We were looking forward to staying here after reading so many great reviews but I cannot recommend this hotel. First we were put in a room right near the elevator which made a terrible sound every 5 minutes. We asked to move & they did give us another room which was appreciated. This room, however, was right across from the 24 hr fitness center and facing the street (which had garbage collection at 4am). There is a hole in the ceiling above the shower that dripped our entire stay. A maintenance worker came & said it was because the AC was on & there was nothing he could do until the morning. The walls are very thin & we were woken up by our neighbors multiple times through the night. The decor is nice enough, but aside from that we were really unhappy with our stay.

Moved here from a disgusting hotel close by and was extremely happy with our decision to move. They were so accommodating for a very last minute booking. They room was small but perfect. Loved the decor. Location was fantastic and if we visit San Francisco again this hotel would be my first choice.

This hotel is simply dripping with 1920s class and elegance - it's enough to make you want to dress the part. The bed was soft, the shower was hot, the room was quiet, and my only regret was not being able to stay longer.

The rooms and gym are nice but the walls are super thin and you can hear everything. Beware of a mystery $29/day fee that is sprung upon you at checkout and the coffee is $7/cup which feels like robbery to me.

Absolutely beautiful and elegant. Excellent staff that is friendly and kind. Rooms are very tidy. Beautiful room decor. Elevators are efficient, but it can take a while to get one when it's very busy.
We stayed here while attending the Dead and Company shows. It is conveniently located for accessing a trolley or walk down to Powell Station. A most excellent choice.

Historic hotel right in the center of SF. Access to Union Square shopping malls, departing from the Cable car.

Absolutely loved staying at the Beacon. I was traveling solo so decided to splurge on a more expensive hotel than I would normally pick for safety/comfort and was not disappointed. From the moment you walk up the grand staircase into the lobby, it’s all elegance and comfort. I expected to feel a little out of my league (especially arriving at check-in straight from a hike), but the staff were super friendly and welcoming so I felt right at home. The room and bathroom were much bigger than expected, especially after reading other reviews. Beautifully decorated, smelled lovely. It felt like staying at a wealthy friend’s house. Hotel itself felt safe with good proximity to shopping, streetcars, and other public transport. Wonderful experience, glad I chose to stay at the Beacon and will consider it again next time!

We loved our short stay at the Beacon Grand. Beautiful, historic hotel near Union Square. Pricing was fair. Our 20th floor suite was simple, stylish and up to date. Comfortable bed, desk, entertainment console in the room. Beautiful surrounding views of the City. Everything was clean and well-appointed. Bathroom shower stall is a little odd, but not super bothered by it. The desk staff were friendly and helpful, offering advice on nearby dinner options and storing our luggage after checkout until we left for our flight. Beautiful cocktail lounge right off the stunning main lobby. We'll be back next time in SF.

Amazing hotel for a great getaway. We were greeted warmly when we first walked in and had a wonderful experience. The hotel decor is refined and casually elegant. Our room had an amazing view of the city, along with a cozy bed and nicely updated bathroom. The hotel restaurant and bar were great (order anything that includes their made-in-house ricotta.seriously). The social coordinators, Leif and Emma, were incredibly helpful; they gave us great suggestions for restaurants and bars within walking distance and booked a museum visit. Look forward to going back!

Our stay at the Grand Beacon Hotel was very pleasant. The location of the hotel is really amazing as it is easily accessible to many different sightseeing spots via cable cars or trains. The customer service was excellent and the rooms were fully renovated and new. However, need to mention that the standard room size is very compact and small but has everything needed. Also, there is a mandatory resort fee that needs to be paid as well. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel to anyone visiting SF.

This is a beautiful hotel with nicely updated rooms in a great location near Union Square. The hotel staff were all super friendly and the room was clean. There were just a few odd things that unfortunately diminished the experience a bit:

1) The biggest issue was the shower. For some odd reason, they decided to not add a door, so you just get a half pane of glass with a big hole in the side, presumably to be able to reach in and turn on the water without having to get wet. I can see the benefit of the hole, if a little odd, but water often splashed out. The lack of a door, however, was super annoying. It meant water just got absolutely everywhere all over the floor. You step out of the shower onto a soaking wet floor mat. I asked the front desk if I was the only one without a door and they said no, it was just a strange design choice during the latest renovation and she told me they get quite a few people asking about it. I'm frankly kind of shocked that made it past so many people. Like, did the contractor not stop them and say "Hey.you sure you don't want something here? Like, you know.a door, or a curtain? " - "No, we really want our guests to have that authentic wet sock experience. "

2) The key cards did not work very well. I often had to scan them multiple times in both the elevator and at my door to get it to work. About 2 days into my stay, both cards just stopped working all together and I had to get new ones. Even the new ones struggled at times.

My first review ever at 50 years old! With that being said, my wife planned an amazing weekend trip with 12 of our closets friends to celebrate me turning 50. For us, this was a big deal.
When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff who escorted us to the check-in desk. From there, we bellied up to the bar. This is where we met Tessa. Tessa is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She was never more than a wave away the entire time and always eager to help in anyway she could. At one point, someone in the group found the Yatzy game in the library. This is when Tessa offered to rearrange the entire Beacon Lounge to accommodate the twelve of us. The Yatzy game turned to Whiskey tasting thanks to Zach. Zach and his inventory of fine Whiskey impressed even the ladies.
The overall experience was great. The rooms were recently remodeled and very clean, the views were great, the room service staff was quick, great location, walk to everything. We would defiantly stay there again.
Thank you Zach and your team for all your efforts, it was very much apricated.

Nice hotel, great location, clean. The bathroom is not very practical, little space and shower head too high. The staff is super welcoming and efficient.

This hotel is outstanding! We had rooms on a higher level which offered outstanding views. The bar/restaurant area is unlike many hotel facilities - it feels very upscale and still comfortable. Be sure to try a craft cocktail (I had an Espresso Martini). For breakfast, try the ricotta pancakes and the blueberry sauce (Yum!). Fun lunch, try the grilled artichoke with spices and ricotta (double Yum!). The concierge staff (Leif and Emma) helped us with museum and restaurant recommendations - trust them to take care of you! We felt very comfortable walking to the SF MOMA - only a 15 min walk. 100% recommend this hotel for rooms, location, amenities and staff.

I wanted, by these few lines, to share my very beautiful experience of stay in this hotel.starting with the location, simply ideal, close to union square and the inevitable cable because.let's continue by the hotel, mythical, charming delicately decorated and historically renowned.the common areas are very refined as are the rooms.the bar and restaurant are extremely pleasant. The modern and very well-stocked gym.the staff is perfect starting with the concierge (of Swedish origin) who is passionate about this place and the city of San Francisco.a simply perfect overall experience.thank you.

Gorgeous Victorian rooms with a nice street view. Luxurious and nicely furnished.
The size of the room and the bathroom is ok. I definitely don't think that the bathroom would be cramped.
The atmosphere was pleasant. The location of the hotel is great. Cleanliness (including hair on the bathtub and unwashed windows ok:) )
I have a negative view of parking at the hotel, only the parking garage is available, which is relatively expensive.
He was also quite noisy. But that's the price for staying in the center.
