Bike Catalina reviews
10 Highly recommend this. Good scenery and good workout as well. Added bonus, Randy provides a great history of Catalina on the ride up. Will definitely do this again when I return!
Also, if you go early enough the breakfast at the airport is.
Randy, thank you so much!
Randy is super friendly and spent extra time to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Quality bikes and helmets provided. Randy shared lots of interesting history tidbits on the way to the airport where we were dropped off to ride. We will definitely come back to Bike Catalina next year!
At first glance of this operation, you may
Let me say that Randy is freaking fantastic. Best bikes to rent on island and his knowledge and love of the area is so evident. Highly recommend and the riding on the island is paradice.
Terrible Experience. Beware - This operator is shady and has no regard for safety. I would not recommend this to anyone. Save your money and find something fun to do around the water.
We wanted to experience some thing a little bit different than just riding around town. Randy offers a great experience where he takes you up to Catalina Airport in the sky where you could have breakfast if you would like. From there he provides quality mountain bikes where you could mostly cost down, there are some hills to climb up. But it’s a great way to experience the interior of the island which is not accessible normally. We chose to do the ride going north to two harbors And catch the ferry back to Avalon. We didn’t stop at Little Harbor which was fantastic, no real amenities other than water and bathroom. But the beach is amazing. Good size hill going up after Little Harbor and then a long downhill into two harbors where we got lunch. We were able to see Buffalo, Fox and Deer. This is a self-guided tour so you can go at your own pace. We dropped off the bikes after we are arrived back.
Out of four days on island this was probably our highlight.
Randy was great, he drove us to the airport and we bike back to avalon, bikes were best in shape very scenic routes stopped at many places for pictures, Randy gave us short history lesson about catalina, great guide,
Highly recommend Bike Catalina
Only electric bike is provided. It seems that there is only true bike rental - brown bike. Everything else is golf cart or electric bike which is more expensive than brown bike. Not sure what’s the problem here. Maybe the shop needs to get license to run the bike shop?
This biking experience is one of a kind. We were a group of 13 visiting in new year holidays. First of all, Randy is very accommodating and welcoming. He has a great sense of humor and gives you a some interesting and fun facts on the way up to the airport in the sky. The paperwork and bike selection was smooth and quick. The bikes are pretty good for the ride. The ride back from the airport in the sky has two parts. The first 7 miles is pretty flat with some short ups and downs. There are several scenic points on the way with nice and wide ocean view. The last 3 miles however is pure downhill with spectacular views of Avalon and and thrilling ride, full of nice and sharp turns.
Randy (the owner) is very nice, down to Earth guy who knows a lot about the area, its history, geography and go-arounds. The bikes were like new, great break system (you'll need it), comfortable seats, water and helmets provided. Truly amazing experience.
Randy met us by the mini golf course and we were ready to go in less than 10 minutes. On the way to airport on the sky Randy told some wonderful stories and history about the island. He is quirky and such a great sense of humor. We were totally at ease and enjoyed the ride there. The bikes were great. They handled the rough road easily and the gears switched easily as well. On the 10 mile way back we saw plenty of buffalo and took our time. You cannot beat the views. Thanks Randy! The tour was just awesome!
