passed.). Other historic aircraft carriers and the USS Alabama allowed for a much more extensive tour of almost all parts of the ship included in the general admission price. So, the one negative I have is that you would have to spend over $100 to get a full tour of the ship.
Super cool experience to walk around a real WW2 battleship. Cramped halls and steep stairs. This was the life of a sailor. It really makes you empathize with our Navymen and brings you back in time.
An amazing piece of history in Los Angeles. I attended the Freedom of the Seas celebration and was very impressed by the staff and the condition of the ship. The deck needs some work but the ships superstructure was freshly painted and ready to go to sea. It will be a fitting and powerful host for the Museum of the Surface Navy! A must visit in LA/Long Beach!
Very honored to get the chance to visit this timeless beauty. And the staff were great at greeting us!
