Big Boi reviews
19 Alabama native, LA local. I was introduced to Filipino food in Sacramento by my former partner and her family. I’ve been craving authentic dishes but didn’t know where to go- until today. I wanted pancit, lumpia and Halo Halo- enter Big Boi and B Sweet!
The self serve menu at the entrance of Big Boy was incredibly easy to navigate and order from. I received my text telling me my meal was ready right after receiving my Halo Halo and ube bread pudding from B Sweet, which is conveniently located a few doors down.
I ordered the big combo with pork sisig, longanisa and all pancit. I also ordered fried chicken with gravy and lumpia. Everything was umami and I don’t feel tired after sampling everything. It’s hard to pick my favorite, everything is very well seasoned and juicy. I’m very impressed with how fresh everything tasted and I look forward to discussing this experience with my Filipino coworkers who all told me I had to go to Carson to get good Filipino food.
Thank you for bringing me to a part of town I haven’t explored yet and for providing quality, affordable Filipino staples. I will definitely be back!
Some solid Filipino offerings. Stopped by here on our way through LA. If I had more time and space in my stomach, I would have definitely tried a lot more because they had some really good looking stuff on their menu. The tocino and longanisa were very tasty and nostalgic. The pancit was just okay imo, and I probably would just stick to rice next time. It's hard to live up to my Lola's I guess: P. The pandesal was a nice inclusion, but nothing to write home about. The pickles however were real good, and was a nice contrast to the savory garlicky flavor of the rest of my food. Overall I was very pleased and would definitely stop here again. Some of the better quick order Filipino food I've had in Socal, but not the best.
This place is AMAZING! My partner are I are visiting from out of town and we’ve already ordered twice from them in the same week! Everything has been delicious but the standouts are the chicken + gravy (weekend special), lechon, sisig, and pickles. I love the variety of vegetables in the pancit too! The prices are so reasonable it’s honestly a steal. The big combo is enough for two solid meals at $15. I highly recommend this spot—I’m just sad I can’t have it again once I leave!
Awesome Filipino restaurant & im definitely coming back in the future!
On this beautiful hot day, I got some calamansi juice to cool me off & I ordered the Sisig with garlic fried rice. By far one of the best Sisig I’ve ever had, a different take on it but still has the taste of solid Sisig! The garlic rice is a must have and the pandesal on the side is gold!
Shoutout to the excellent customer service too! I highly recommend checking this spot out & can’t wait to taste their other offerings!
Ordered two combination plates - pork sisig and chicken adobo. Also sinigang soup. Although tasty, it was not your traditional Filipino dishes. The place itself needed TLC. No indoor dining, just a few tables placed outside. Prices are reasonable and service was ok.
Good but not great. Good presentation of Filipino cuisine but the actual taste and quality needs more work. I would recommend the ensaymada butter!
I always order the vegetarian options, add an egg and garlic upgrade to the rice. It's WAY TOO GOOD.it's my treat-yourself lunch. Everything I've had is delicious including impossible meat longanisa goodness.
Foods are ok but the service sucks.waited for 40 minutes on my order and the workers did not even apologize.bad customer service.
The customer service is consistently horrible, but I always go because the food is good. Such a missed opportunity. Please hire staff that don’t hate their job. Even picking up food here is painful. As a Filipino restaurant, it’s a horrible representation of the Filipino spirit.
Great chicken adobo, wish the pancit was a bit more flavorful. Very small outdoor tables, a few larger tables for groups of four would be very helpful!
Quality and temperature of food was disappointing especially for the amount I paid. I ordered the lumpia, lechón, spaghetti, tocino, loganisa and Chicken. Unfortunately the only item that was pleasing was the fried chicken. I would recommend Jolly Bee and Chow King over this place anytime. Save your $.
I have been wanting to try Big Boi since I have heard and read great reviews. I am a little disappointed. I ordered the adobo, sisig and spaghetti. For the most part they were missing the flavor…. It was ok but the flavor was lacking. I am hoping it was an off day when I visited but I ordered what should be the simplest dishes that it should taste awesome. I will give it another try and order different dishes and hoping that they will redeem and I will keep coming back until I gain so much weight and my diabetes will be off the charts
If I can write a review with no star, I will. The advertisement of this place is overrated.we've been seeing the clamour on socmed about this filipino restaurant. We are from out of state, we wanted to try it when we visit SoCal
we already ordered our food and were seated outside when we were told that they will be having an event, we have to eat and leave in 45 mins.we are not going back to this place.if you are craving for filipino food just go to Barrio Fiesta or somewhere else.the food is mediocre for its price, if you have a car, parking is difficult. You have to walk half mile to use the bathroom of another establishment.
I have no words…
Best Filipino food in town. Our family tried the sides pork tocino, longaniza, and the pork sisig. Which were all so yummy! The garlic rice is honestly the way to go, don’t go for basic rice. The two order of lumpias were incredible and when reheated in the air fryer the next day are even more crispier! My wife got the spaghetti and stated she loved it but wished there were a few more pieces of the sausage. Don’t go for soft drinks here because everyone should try with their order the Calamansi juice which is a perfect taste of lemonade but slightly sweeter.
Advice
Overall our purchase for two big plates, one small plate, 2 sides of lumpias, a side of spaghetti, and 3 drinks was a little over $100. Next time we plan on just going for the family meal since you get a bit more than buying everything separately!:)
The worst service I have ever gotten in any restaurant I advice the cashier it was my first time here and he didn't offer any help any suggestions he was rude will never go back had better fillipino food every were else
Absolutely cannot and will not take criticism. If you have anything at all that isn't 100% positive to say about this place, you will be insulted and told to share photos of your own face so that the staff can make fun of the way you look instead of actually taking notes on why the chicken is dry and flavourless
After following this spot on Instagram for a while I finally made the drive to try it out and it did not disappoint! My disappoint came when I didn't order more and saw everything else I should've tried online. Highly recommended! Next time I'm trying the fried chicken, definitely!
The food here is amazing. My Filipino friends say that the food here tastes like what they would get in the Philippines. My favorites are the pork tocino and fried chicken; fried chicken still stays crispy the next day - mind blown
$8 sinigang with a small slice of meat what a rip off! I asked for vinegar for my tocino they said it is of extra cost. Never again.
