Big Bear Hostel, Big Bear Lake CA

Stayed here for about 2 weeks. Great place to stay. Rooms were Big and comfortable. With 7 rooms in the house, I thought it would be crowded. But it wasn't. Very clean.

The cabin has a great view of the lake. It's just few minutes walk to the village with has all the restaurants and gift shops. Lake is about a 5 min walk as well. I highly recommend this place specially for big groups. All the rooms are huge enough for the family.

With everything going on you cant wait to get out of the house but stay cautious, I cannot say anything more than my family and I love it! Super clean just lovely I couldn’t believe how big the place was. John is the sweetest great communication and super fast response made us feel just like home!

During coronavirus the hostel has no dormitory beds and is only renting private apartments (full kitchens) and suites (flatscreen TVs, mini fridge, microwave) with multiple bedrooms and private entrances and private bathrooms. Nothing is shared with other guests except the parking lot and outdoor grounds. Same great service, but you get your own clean safe space with private bathroom for you and your guests. Free WIFI, Gas BBQs, enjoy the lakeside parks and village shopping and many restaurants just across the street.

Lovely place. Sarge is super cool. Feels like coming home. Full kitchen in both houses. Probably would have been fun with more people in the house, but it was nice to have the place to ourselves! Best place to stay in Big Bear for the price, without a doubt!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. This owner is very irresponsible and unprofessional. I booked two beds a month ago, but he has not confirmed my reservation so far. He told that he will cancel my reservation if there is any group coming to this place. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT INDIVIDUAL TRAVELERS. HE WILL CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION ANYTIME HE WANTS TO MAXIMIZE HIS MONEY.

I've stayed in many hostels throughout Europe and the States and this is the best hostel I've ever stayed at! Sarge is awesome, super friendly dude who runs a tight ship. If you're looking for a place to get loaded and party all night like an animal, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a chill, comfortable and safe place to hang out while exploring Big Bear then look no further. Definitely gonna visit Big Bear again and can only hope i'll get to stay here again. Thanks for my awesome stay!
