Bay Area Eye Specialists / Robert R. Anderson, MD and Lucy Y. Zhang, MD reviews
1Dr. Zhang's after hours care line is atrocious. I called and tried to come up with a solution when my wife was having a weekend emergency. Being new to the area, we don't have an official ophthalmologist but needed care asap due to extreme pain and burning in her eye. So much so that she wasn't able to see. Rather than trying to see if Dr. Zhang would make an exception to her no new patients on weekends rule, the woman who answered the phone told me it "wasn't her problem" and repeated over and over again to go to the emergency room. Keep in mind that Dr Zhang is listed on Dr Nickels voicemail as the doctor on call-so to call the dr on call and only to be refused to be seen seems crazy. And then, to add insult to injury, the woman who answered the phones hung up on me midsentence. How is this professional? And incredibly cold, rude and the opposite of what a doctor (should) stand for as a caretaker. And as someone new to the area, what choices do I have other than waiting and hoping it doesn't do damage to my wife's vision OR going to the emergency room? Neither seem like good answers. I will never call Dr Zhang's office again; I cannot believe she employs someone was rude and apathetic as she does.
