Benziger Family Winery reviews
16We took the full biodynamics tour, guide was very knowledgeable, the estate is beautiful and the cave is amazingly big. Our tasting session in the cave will be mrmorable, with five great wines - two whites and 3 reds.
I visited in June with a few friends and Mike made our tour. He's knowledgeable, funny and has great recommendations on the wine. I became a wine club member because the biodynamic farming processes + superior taste - but I'll be back to take another tour because of Mike! Thank you for giving us such a memorable time.
Love this place. Solid wine selection, sustainable vineyard practices, and super friendly staff. We've never had a bad experience here and have been a multitude of times.
We had a wonderful time tasting the wines and being told about each one by Michael who was super nice and open to questions. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the website has one price and was even confirmed by the person answering their phone. When we paid, it was slightly more expensive which adds up with the party we were paying for.
Terrible and offensive experience. This winery should never describe itself as "family-friendly". Sometimes kids cry for no reasons, and you don't have any rights to scold or humiliate the parents who literally tried everything to calm the crying baby in a swelter. My suggestion on this overbearing "I don't care" winery: declare no-kids policy.
First time our family visited Benziger Family Winery in Sonoma Valley we were just in love with this gorgeous vineyard! Sonoma over Napa hands down! We had such a wonderful time enjoying our tasting of delicious wines we didn’t feel rushed & savored the spectacular quaintness of this Beautiful winery. The weather was just absolutely perfect sat outside under the Sonoma sunshine just Devine! Mike our wine guide was so knowledgeable & professional. The winery is situated on beautiful rolling hills. Our family loved this winery and will love to visit again when in California.
A few years ago we toured this beautiful winery and learned about the biodynamic way to raise grapes. Fascinating. We had several bottles shipped home before we left. Over the last few years we have ordered off and on and always been more than satisfied by their wonderful wines. Recently, I called to check on an order of 12 bottles because I was concerned they wouldn't be here in time for my birthday. There was a weather hold based on the high temperatures we are having here in Florida right now. This can affect the wine's quality in a bad way. So, I called and talked to Jane, a supervisor at the winery. She was totally empathetic and, before I knew it, she offered me a really nice upgrade in shipping for free. Long story short, my bottles are now here a few days early for my birthday and I am over the moon happy! Not only was the service awesome, but also Jane has a wonderful personality and was genuinely concerned my wine wouldn't be here for my birthday. She made it happen. Thanks Jane and Benziger winery! You guys are just awesome and having your wonderful and special wines to celebrate is icing on the cake!
After growing up in Glen Ellen through the mid to late 80s my family did a lot of cross work with the Benzinger Winery and my parents restaurant, the Grist Mill Inn, I took my family up to the winery after 30+ years and enjoyed a wine tasting, the gentleman Patrick was extremely knowledgeable and very courteous of my two young children, definitely recommend to anyone
Disappointed, Bad customer service, didn’t feel welcomed at all, we should’ve turned around when we noticed that but we came a long way and wanted to try the wine. The tasting was really rushed and expensive ($25 each) because they don’t discount or comp the tasting even if you buy a bottle of their expensive wine (which we did).
Dr. Bob rocks as a guide! The tour is very informative about best practices in wine country farming. I found it interesting that the wholistic approach included owls and insect farming.
Fantastic experience with Dr. Bob as our host! The tour was lots of fun and very informative. It was a nice switch from sit and sip setting! Great vineyard views and got to get close to beautiful vines!
Thanks Dr. Bob and Benziger!
This was a wonderful experience. I was looking for a place that was family welcoming. They provided not just the wine tasting experience, but also a very nice explanation of the fermentation process and the most amazing tour on the vineyards. Dr Bob was very knowledgeable and make the tour a fun experience. Highly recommended
John was our guide for the tour, hands down the best winery tour I have ever had. Great atmosphere, great wine. Super happy!
This place is incredible! Fiancé and I came and were fascinated by the biodynamic operations here. Friendly staff, and most importantly, DELICIOUS wines. We joined and can’t wait to come back and pick up our shipment. Special thanks to Dr. Bob for the tour and Louie for the tasting and good conversation.
Decently welcoming but it’s $45 a tasting vs the $25 they advertise on the website. There’s much better wine at better prices elsewhere in Sonoma.
Absolutely stunning grounds! The tour is well worth it. The wines are spectacular as well. A little overpriced, but an enjoyable experience.
