Big Sur Smokehouse reviews
17Pretty good. The meat was on the slightly dry, but you get so much food for the platter that you can share between two people.
The brisket was over cooked and dry, bummer. The pulled pork was tasty, just needed more seasoning. I’d honestly skip this place if you’re on the fence, it’ll do the job but it’s just not worth the money in my opinion. Their bbq sauces were fine, but again under seasoned.
Drove an hour just to have this bar b q. Best in the west. Ordered rack of ribs chkn, hot link, bar b q beans (were the best ever had). Collard greens.the best. Whole meal was great. And the staff were awsome. Great people to talk too.
Our family had a wonderful experience here, we can’t say enough nice things about the staff. The food is DELICIOUS! We will definitely go back. Really, really great.
Went there with a party of 3. We all had the pulled pork platter and all 3 of us got food poisoning the same night. Exactly the same symptoms and it was the only thing we all ate the same all day.
The food tasted really really great. But the 3 of us all ordered the same pork. And we all had food positioning after. We even gave some of the pork to our dog who throw up a couple hours later.
I dont know if I was just starving or it was just that GOOD!
The service was fast and friendly. The drinks are as they should be strong and delicious. I didnt finish mine in fear I wouldnt make it off the mountain. Big Sur is a very beautiful place to be but also dangerous for those who seem to want to get drunk right before or during their roadtrip. Please drink responsibly people their are 88% families with their adorable kids going up and down that ginormous mountain. Have some self respect and dont drink and drive.
I've been there twice! First time food was great the soda they made wasn't! Second time food wasn't good! The ribs were so dry that I couldn't even separate them.
At the entrance of Ventana resort. Food was good and very cute little restaurant. Very pricey for what was on the menu. Power had been out in the area, so some items were not available on our visit.
Great BBQ! IMO, the brisket quality is the best compared with other BBQ in SF. Came here during the thanksgiving week, and they were sold out on Black Friday. Try their special pineapple mustard BBQ sauce.
I enjoyed the food. Prices were very high. $32.00 for a Pulled pork sandwish, cup of BBQ beans and vodka in a can drink.
Disclaimer: I've never eaten here and I probably never will because it's too expensive. If you want to get full, you better wait until payday. All the extra sides and addons you'd expect for free a typical BBQ joint are all priced out individually and therefore it really adds up. (Willing to change my review to 5 stars for a little BOGO action.)
Deeelicious. Great value for the money ($19 for a platter of lots of meat, two big sides, pickles, and Hawaiian sweet rolls). Clean inside and out, and amazing bbq sauces (3) to choose from. Friendly service. I’d love to go again soon, the pulled pork is just that amazing!
I'd argue this is the best dang BBQ on the central coast! Hailing from NC, where we take our pulled pork BBQ VERY seriously, I felt right at home after the first bite. They even have Cheerwine! The collards, beans, and potato salad were all delicious. Honestly, this is one of the few places that has good potato salad that we've found out here.
Service was fast and friendly. Lots of eating space and very clean. We can't wait to come back!
Driving along, and we see everyone sitting outside, looks good, let's stop!
It was not.
Service was terrible, rude. We asked for the brisket, they reply 'don't got it. ’ We ask for a recommendation they said 'ugh I don't know what you want'
? Ok.so we get the pulled pork platter w/ some extra sides because I don't eat meat. I JUST saw someone served their sides, and they were heaping but when I was served it wasn't filled at all. I just felt weird w/ the staff. They were so blatantly unwelcoming towards us.
Pulled pork was fine, (needs sauce) collard greens pretty good, coke slaw fine, the “baked” macaroni and cheese was awful. We didn’t finish it, it tasted worse than Kraft and is certainly not baked. Tastes like starch water.
The interior is very cute, nice outdoor seating (but full of flies) some fans would help a lot.
The service, prices and food together bring it down to 2 stars
Great location in a restored farmhouse, but food was a little bit lacking. Sides were pretty great, especially the baked beans, but the brisket was rather dry.
